Courage and The Chain Headcanons

Nicknames and Dynamics

Time: Their relationship is very formal, like a boss and a coworker in Courage's eyes. Thus he calls his Boss, or maybe even Big man. The second one not as often. Time calls him Guardian due to how he described his role at the castle with the triforce, this sorta enforces the Boss/Employee relationship in Courage's head.

Wars: Similar to time, due to the group nickname of Captain. However, due to them being slight gossip buddies, Scarfs or Scarfy might be another nickname Courage uses. Wars also defaults to Gaurdian.

Twilight: Due to the known past of twilight, courage would call him Rebel. He does use Rancher, but twilights past with the rebels in his era stuck to Courage's brain. Twilight calling him either Guardian or Knight.

Sky: Courage would use a plethora of bord related ones towards sky due to the things he talks about what feels like endlessly. Bird brain and Feather weight being the main ones. For something more normal, he might call him Bard due to his harp. Sky defaulting to Gaurdian for him.

Four: Courage would call him Smithy, accidentally calling him kid every so often due to his height. He might joke around calling him four eyes but doesn't want to push it. Four mostly calling him Knight instead of gaurdian, if knight gets confusing he uses Scavanger due to his habit of picking up enemy weapons.

Legend: Courage calls him Fellow Hoarder, or just Hoarder. Its the main thing they bond with, so he cant help it. Legend doing the same in return if he doesnt feel like using Gaurdian.

Hyrule: Courage and Hyrule often call each other by Brother due to how similar they are, and they kinship they feel. They will use Traveler amd Gaurdian with each other, but tend to stick with Brother especially if its just the two of them talking.

Wild: Courage would use Cook, or Champion like the others do. His own unique one for wild would be Adventurer, 'Venturer for short due to his own stories hes told. Wild mostly calling Courage Hero or Knight, as Gaurdian would remind him of the guardians he kept fighting. Even calling him Comrade due to the fact their both knights where they come from and its something they often bond over.

Wind: Courage would use Sailor or Kid the most, but might use punk or squirt wgeb teasing him. He tries making wild feel less like a warrior by using those terms. Wind would use Guardian, but would probably use Punk back, or Bro due to how courage treats him.

Bonus: For those he trusts with the information of how hes been turned into a Frog. Frog, Froggy, or even Ribbits hes fine with being called, semi embaressed by it but is ok woth it as he trusts them. That being Twilight, Legend, Hyrule, and Wind. Hed call Twilight Wolfie, Pup, or Doggo in return. Legend being Buns or Bunbun in return even of he gets killed after.

Just A Scratch

Courage (Linked Universe) X GN!Reader

Summery: Courage has a bad habit of pushing himself too hard, constantly feeling inferior to the others in the chain despite the fact he does indeed pull his weight. Of course, his reckless habits landed him with a bad wound. Not wanting the others to see him fail at something he boasts about he headed back quietly to ask you for help. Despite being the guide for these travelers in this place the dont recall or remember, here you are playing nurse for Courage once again.

Notes: This is my first time posting any of my writing online in public. Usually I just share between friends but for linked universe its a smidge harder, this is very short but I wanna share my writing somehow anyways. There's also BARELY ANYTHING FOR COURAGE ON HERE, so I'd like to help add.

Great, another problem, another reason to get singled out… I doubt even running before I was caught meant anything… Why me…

You watched as Courage pouted, looking away as you cleaned around the wound on his arm. A very good solid cut that might need more than a band-aid, to say the least. He'd glance over you after a while, humming in thought. Rather loudly, too. 

“What is it…?” She didn't bother fully looking at him, just focusing on the task at hand. 

“Dunno, just curious-” 

“Curious about what?” 

“Mmmmcurious why you haven't kissed it beeeAAAUGH-” he was cut off by the sudden sting of you applying the cleaning solution to his wound directly. His arm clenching and flexing in your hands as he hissed at the end of his shock. 

“Grow a brain, when will you learn your little sly questions won't work on me?” You raised an eyebrow at him. Watching him settle down and shoot a glare at you. 

“Well excuse me for trying- least I don't rub- acid in your wounds when you say no!” 

“Just because you take it like a champ doesn't make it any less annoying…” shed give your words weight with a pause. Watching his expression soften almost reluctantly before you tended to his wound again. 

The silence was deafening, but nice considering Courage was quite the chatterbox. At the same time it felt strange, you peeked up at him, staring at you. His expression was unclear, a hint of confusion or concern maybe. Even if you were looking at him, his next words startled you. 

