OMORI OST ZINE Entry: No. 153 SOMETHING (boss fight)
This was my entry for the ZINE. The art (two versions) was done as a collaboration by @mariazalea143. Hope you all enjoy the ZINE and this entry. Also, thank you again to choccymiik and @shxro524 for letting me be a part of this. Link to the full zine: https://omoriostzine.carrd.co/

NOTE: This is LONG. So please take you time reading it and take breaks if need be.
Sunny faced SOMETHING as it dragged him into the shadows….
Mari watched from an unseen location as Sunny faced the truth of what had happened to her.
She’s so proud of him. Proud of how far he’s come. And how far he’s trying to go. She wanted to hug him tightly and remind him just how amazing of a little brother he was.
He managed to get to this point…all thanks to him answering the door for Kel. God, she’s so grateful to Kel for reaching out.
She watched her brother coming to terms with the fact that their friends had changed significantly since she was last with them, since she was alive….
Mari hated how she now had to use “alive” in the past tense….
It hurt the dead girl to her core….
And over these past four years, she had no choice but to come to terms with the reality of her situation, not to mention the grief that followed.
Sunny faced SOMETHING IN THE DARK, which taunted him as he fell….
She hated how her and Sunny’s last conversation was an argument….
She hated it. It broke her heart, knowing just how hurt Sunny was, how the argument deeply wounded him to the point of rage.
All over a stupid recital….
Mari failed to notice that her brother was struggling. He was frustrated and overwhelmed…. And she failed to notice that because her perfectionism blinded her.
Again….
All her brother wanted was to spend more time together…and failing to notice that will forever be one of her biggest regrets.
He likely felt like she hated him….
No wonder Sunny saw her spirit and memory of her as this…abomination.
He was afraid that she despised him for what he did.
Is that another reason why he created Omori? Because he felt like she would be better off with a brother like him instead of Sunny?
Sunny remembered Mari’s advice: “Remember, Sunny…. All you need to do is CALM DOWN”....
He felt dizzy as his lungs tightened up….
Sunny faced SOMETHING IN THE WALLS as it attempted to entangle and bite him….
She desperately wanted to take all that fear and pain away to remind Sunny that she would always love him dearly, no matter what.
Ever since she was told that she was going to be a big sister, she never stopped caring for her little brother.
He might not think good of himself, but she KNOWS he’s an amazing little brother. He’s creative, artistic, smart, kind, and especially brave.
She wished that the boy could see and accept that….
She’s so glad she was given an amazing little brother like Sunny. And she would do anything to see him smile and be happy again.
How desperately Mari wanted to restore Sunny’s sense of joy….
But she couldn’t do much in her…spectral form.
Sunny remembered Mari’s advice: “You need to block out the little things…and figure out what’s important”....
In his attempt to FOCUS, a sinking sensation cemented itself in the boy’s gut as his heart attempted to beat out of his chest….
Sunny faced SOMETHING IN THE WATER, while it listened to him struggle ….
She hated how powerless she felt, now that she was dead….
She hated her new existence as she missed out on experiencing so much. And would likely continue to miss out on so many potential futures.
She wasn’t able to experience graduating.
She wasn’t able to experience what it was like to date and eventually marry Hero.
She wasn’t able to experience getting a job.
Mari wouldn’t be able to experience giving her brother and friends her famous cookies.
She wouldn’t be able to introduce herself to Sally.
She wouldn’t be able to experience Sunny, Kel, Basil, and Aubrey graduating.
She wouldn’t be able to comfort her loved ones in any noticeable way anymore.
As far as she was concerned, Mari was alone….
Mari felt her “breath” catch in her throat as she saw what her brother’s trauma turned into next.
She knew all too well what the figure was, despite it being completely cloaked in shadow….
Sunny remembered his sister’s advice: “Don’t give up. You have to keep going. No matter how impossible it seems”....
Sunny reached out to her voice; tried to PERSIST, but his legs began to weaken….
His fingers couldn’t stop trembling….
Sunny saw a figure swaying in the wind….
Mari forced herself to swallow a lump forming in her throat, trying to breathe as a familiar cold shiver ran through her spine.