“Why are you so patient with me?” You blinked in confusion, him interrupting you before you could even speak. “You say I'm annoying all the time… in all honesty, you could've just not helped me. Be it now or any other time you have.” 

“Am I not allowed to just help out??” 

“Theres helping out then theres being oddly trolerable-” he squinted at you, you glared back in confusion.

“Excuse me? We’re scrutinizing how people act now mister ‘flirt every 5 seconds’??” 

“I’m just wondering why you even stay around me!” he interrupted with a bit of a raised voice. The air grew thick as if hard to breath, you both looked away in unison from each other. “I’m not a stranger to people just flat out ignoring me. My own Zelda was very used to doing that. Just coming to me for chores and work… You however go out of your way to help me…”

“You're injured, I can’t just sit to the side and do nothi-”

“I can very easily heal my own wounds, especially on my arms. You know that…” After your words had been cut off, silence filled the room again. Eventually, you’d huff, almost tossing his arm to the side as you came to a stand. Looking down at him with a strange mix of anger and embarrassment.

“Then you do it- the less I have to attend to a meat head like you, the better.” You flicked the rag onto his face, he yelped lightly from the action. As you turned and walked away, you’d hear him call out to you till you slammed the door close.

You don't know why your heart was racing. It felt so stupid, unreasonable. All you were doing was helping, healing him since he stupidly went into the battle and acted like a reckless idiot. So why was it weird when he pointed it out? Why did it feel like an attack on you, your actions, when he mentioned how you stayed despite calling him “annoying”? It made you feel embarrassed, like you were caught doing something you shouldn’t. 

You don't care for his flirts, never have. You made sure to take the chances to stay far away from the possible battle fields to avoid the typical “Kiss me as my reward”, “Saved you again, kiss me”, so many others, you lost the other variations under a few hundred more. Sure they were annoying, but at the same time he was oddly charming over it. In a stupid way. Stubbornly, your heart fluttered, remembering the countless times. You couldn't help but let out a groan of frustration as you went into your shared room with Wind at the inn. Flopping onto the bed and muffledly screaming into the mattress. 

Courage was sitting there awkwardly, his mind swirling with so much that it was almost overwhelming. He let out a sad huff. He took the rag and did the cleaning himself. Slow with his emotions, like a pouty dog almost. He’d move to get the wrapping, starting to wrap the wound once it was cleaned. Almost glaring at it as if it was the one that opened its dumb mouth to ask questions, not him. He couldn't help but lecture himself in his head, he should've kept his mouth shut. Once he was done he haphazardly put everything away, shoving the sleeve of his shirt down to cover the bandages. Walking around the inn to possibly look for you. He felt a sorry was needed after his blind impulsive actions. 

Yes, he wanted to know why you bothered with his presence, but he shouldn't have asked that way. At least he doesn't think he should have? He just doesn't know. There was all those times he messed with Zelda in the past, being stubborn on purpose. But it started to feel weird the more you rejected him. He had already slowed down on his pestering because of it, and part of him wondered if you had noticed. But the more genuine he got with his words, the more it somehow stung when you said no. This was new, even for him. No, he didn't like it one bit. He wasn't used to his heart aching so much, sure he’d think about a few ladies here and there. But you? You lingered in his brain so much that it was like your own form of annoying. While he pesters you in real life you pester him in his head. It was getting to the point of being concerning for the hero, considering this was all new for him.

He had paused once he stepped in front of your inn room door. He didn’t wanna go as far as to check in there, if you were in there, you'd probably wanna be left alone for all he knows. At the same time though, his need to apologize to calm whatever he was feeling in his chest felt more important. After one last sneer at himself, not liking how that thought sounded so selfish of him. He knocked on the door. 

You jumped slightly from the sudden knock. Just as you were going to get up from the bed to answer, you paused, glaring at the wood barrier.

“Who is it?” you sat up as you spoke. Meanwhile on the other side Courage felt at a loss. Like he regretted even disturbing you.

“It’s me- listen- please im-”

“I don't want to hear it Courage. If you still need help maybe don't say you can just do it yourself.”

“Wait, please! Please, I just wanted to say sorry!” was that desperation in his voice. That was new for you, it caused you to almost instinctively get up. Gently cracking the door open to see him. He looked down at you, the embarrassment very clear on his face. Even if a hand was clapped over his mouth, the tips of his ears practically glowed. It caused you to avert your own gaze from being flustered. Your heart fluttering stupidly again. 

“Sorry for what exactly. You just spoke your mind..”

“For insulting your abilities- I guess.. And questioning you like that it was wrong of me.” wrong of him? That was strange to hear from him too. When you looked up your eyes locked with his. It was strangle unsettling. Like this was the first time you had ever held eye contact with him at all. You were scared your own ears were glowing. 

“Apology accepted- seeing as it's the first time you’ve ever apologized..”

“You say that like it was bad…”

“Something like that can be debated… but… I appreciate it…” the silence between you two as your gazes stayed locked, was everything under the sun, awkward. He let out a huff as you took his arm, lifting the sleeve slightly to check his work. “How does it feel- is it ok?..”

“It- its fine.. Really… I managed.” he grew startled from your sudden movement. Watching your hands as your fingers grazed over the wrapping carefully. “Does it meet your standards nurse?”

You let out a huff, unable to resist the slight smile creeping on your face. Looking up at him you could see him flash a cheeky, innocent grin. You rolled his eye, letting go his arm as if to drop it.

“Yes, it does weirdo… I forgot you've had to bandage yourself before.” you let out a sigh, relaxing, trying to ignore you fast paced heart in your chest. Just as you were going to say something Courage cut you off almost awkwardly.

“I- have to ask.. Should I stop?” you paused, giving him a confused look. “I.. should I stop being i dunno… stupid? Flirting like a jerk basically. Because if it bugs you I don’t- wanna do that.. Despite my actions, I do genuinely care about you- your feelings I mean.. So…” your heart was pounding so hard in your chest, it was like it was all you could hear minus his words. Why was he even asking this? Why now of all times, here of all places? The moment it hadn’t felt awkward his stupid mouth made it awkward again. He grew more and more concerned from your silence as it went on. “Uh… if I uhm, asked a stupid question you can… make fun of me now… hello?...”

You shook your head, a hand holding it slightly as you looked down at the floor.

“Courage- can I ask what caused you to ask that?”

“W.. well I said why I- well you see uncomfortable when I ask, I guess? You get annoyed, for good reason. If it's genuinely something you want me to stop I'll doing it I swear-”

“But- it's… have…” it was getting worse and worse, his heart was sinking into his stomach. Now he was getting confused by his own words. “I… don't know courage?? I just don't-”

“F-forget I asked then. I retract my question.”

“Well I never said that-” you shot your gaze back at him, you could see him huff in almost panic as he rolled his eyes.

“What do you want me to do then!? You're getting more and more confusing, this sorta thing is… important.. To me…” what is he even saying!? You could feel your heart almost stop for a solid second, his own face faltered in concern as if he could see you stumble slightly. 

“What are you insinuating here Courage??”

“I-I’m not insinuating anything!” he waved his hands defensively. “Please- I just want to make sure I'm not somehow hurting you.. I-I realized how stupid I keep being, I mean, I made you stomp off. Even if- I… dunno, am a meat head, I still care about you-”

“Do you not hear yourself!?” you stepped back from the door, this was almost scary. He grew even more confused at your action. He tried being upfront for once and you seemed to be acting as if he was saying unspeakable evil. He let out a groan as his hands came up to rub his face in frustration. 

“I DO AND I'M STARTING TO THINK I SHOULD CUT OUT MY OWN TONGUE-”

“Guardian!?” Both of you jumped, looking down the hall. That was Time’s voice. Courage himself felt his heart sink now past the floor. He swallowed his nerves as he started to walk off down the hall.

“C-courage come back-”

“No- just… think about my question. I dunno- give an answer later or something.. I.. need to make sure it doesn’t look like I ran from battle…” 

He walked out of view, you standing there awkwardly. Nervously. You didn't know what to think or do. His words felt like a strange half confession. Why was he asking about his stupid, nonsensical flirts? It's not like he ever meant them, but did you ever act truly hurt or annoyed by them? You never were, so you almost hoped you didn’t. At the same time, why were you even hoping if that was the case, if he just stopped, everything would be better, right? You wouldn't have to deal with it anymore, at least. So why..

Why did your heart hurt at the thought of him stopping..

if you had to give Zelda show link an Lu nickname, what would it be?

A few come to mind, Hero sticks out because of the fact everyone in the show in some way hold it over his head, even courage himself does it too. The intro of the show has you hearing zelda say "nice job hero" over n over again so that does help. He dwells on this fact about him a lot, in the furst episode he complains about being stuck in the castle not living his life outside. Its become his identity at that point, it both bugs him and is something he always pushes to live up to. Its like its all hes known for, just a hero, and its a title he both hates but is desprate to have cus thats all he is now.