What if she failed…?
What if she couldn’t convince Sunny to forgive himself…?
There was a serious chance that Basil could be dead before Sunny woke up…or that Sunny might take his own life in response….
Mari couldn’t risk that…!
She couldn’t let that happen…and yet, she couldn’t do much of anything in her ghostly state.
There was a serious possibility that Hero, Kel, and Aubrey might not forgive them…or that they would lash out at them.
She dreaded the possibility of her mother doing the same. She still didn’t know whether or not her mother knew….
Even so, she dreaded what would happen if Sunny confessed to her accidental death….
And now, the figure that took the shape of her corpse was visibly clear to Sunny as well….
Sweat dripped down the boy’s forehead….
Sunny wanted to close his eyes….
He could hear his own heartbeat….
And despite her fears attempting to cloud her judgement, Mari knew that it didn’t matter what happened.
She wanted to be there for Hero, whose heart was broken from losing her.
She had to be there for Kel, whose innocence was shattered and his unfiltered joy lost.
She was going to be there for Aubrey, who felt abandoned, angry, and hurt.
She needed to be there for Basil, who was drowning in his own guilt and fears.
She must be there for her brother, even if it’s just so she could be reminded of how far he’s gotten and how far he will go.
Mari wanted to be there for all of them. She wanted to see their futures, even if she couldn’t be a part of them anymore…in a physical sense, at least.
She wanted to see them all truly happy again.
Sunny felt his breathing and heart begin to steady….
He then gathered all his courage…and learned to OVERCOME….
And soon…it was over.
Sunny actually overcame the figure that was his trauma….
And Mari couldn’t be more proud of him.
Instinctively, she reached out and hugged her brother tightly, lifting and spinning him around in her arms as she laughed with pride and the biggest smile on her face in years.
“YES! You did it!” The dead girl shouted with glee. “My brave little brother! I KNEW you would! I’m so proud of you!”
She knew Sunny would wake up soon…and he most likely would believe this all to be a dream….
But she could NOT contain the joy inside her any longer. She soon settled a little, before holding Sunny’s face gently and pressing her forehead against his.
“I’m so proud of you…. Do you understand?” She whispered. She lowered her head with a sad expression, “I’m so sorry about our fight, about everything leading up to it….”
She pulled the boy close to her, hugging him, “I’m so sorry that I didn’t notice what you were going through sooner.”
Mari felt her brother trembling, as he began to cry. She rubbed his back and brushed his hair as she said, “You don’t have to forgive me for our fight, for not noticing that you were struggling…. Just know three things, okay?”
She then pulled back slightly, looking at Sunny in the eye as she wiped the tears from his face. “It’s okay to be scared sometimes….” She whispered.
She then spoke, praying that Sunny would remember her words, “Just know that I’m right here with you. That I’ll always be by your side. That I will always love you.”
The dead girl then held her brother close, letting him cry against her as she whispered a song….
“The monster’s gone.”
A song she used to sing to him whenever he had a nightmare.
“It’s on the run.”
A song Mari used to help Sunny relax when he was a toddler.
“And your sister’s here.”
It was her reminder that she would always protect him.
“Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful….”
It was her reminder that she would always love him.
“Beautiful boy.”
And Mari kept repeating her song until her brother arose from his slumber. And just for a moment, she swore she saw Sunny’s smile once more….
….
….
As Sunny woke up, Mari watched him slowly come to his senses, before heading towards Basil’s room.
She knew that he was going to try and, hopefully, save the blonde from himself. And so she followed after him.
Even though she hoped they’d both live, even though she wanted them to be forgiven.
Regardless of the outcome…
All Mari knew was that she NEEDED to be by her little brother’s side.
No matter what.

OMORI Birthday Fic: Three Sacred Sentences For The Sun
-Sunny: Age 2-
It's only been two years since her little brother was born…and Mari could not be happier.
Her mother and father had said that he was lucky to have a safe arrival. She didn't know what that meant, but for now, it didn't matter. Her brother was home and that's all she could think about.
To her, all that was important was that her little brother was home with her. She was given the chance to name him…and named him Sunny, in reference to the amount of joy he gave her, just like the sun.