Froggy is another one, due to the instance where he became a frog in Kiss n Tell. That implies the others know that about him though and they definetly wont, courage would refuse to tell them that.

Guardian makes a lot of sense for him. Seeing as his only job is to guard the triforce of wisdom. His bedroom is the room where its being held in to begin with, and its all hes ever told to do minus chores around the castle. Its his only purpose at that rate in his story, seeing as the show takes place AFTER his adventures in hyrule. This falls in line with the hero one from before, but its changed to match what hes stuck to being instead of what hed rather be. Hes a hero, not a glorified body guard. But hes stuck watching over the physical triforce of wisdom weather he likes it or not. As much as he wants to go out and tavel the world living off the bare minimum he cant, hes stuck at the castle, guarding the triforce cus hes the only one who can.

Other than those, Courage makes sense as of now. Its been heavily established and with how zelda herself in the show has a strong connection to the triforce of wisdom, even if theres no triforce of courage in his hyrule he still has the title of a hero of hyrule.

If ganon owns the physical triforce of power, and zelda owns the physical triforce of wisdom. Courage not having his, yet still guarding the triforce of wisdom, makes sense for him to still be named courage.

Courage and how he feels about The Chain

I made these on a whim, theres more i wanna go into detail with but everytime i see someone mention courage with the others it feels off. As someone obsessed with the games n show ever since i was 6 i had to post my own spin on thing.

Time:

Courage is a little intimidated by Time, hes sorta the first person that hes ever seen so gritty and wirn down from experience. Courage definetly respects Time, enough to try his hardest to not complain or show his outward reluctance to do what he considers "chores". Hed feel the need to prove himself to Time, and because of that Time often has to talk him down from being a reckless idiot.

Time sees courage as a strange outlier, hes like hyrule yet not as adept almost. Looking at courage makes him wonder if this is what Hyrule would become in some sort of way, but at the same time since the two are so different hes unsure. Seeing courage push himself so much worries him, but he only ever lectures him if he endagers himself.

Wars:

Their relationship is weird, on friendly terms one moment then being competative the next. Courage sees him as sorta of competition, seeing as hes a guy who keeps trying to flirt with any girl he saves -- wars being just as charming but possibly successfully so bug him. He also never appreciates it when wars tries lecturing or giving pointers on how to be a knight. He doesnt see himself as one, despite the fact that unlike hyrule he was knighted. Courage refuses the title. The most these two bond over is over women, talking about the ladies they remember meeting, and maybe gossiping about the others in the chain.

Above all else though, courage refuses to tell wars about the time he accidentally kissed a monster disguised as a lady and got turned into a frog.

Twilight:

Courage himself feels a lot of envy but also admires twilight at the same time. Seeing as twilight is the strongest physically, no enhancements, he likes to challange him a lot. Even if he losses every time he gets a sort of pride seeing as hes the only one to come closer to being as strong as twilight. The two also bond heavily over simpler lives, not as much as say wild, or hyrule, but they still show a fondness over missing it with each other.

Twilight likes to always check up on courage just in case, he can see he works himself hard a lot. He feels bad that courage seems to cobstantly compare himself to the others, he sees a lot of the people in his past, even himself, in courage because of it.

Sky:

Its strange for sure, they dont quiet know how to feel with each other. Courage is very curious over sky namely with how fondly he talks about his zelda. It makes him look back on his relationship with wisdom [courages' zelda] a lot. Sometimes he musters the confidence to ask sky what he should do if he sees her again, but at the end of the conversation just brushes his own worries away.

Sky feels bad for courage due to how he describes his strange feelings towards wisdom. He diesnt know how to go aboit it though and opts to just give reassurance and advice. He doesnt exactly like how forwards courage can be but courage is a very blunt forwards guy in general, so its hard to say anything.

Four:

They dont talk much, courage feels confused by four namely because he has so much knowledge despite seemingly being a kid. He does get ideas quiet often, seeing as he always picks up whatever weapons his enemies drop he likes to give them to four to see if maybe he could do something with them. He gets bummed when four says no and often questions why hes giving a bow to a blacksmith but four always humors him saying he'll try looking at it.

Four doesn't like courages sass snark and ego but he does appreciate how courage comes up to him a lot asking about his skills. He still gets chills of disgust remembering the sword gave to him once. The flimsy weak one courage claims he got for free having been scammed. Four just tries his hardest to make sure courage doesnt get that sort of dissappintment again. He takes pride in his work, so seeing courage get excited with his now modified weapons makes him happy.

Legend:

Despite the fact that he's another Link from the failure timeline, Courage probably has a tense relationship with Legend. They bicker sometimes, mostly because Courage would like to assume he has a bit more experience especially in a rougher almost primitive feeling version of hyrule. Legend himself would get tired and annoyed over any complaints he said, or ego he showed.

However, there are a few sparks of friendship between them from time to time, namely, with hoarding. Courage wouldn't dare touch legends things, and vice versa, but in terms of finding new things, it's sorta competative in a friendly way. While Courage is jealous of the huge house legend has where he can keep and display his items without getting hounded on. Legend is jealous seeing courages basically bottomeless pouch where he can keep and take everything with him, no restraints.

Hyrule:

Seeing as he's not just another failure timeline link but also a variation of Hyrule, Courage actually sees him in a very fond admirable light. Courage feels like Hyrule is a sorta long-lost brother. They'd both probably talk in detail over their adventures and what it was like for the two of them.

There would be some slight moments of embaressment on Hyrules end, most due to how Courage behaves and carries himself. Despite the fact that Hyrule would come off as looking younger compared to Courage, he would take the time to coach and sorta lecture him on how to fully behave. Courage probably feels like hes being talked to Spryte cus of it, not knowing Hyrule himsslf is half fairy.

Wild:

They wont stop talking about their adventures, let alone what it was like starting out. Courage always complained about the clean home body life he was living while protecting the triforce. So when swapping stories, and hearing wild talk about what his adventures were lkke he was obsessed. The two fawn and get excited hearing about how rough and dirty they got into their respective adventures.

Wild sees courage as a sorta brother in arms for sure, he doesnt remember much about his fellow knights, the memories of the champions stuck with him more clearly. But talking with courage feels like them simpler days, before he even drew the master sword or before the calamity war. Just sitting and talking with the others he trained with. Seeing another person who can use just about anything as a weapon as well comforts him a bit.

Wind:

Courage gets worried for wind a lot, not just because he's a kid but because he knows so much despite being a clear kid. With four, yes, he's short, but he definitely doesn't act like a kid, wind however clearly does. Hearing about winds adventures always gives him a pit in his stomach, especially when he describes his ganon. Sure, every itteration of ganon when describes confuses him. He's so used to his, and how admittedly stupid he seems. But hearing wind talk about his hurts.

He likes to try an uplift wind, have fun and make games out of everything they do just to go the extra mile to keep that childlike spirit going. Doesnt want wind to miss out on being a kid entirely. He loves playing the part of a "wise courageous hero", whispering advice to him sneakily.

Wind himself enjoys courage, find him pretty stupid for sure but loves the fact that someones going far to make sure hes safe and has fun once in a while. A part of him somewhat sees linebeck in courage. It causes him to automatically feel a sorta brotherly connection to his old friend, one he didnt see after the adventure was over.

Welcome Home - Springtime Salutations ! - A collection of every secret I could find

⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD!⚠️

This post is a collection of all the things I discovered during my exploration of the website. I'm not going to delve too much into theories, this is more of a list of curiosities with a pinch of speculation. Buckle up, this will be a long post! Enjoy!

1 - Where's Wally?

Where did Wally go?! Oh No!! It seems our beloved puppet went missing! Seriously, this is very strange, and probably the first thing everyone noticed when loging in. Instead, Julie is here to welcome us. Hello Julie! :)

Most noticeably, Wally is missing from the front page, the Guestbook page and the Welcome Home page. His absence is also alluded to in the Storybook "Sweet Briar". So... Where IS Wally? We'll come back to this in a minute.

2 - The page is still breathing

Look very closely, the image is still... breathing. This phenomenon was added during the homewarming update, however it's interesting to note the image still moves even after the outfit change, and after Wally's disappearance. Very unnerving.

3 - Audio Distorsions

I managed to find 4 instances with audio distortions, specifically in the storybooks.

You can find two of them in "Springtime Salutations" (0:26 & 11:35). And the last two are heard in "The Julie Guide to being Joyful" (4:06 & 5:19)

4 - Missing page

In the storybook "The Julie Guide to being Joyful", here you may notice there is actually a missing page, it seems to have been ripped off! Not only that, but the audio distorts right as we're supposed to read the missing page. This section might have been supposed to be about Frank. How curious!

5 - Goo be upon ye!