Right now, the toddler was napping on the carpet floor of the siblings' shared bedroom. The young girl laid down next to the sleeping Sunny with an unapologetically goofy and happy smile on her face. She cupped the boy's face, rubbing her thumb against it.
In her heart, she swore to protect her brother from anything that could harm him.
To this day, she regretted not being able to keep that promise....
Again, she heard her parents saying that it was a miracle that Sunny was born safely. To Mari, that meant something important about her brother. She didn't know if he would even understand it as they got older…but she needed to say it….
"You are special…." She whispered, a loving smile on her face as she curled up next to her little brother, ultimately falling asleep next to him.
When their parents came upstairs to check on the two, they found Sunny and Mari curled up against each other; the moment being photographed and placed in the siblings' room.
She wished she could go back in time to those days...where the world was more simple and peaceful....
Where she, Sunny, and their friends were allowed to be kids....
-Sunny: Age 12-
Time went on….
As they got older, Mari and Sunny became inseparable, though also trying their own things. The girl took notice of her brother's high levels of creativity and imagination through his sketchbook, which always impressed her and made her happy seeing Sunny finding something he enjoyed.
As for the older of the two, she took up sports at one point; specifically softball and enjoying it immensely. As a result of her enjoyment, she would be very upset when she received a knee injury that led to her being unable to play sports again. Though she hardly cried and tried to reassure that she was fine….
After that, she took up the piano more often. She would also begin college prep with Hero, both of which lessened the time she had to spend with Sunny and their friends.
She wouldn't know until later just how lonely Sunny felt as a result…much to her regret….
Then, during the summer, Mari would feel true fear as she just barely managed to save Sunny from drowning at the lake. It was one of the few times she cried her heart out…and it was in relief that she had saved her brother.
She hardly spoke to anyone the rest of the day, staying by the boy to make sure he was okay. She was also scared that if she left his side…. If she wasn't there to keep him safe…something bad would happen to him.
The girl hardly noticed that she was shaking with fright, too focused on keeping Sunny protected to care. Once again, she heard her parents talking about Sunny's birth being a miracle, comparing it to Mari's miraculous saving of him….
…And she felt the urge to ask about it.
When her mother came upstairs to give her children dinner, she set the bowls beside them on the floor. Mari managed to get Sunny to eat his dinner, the boy still frightened and shaky after everything, just like his sister.
After he finished, he went back to sleep. Just before their mother left, Mari said, "You and Dad keep talking about Sunny's birth being a miracle…."
"What do you mean by that…?" She asked.
Her mother slowly put their bowls down and sat on Mari's mattress across from her children. She gave a heavy sigh, giving Mari the idea that this was a difficult topic and that she wasn't going to enjoy it….
The woman took a deep breath, asking, "You know how…some children have struggles when their mother's still pregnant with them, right?" "Sunny also had complications…." She added.
"Doctors said that he was born prematurely…." The woman explained, her hands gripping the blanket and sheets beneath her out of anxiety. "I still don't know if they were right…though they might be…."
She then lowered her head, before whispering, "He was…stillborn." Mari gave a confused expression, cuing her mother to say, "His heart was…not responding. He had to be resuscitated; brought back from…apparent death…."
The girl's face went white, clutching Sunny protectively.
"He was brought back, much to the surprise of both us and the doctors." The woman explained. "But it was after 20 minutes…. So, yes…by all means, it WAS a miracle."
Mari looked at her mother, processing the information, before looking at her sleeping brother. Even before she would've seen him, she could've lost him as soon as he came into the world.
To this day, the thought of her little brother dying scared her more than anything….
"Sweetie…. It's okay." Her mother said, trying to reassure her daughter, even as her voice wavered. "Yes, something terrible happened…but what's important is that he's here with us now. He's safe."
Mari didn't verbally respond, yet gave a shaky nod anyway.
Eventually, the children's mother went back downstairs, leaving Mari and Sunny by themselves in their shared room. The girl cupped her brother's face, rubbing her thumb against it before she began crying into the mattress.
She nearly lost him…twice. And one was before she even met him.
And then, she heard him waking up with a scream….