That mysterious goo is still everywhere! What I find very interesting is how it always seems to be present where some nefarious, secret stuff is happening. It's like an infection.

6 - New... Friend?

Hello there little guy! You seem... quite curious. The page is burned away you say? Strange, usually the damage is made by paint and ink. Let's keep them in mind for later, shall we?

7 - The Neighborhood

There is our good old familiar Neirborhood, beautifully blooming for spring time! Except... What's this? Look at the center. When you open the background image in a new tab, as ususal, you can see what's underneath Home. Here, it appears that the Welcome Home Restoration Project did their best to block out the black goo from pouring out, by scribbling on the hole. Is this why Wally is missing? Because they're trying to keep him away?

It might not be working as well as intended, because now, some sort of dark void is creeping out of the forest. Look closely That definetly wasn't here before. Something is desperatly trying to seep out of the website. But I digress. Why don't we click on home to see Wally's profile?

8 - Finding Wally

Oh! That is... very much unusual. They took Wally's canvas away, and most importantly, he is not looking at us anymore. Whoever is behing WHRP is doing their darn best to keep him at bay.

But that's not all! His audio changed too! It's a phone ringing for about 40 seconds. Hm, a phone ringing huh? Maybe a hint? Where have we seen a phone we can interact with on the website before?

Bingo. Go to the Toys page in Discoveries, and then click the red button, it will take you to this secret link. We found Wally!

There, Wally sounds... rough. His voice is quite distorted, and Home is there as well. I strongly advise you to listen to the whole thing, our beloved puppet has a LOT of things to tell us. Most importantly, he is sending us on a quest.

"Gather good words from the flowers."

... Hm.

You know where this is going. Here we go.

9 - The Floriography Puzzle

OH BOY OH BOY. We finally arrive at the meat and potatoes of the update. Strap in, this one was quite tough to crack. Let me walk you through the process.

First of all, what is Floriography? Floriography, or “the language of flowers,” was a popular Victorian fad in which specific meanings were attributed to different plants and flowers, specific words.

Knowing this, we are going to need two things : First of all I recommend using this website, it has a solid list to help you decode that flower puzzle. Then, we need the board game cards from the WH website.

Now that we have our decoding tools, we may begin gathering the flowers. To do so, you need to spot them in the website's new additions. Then after spotting them, you need to translate their meaning using Floriography ! Don't worry, I already did the work for you, here's all the flowers I could find :

Storybook - Springtime Salutations : Trefoil, Iris, Oleander = Revenge, Message, Beware

Storybook - Sweet Briar : Quince, Osmunda, Hawthorn = Temptation, Dreams, Hope

There we go, fantastic! But now, what do we do with that big bouquet of words? That one took me a while to figure out : We need to find secret links! The way to do so is rather simple once you figure it out, at the end of the WH web adress, type in the words you decoded from the flowers in order of their appearance.

This will lead you to hidden links! Videos, to be precise. These videos are all part of a story focussing on Julie, I won't say anything else, just watch them! No worries, I've prepared all the links for you, in chronological order too ! Enjoy the show, neighboor :

10 - Super secret link

One last secret link to find. If you take each first flower word of each link, in chronological order, and then assemble them, you may find one last (to my knowledge) secret link! This link leads you to an image. Frank is looking directly at the viewer. It's not the first time this happened, curiously enough, if you remember the Homewarming update.

11 - Awayfrompryingeyes

Let's end this with a visit inside W's eldritch horror-proof bunker website, Away from Prying Eyes.

Here, you will find three new entries from our mysterious "W". One of them is titled "April 12, 2025" a general update on their situation, which seems to have gotten better according to W.

The second one is titled "Joy", and features W trying out the so called Joy Soda. You can see the advertisement for this drink in the Food section of Discoveried on the main website.

Oh... that's... Hm.

W, sweetheart, we appreciate your dedication to the cause, we really do, but I really don't think drinking something that was made in the 70s is a particularly good idea.

And finally, most interesting of all in my opinion, we have an entry titled "Toy Box". In this, W wrote about this so called toy box, expressing their excitement about recieving such an object. They then post a picture to show us. At first glance, the picture is completely dark... but with a few adjusments...

There it is. From what we can see, there seems to be some kind of green leaf motif here, with the characters "GLE ' " at the bottom, and what I think might be the MARLO logo on the bottom right. Beyond that, we can't really make out anything else. Fascinating, thank you W. Please don't sink further into madness.

A very big analysis on the new Welcome Home update

HELLLOOOOO EVERYONEEEE I havent done one of these in a while, but omg the newest update was everything I ever hoped for and more!! So today, we'll be talking about EVERYTHING (+ lil theories here and there)

BIG BIG SPOILERS AHEAD

Julie Joyful, Insecurity, Pressure, and Toxic Positivity

This update really gave us some interesting insight to the star of this update, Julie.

Julie is a rainbow monster, and a very happy one as her name would imply. And yet, she's not really like the rest of her family. She looks different from them for instance.

Her brother Jonesy states that rainbow monsters 'stick with one color', which means that they only stick to one color and don't really wear other colors. Even Julie's bio states how different in appearance Julie is from her siblings.

Recent evidence has revealed that Julie’s family consisted of a "band" of rainbow monsters that were a monochromatic color palette rather than a full rainbow like Julie herself.

Sure, Julie does have pink in her color pallete, she also has an array of other colors! Her hair isn’t a shade of pink, it’s yellow. Her legs aren’t a shade of pink either, it’s blue and green.

Franny also states that while horns come in different shapes and sizes, the bigger the better obviously. Julie's horns however are very small compared to the rest of the rainbow monsters.

Not to mention that she seems to forget or miss valuable information about rainbow monsters and Franny has to keep correcting her over and over again.

"There's more than that, Julie!" and "Missing things again, Julie."

And unlike her siblings, she lives away from them, which is unusual for a rainbow monster, where they normally live in a band.

She also doesn't seem to have an instrument, as stated in the Springtime Salutations book, "Julie, however, is her own instrument."

Speaking of the book, she also woke up too early for springtime.

And while her siblings were kind enough to bring Spring early this time, that doesn't mean that Julie wasn't affected at all by this. She knows how different she is from the rest of her siblings, and she's insecure about this fact.

This all culminates with the black flower, the one flower that she cannot bloom.

Rainbow monsters have a responsibility during Springtime. Franny melts away the snow with the morning dew, Jonesy makes the grass grow, Bea makes the sun shine, and Julie makes the flowers bloom. That is Julie's job, her one job of the entire year.

If she can't do that properly, then she would be proving to her siblings that she is a faulty rainbow monster that cannot do things by herself, that she cannot function properly away from her familial support. Which is the reason why she's so adamant on not rejoining the band, despite her siblings best efforts to sway her.

FRANNY: (With a commanding tone.) Back to us- Julie, when are you going to finally join our band? JONESY: Yeah, sis- What’s a rainbow monster band without its dynamite drummer? BEA: (Wistfully said.) Just think of it, sister dear… A colorful quartet pushing the seasons! JULIE: (Nervous and hesitant) That sounds… (Pretends to be losing signal) Oop- Oh no! The sounds! We’re breaking up!- (Whispering harshly.) Hang up the phone, Frank! Hang up!

And that's not to mention that she feels insecure not only towards her siblings as a rainbow monster, but also in the neighborhood.

She states that while she gets along well with everyone in the neighborhood, she's not particularly close with anyone besides Frank. Barnaby and Howdy tease her which probably makes her feel even more insecure, particularly in her ability to make others laugh, which again, brings JOY to people.

While she likes Poppy, Sally, Eddie, and Wally, again, she's not particularly close with either of them. Frank seems to be her only form of support in the neighborhood.

And yet, this particular scene is interesting, because according to Julie in The Julie Guide to being Joyful, her relationship with Howdy and Barnaby in particular are different.

She seems like she's lying to Wally and perhaps to herself that she has a great relationship with EVERYONE in the neighborhood, she's Julie Joyful! She's happy all the time and everyone loves her.

And yet, Wally seems to call her out on this. Both in the storybook and in the /regardforgetfulnesssilence link.

"Did all that really happen, Julie?" He says, as if he knows that Julie is lying but wants her to tell the story again. Reword the story so that she's telling the truth, but she doesn't want to. It's easier for her to live in a lie.

Which is another reason why she doesn't want to go back to her siblings. She would have to leave, not the neighborhood, but Frank. Her only form of actual support.

(Said inside her head. It sounds like static. ) If I can’t make a flower bloom, if I can’t bring Springtime around- What would I do? Will I have to leave? Will I have to go back? I’d just-

While I do believe her siblings love her and Julie does love them back, again, they make her feel insecure as a rainbow monster. Her older siblings always manage to get their job right, they have monochromatic colors, their horns are bigger, and unlike her, they never wake up too early for springtime.