She sat up and held her brother, cupping his face yet again to get him to look at her. "Hey. Hey…. I'm here." She whispered to him gently. "It's okay…! I'm right here."
"Mari…!" The boy choked out as he held onto her like a lifeline. Mari held her brother and rocked him gently, keeping a tight hold on him. She would not risk losing him a third time.
And yet, he was at risk of dying plenty of times after the incident at the lake, much to Mari's horror….
She eventually got Sunny to calm down enough to look at her, before drying his tears. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I won't leave you. I promise you." She said, each word a vow etched into her soul….
And yet…she died….
The boy gave a shaky nod, before feeling Mari kiss his forehead and nuzzle his hair, still holding onto him protectively as she whispered, "I love you."
She wondered if it was her care towards her brother that's been protecting him…. She prayed that it was….
A/N: The rest of this is below the line, due to it being very long.
-Sunny: Age 16-
Mari stood in the hallway as she waited for Sunny to return safely to his hospital room.
She's still struggling to comprehend everything that's happened. She knew that their mother was on her way. She hoped that Sunny would be okay.
And yet, she still had a hard time believing any of this happened…. And she still wished that she could go back and change things, even though she knew it was impossible.
She knew that the accident was preventable…that one simple notice of her brother's struggles could've prevented so much pain for all of them.
Would she have noticed if she went back? COULD she have noticed…?
….
….
She would never know the answer to any of that, much to her grief….
She entered the boy's hospital room as she noticed him walking down the hall. Clear as day, she could see the sad expression on his face.
The dead girl could only assume that their friends took the truth harder than finding out that she died in the first place.
Her eyes trained on her brother's expression, noticing how saddened it was. How heartbroken it was. It's clear that now, he is more alone than ever….
Mari felt herself giving a shaky sigh as tears ran down her face. It's like the world was taken out from underneath him yet again….
As she was dead, to her, there was no certainty that Sunny would be able to see and hear her, no matter how much she wanted to comfort him. She wasn't certain if he could before and she wasn't certain now; possibly even less certain.
….
….
"Mari…?"
The dead girl jumped a little at her name being called in her brother's voice…before noticing the boy STARING at her in shock. She froze in place, unsure of what to say or do, before simply pointing at herself and mouthing, "Can you see me?"
Sunny gave a hesitant nod, as if to show his disbelief.
Mari looked at the boy for a few moments, before whispering, "Can you hear me…?" As her brother gave another nod, the dead girl walked up to Sunny slowly, as to not startle him.
She then cupped his face, watching as the boy's good eye widened and began swelling up with tears, before hugging him tightly.
She didn't know if this was a dream or hallucination SHE was having…or if she ended in Sunny's dreams yet again by accident….
But she PRAYED that this, even just for a few moments, was real.
"I got you. It's okay…! I'm right here." The dead girl whispered, once again rocking her brother gently as if nothing had changed. And she knew that despite everything, nothing had indeed changed between them.
"I'm sorry…!" The boy whispered. "I'm sorry…! I'm so-…!" He's cut off by Mari shushing him gently, with Mari saying, "You know I've forgiven you. I will ALWAYS forgive you."
She then sat with her brother on his hospital bed, rubbing his shoulder in a side hug as she asked, "What happened…?" Sunny stayed silent for a few moments, before whispering, "They didn't take it well…."
The dead girl gave a small nod, resting her head against her brother's with a sad expression. She knew that. She knew that they would be, to put it kindly, upset with the truth. She then looked at Sunny's hands, holding one of them in hers, "I can't apologize enough for not realizing your struggles sooner…."
"I don't know if any apology will be enough…." She admitted. "Or if I could've done something better…."
"But still…. I want you to know…." Mari paused, taking a shaky breath. "I would NEVER hurt you…. And if I did…it was not intentional. You mean the WORLD to me."
The boy lowered his head, whispering, "I shouldn't…." Mari gave a confused expression, before becoming concerned as Sunny added, "I hurt you…. You should hate me…. Just like them…."
"Sunny, it was an accident. You and I both know that." The dead girl explained, her face filled with worry. "Did one of our friends…say something harmful? Did Mom or Dad?"
She knew that it was outlandish to even think that their friends would say something harsh about Sunny…. But after these past four, she also knew that anything was possible. Even her friends genuinely insulting her brother….
And that scared her and broke her heart.
She noticed Sunny getting eerily quiet. She then gave a firm expression, before getting in front of her brother and kneeling slightly, holding his face and rubbing away his tears.
"I don’t know if they said anything about us and you don’t have to tell me…but if they-. No...if ANYONE said something harmful, they're wrong." She said, her expression unwavering. "They do NOT know you like I do. You are talented. Kind. Creative. Smart. And ESPECIALLY compassionate and brave."
She then lowered her head, her mind drifting to every private moment she had with the boy. This wasn't JUST her reminding Sunny. This was also her reminding HERSELF; holding HERSELF to what she knows she truly is.
"I'm not perfect. I screwed up…. And yet, NONE of that has stopped me from being your loving, protective, and forgiving big sister." Mari explained, a gentle smile forming on her face. "I will always forgive you…. I could NEVER hate you."
The boy began crying again, crying into his sister's shoulder as she stood and held him again, whispering to him with promise….
"You are special."
He always would. In her mind, heart, and soul. Without question.
"I love you."
She always would. No matter what happened. Unconditionally.
"I'm proud of you."
She felt her brother beginning to relax as she hummed with a smile, "I'm SO proud of you."
Yes….
She would ALWAYS be proud of her little brother. The one who gave and continued to give her life and afterlife so much joy....
...Just like the sun he was named after.

Negotiable Special Requests* -> I have taken comms from mutuals that have requested Dead Plare Chibi Style and Minecraft Mobs, and they ended up okay<3 as long as we see to it that it's doable. I have the rights to decline if it is beyond my capabilities.
Progress Timeframe* -> I am a college student outside of this account, therefore if the comm needs to be done quick I will increase my price as I see fit. However there are times where I finish a piece within 2-3 days, especially recently that I am currenly on semestral break.

Yakuza Omori AU prompt
This is more or less Omori characters having the roles of Yakuza/Like A Dragon characters. Inspired by the fact that my Old Lady Mari (ref by @neskastree) has a similar appearance to Kiryu from said series.
Tumblr media
I'm not going to go through all of the story, because the story of the games should be experienced for yourselves. Yes, they're that good. But there are differences (I will only go over them if asked).
Mari would be Kiryu (because yes. Hell, Old Lady Mari is BASED DIRECTLY OFF HIM).
Hero would be Date, because that makes the most sense imo.
As for Sunny, he'd probably be a mix of roles, primarily having Haruka's role before transitioning to a role similar to Ichiban and, more noticeably, Akiyama and Daigo.
Aubrey would have some Majima, but also be influenced by Yuta and Taiga. May or may not have Ichiban traits. Idk, it feels…right to have Aubrey and Sunny as successors to Mari's legend here.
Kel and Basil, I have no idea. I suppose Kel could be based on Kiyru's Hirose-Family allies, while Basil (and Sally, as well as a majority of the other characters as part of the Universally Loved achievement) are based on Kiryu's civilian allies/friends.

Ghost/Skeleton Mari AU prompt
Okay, so this idea is inspired by @diddlydarndoodles's Ghost Mari AU.
Basically, Mari comes back as a ghost to protect Sunny, but she's a full on skeleton with her gown and hair. Out of anger towards the treatment Sunny's been receiving from their parents since her death, Mari makes one of two choices: Either runs away with her brother or offs her parents. Either way, she makes sure Sunny is protected.
Sunny has longer hair here and has more trauma. Mari's well aware that her mere presence is not helping, but she can't let her brother fend for himself, especially in his current state. Despite being traumatized by his sister's accidental death, Sunny emotionally and mentally responds decently well to Mari's presence.
The friend group, meanwhile, have mixed responses. I'm going to fully admit right now that I don't know what Kel's reaction would be like.... I honestly struggle with writing him and what he thinks....
Basil is still very traumatized by the falsification of Mari's death and seeing Sunny looking unwittingly similar to Mari and Mari's animated skeleton only makes things worse for his mental and emotional state.