JULIE: Hi, Wally! And hello to my sweet saccharine siblings! FRANNY: Is that our youngest sister here? JONESY: She’s our sweetest too- BEA: Don’t forget our most colorful! Julie, what could YOU need help with? You’re one of us!

Ironic how Bea says this line. Julie doesn't feel like one of them. She doesn't feel like a rainbow monster. Her one job of the entire year is to make the flowers bloom and if she can't do that, then what use is she?

This is why she is so terrified of that flower. That one flower that she cannot bloom. Its a crack in the joyous facade that she created. Sure, its just one flower, but what if its two next Spring? 10 after that? Whole fields of wilting flowers, dead flowers? Because of one mistake of waking too early and bringing in Spring when the time just wasn't right?

Then she would have to leave Home, and leave Frank. And its no surprise that she holds Frank in such a high admiration. He's the smartest neighbor in Home and he's her only true friend. She's especially terrified of disappointing him in particular.

Because while I do think Julie sees Frank as her best friend, I believe that because of the Sweet Briar book, Julie sees Frank as some sort of prince in shining armor coming in to save her.

Note that she doesn't view Frank in a romantic light, when the scene came for Frank to awaken princess Julie from her slumber with a kiss, Julie just jumps from her bed and the kiss just never happens.

Frank is her only person in the neighborhood that actually supports her and her only true friend, thus, Julie sees Frank as someone that's saving her. Keeping her away from the dangers of leaving with her siblings and going away, thus losing Frank (and her support), and perhaps even away from the responsibility of being a rainbow monster.

"I'm doing the best that I can, but it's nice to let someone else lead."

As mentioned before, if Julie joins the band, she'll be the drummer. However, Julie is her own instrument, she marches along to the beat of her own drum lol.

The drummer's role in a band is to provide the rhythmic foundation of the group, providing a steady beat and tempo. A drummer's role is pretty strict, if they mess up (like if they come in too early or if they become off-tempo), that messes up the entire song.

Julie already knows that she's not that great of a rainbow monster, she messes up constantly, forgets facts that a rainbow monster should know, wakes up too early for Spring, and can only make MOST of the flowers bloom. If she goes back to her siblings, joins their band, and becomes their drummer, then she's not only risking messing up her job of making the flowers bloom, but also the rest of her siblings' job. What if she misses just one beat? Would that jeopardize everything? What would her siblings say if she messes up and makes them mess up too?

What will happen to Springtime? Will the grass and flowers die? Will the sun never shine? Will the rain never come to wash away the snow? Will she trap the entire neighborhood in an endless winter?

It's a risk that Julie just doesn't want to take. This is why she starts getting more and more aggressive towards the black flower, because it's jeopardizing her stay at the neighborhood, and threatening her to leave everything behind.

Which leads us to the ending of /tearsremembranceinstability, Julie gets more and more agitated towards the flower. Flat out threatening it when it's not going to be blooming anytime soon.

"You won't be around for much longer--" "I'll never see you again, no one will, no one will ever know you were here--" THOSE SOUND LIKE THREATS!

Which leads me to believe that Julie did something awful to that flower. Either she forced that flower to bloom, or she killed it.

What ever she did to that flower, Frank witnessed it. And Julie knows what Frank saw.

But then, something strange happens.

This weird little bug flies in at the end and stares at us, the viewer.

And we have seen this bug before! On the miscellaneous section!

Opening the image under a new tab reveals that this toy is called a 'buggle'.

While it is a cute little toy, it seems out of place for this thing to just pop out. It feels random.

But ah! It is NOT random dear viewer!

'Buggle' sounds like a mix of the word 'bug' and 'beagle'. AND CAN YOU GUESS WHICH NEIGHBORS HAVE A CONNECTION TO THE WORDS BUG AND BEAGLE????

Frank, Barnaby, and Howdy! Three neighbors that have had an impact on Julie's insecurities.

Both Howdy and Barnaby make Julie's insecurities worse. They constantly tease her, with Barnaby in particular saying that he doesn't find Julie's jokes all that funny and Howdy saying that she better get some new material.

Frank on the other hand alleviates those insecurities, making him a huge source of comfort, but to the point that she's terrified of disappointing him.

The buggle seems to be a manifestation of Julie's insecurities and anxieties, manifesting itself during Julie's lowest point.

Which concludes to this. What will the next update be about?

Because our guy W definitely has some ideas...

Perhaps the buggle is foreshadowing, either the next update will be focusing on either Frank, Barnaby, or Howdy!

But i suppose only time will tell.