Aubrey is wary. She's glad that Mari's back and Sunny's socializing, but she can't help but feel worried as to how and why this happened. She's scared about why Mari died and if Mari's stay is short-lived.
Hero would be concerned. First Mari dies, then she comes back as a ghost. And to top it off, he finds out that Mari and Sunny's parents hurt both of them and tried to turn Sunny into a replacement.

Anyone who seriously believes Mari and Sunny have any sort of an intentionally harmful relationship and/or purposefully portrays them as such has little to no understanding of these two.

Reminders for the Anxious/Depressed Creatives
You’re more than what you make.
Your productivity does not determine your value.
It’s okay to do nothing sometimes.
Not everything you do has to result in a product.
Not everything you make has to be important, significant, or even good.
You can make things just for yourself.
You can keep secrets for yourself, whether it’s not posting some of your projects or not sharing your techniques.
You’re allowed to say no.
You’re allowed to rest.

Resurrected/Ghost/Angel Mari AU reboot
So, this is a reboot idea of my "By Your Side, Always" AU that’s been bugging me for a while. This won't be written until I feel motivated enough to do so. But this is the outline I have made so far (everything is subject to change).
Mari Forms and Nicknames
Mari’s void/essence form: “Primordial Truth”
Human: “Truth Given Flesh”
Spirit: "Truth Since Expired"
Angel: “Truth Given Wings”
Broken Angel: “Truth Tainted By Guilt”
Fallen Archangel: “Truth Ignited By Fury”
Guardian Angel: “Truth That Protects”
Goddess: "Mari No Okami (Goddess Of Truth)/Mari No Mikoto (The Great Truth)/Yami O Terasu Mari or Shinri (The Truth That Illuminates The Darkness)"
What If/Non-canon Forms
Oni: “Truth Molded By Vengeance”
Half-Dragon: "Beastly/Animalistic Truth"
Antagonist Forms
HellMari/The Grudge would simply be “The Lie”. This extends to her possession of Mari's corpse ("The Lie Given Flesh") and her monster form ("The Monstrous Lie/The All-Consuming Lie").
Synopsis is under the line, due to length.
Year 1
Part 1 (Return Arc)
Mari returns to Earth with little memory of what happened in the afterlife, outside of her guilt for the events leading up to the accident and feeling nothing but forgiveness for Sunny.
Mari is NOT aware of how Sunny and Basil falsified her death. Chances are that I might make Sunny too distraught to let that happen at all.
Mari is confronted by her own emotions and the Goddess, who help her expel her perfectionism and the accumulated malice she got when Hell used her as their agent of vengeance.
Here is where Mari experiments with her appearance and has fun appreciating her new sense of freedom.
Mari checks on everyone as much as she can. For the time being, she is only able to notice Hero's depression, Kel's helplessness, and Artist struggling to be happy.
Mari gets Sunny to notice her deliberately, leading to lots of hugs and tears. There's no apology here, as Mari's main focus is to remind Sunny just how much she cares about him.
Mari helps Sunny with school and encounters HellMari in the background here.
Part 2 (Connection Arc)
Mari makes contact with Artist on accident while she's babysitting Sunny. Artist and Mari let their emotions out for the first time in a while. Same story as the initial chapter.
Mari might try to convince Sunny to make contact with one of their friends and/or Mari tries to make a deliberate attempt to make contact with the Baker twins. Not sure.
Mari gets Sunny to introduce himself to Angel and Mikhael, which helps them as they all share similar backgrounds (especially in Mikhael's case, since the twins likely have a similar upbringing to Mari's).
Mari ultimately finds out about Basil's mental issues forming and what's happening with Aubrey…. And she is PISSED with what's happening. Mari's Fallen Archangel form makes its first appearance, before she forcibly quells it.
The Goddess makes herself known to Sunny and Mari's friends, explaining why Mari's back. This motivates Artist and the twins to be more active in Sunny and Mari's lives.
Mari ultimately begins remembering things and talks to Sunny and Artist about it. She only remembers everything right before meeting her malicious counterparts. She and Sunny apologize to each other privately, which unintentionally triggers more memories in Mari…which continues to motivate her.
Mari once again encounters HellMari in the background, who goads her in using her Fallen Archangel form more willingly.
Year 2
Part 1 (Headspace Arc)
Mari notices Sunny struggling in his sleep and ultimately chooses to enter his mind in an attempt to help. She soon notices Headspace and either possesses HS Mari or creates a HS version of her to blend in.
Mari eventually encounters Omori and the HS crew. She is caught off-guard by how the HS counterparts act compared to the real deal…. And she kinda hates it.
With Omori and crew not present currently, Mari makes the decision to explore. She stumbles across Shattered Omori, who noticeably behaves much healthier than Omori, and lets him guide her and explain what's happening.
Shattered Omori brings Mari to Black Space, which disturbs her greatly, given the circumstances of her death. He introduces the Guardians, which Mari immediately recognizes. They then bring her to the Branch Coral and convince her to eat it to show just how bad things are getting for Sunny's mental wellbeing.
Depending on if Mari possesses her counterpart, the two would have a scuffle. Mari is determined to save Sunny, no matter what. HS Mari wants to continue existing with the HS crew and Omori, despite knowing that the Omori she knows is doing more harm than good.
On the other hand, if Mari only makes an HS counterpart of herself, she will instead request advice from the Guardians on what should happen to Headspace. Ultimately, depending on if the Guardians get into an argument about the best course of action, Mari will take Shattered Omori with and choose to do the only thing she thinks she can do to help Sunny.
Eventually, Mari encounters Omori to thwart his actions. Mari easily becomes the victor and helps Shattered Omori take his place back as Sunny's healthy conscious.
Part 2 (Loss Arc)
As for this, really the only thing that I can do here is have Mari come to terms that Mewo is not long for the world. This would have her struggling, as she can't save her beloved kitten from illness.
Sunny would also be broken up, as he feels like he's reliving Mari's death.
Mewo would become a ghost and be attached to Mari and Sunny, always with them and following them.
Eventually, Mari and Sunny would learn to accept that some losses can't be avoided. That doesn't mean they have to like it, but it does mean they can accept and recover from it.
Year 3
Part 1 (Conflict Arc)
Mari finally feels comfortable enough to reveal herself to the rest of the group (minus Basil, probably). Of course, there's tears and confusion, but everyone's just grateful to have Mari back in some way.
Mari goes over what she's been dealing with since she died. So the group and her friends have most of the story about what she went through in the afterlife. Not sure if some of the group would feel that Mari's anger is justified or i they'd simply feel sad that she went through that all alone.
HellMari decides to make a direct attack when Mari and Sunny are alone. Mari reveals her Fallen Archangel form to her brother on accident. Not sure if she'd attempt to run in a panic or not, because the Goddess would step in either way.
Mari ultimately struggles even more to control her FA form, only just managing to not let its power be directed at Sunny and instead directing it at a maximum security prison. The Goddess helps out by teaching Mari to control herself.
Mari eventually opens up to Sunny, Artist, and Hero just how fucked things got in the afterlife before being given salvation by Heaven and her good-natured counterparts. Mari eventually reverts to her normal form and cries openly.
Mari's FA emerges once again in the middle of the night and nearly harms Sunny. Mari saves Sunny and finally gains full control of her anger as she reminds herself that her anger is for the benefit of her family, friends, and home.
HellMari, weakened from her skirmishes with Mari, ventures to Hell to get power. The Goddess explains that she has to leave, confident that Mari is capable on doing things without her guidance.
Part 2 (Acceptance Arc)
The group finally focus on trying to help Basil. Though direct attempts are unsuccessful currently. They instead plead for Polly's help and Basil's grandmother.
Through this, progress is slowly made. Sunny and Basil interact with each other for the first time in years, with Sunny apologizing for leaving Basil to fend for himself.
Basil ultimately finds out that Mari's a ghost and panics, before being convinced to relax and hear her out. Mari expresses no ill thoughts towards Basil, despite not understanding his involvement.
Sunny privately makes the choice to explain to Mari how Basil was involved. Mari is not thrilled, of course, but feels that any anger would only make things worse.
Basil finally begins to accept his demons and let go of his struggles. Although the group and his family helped him, it is HE who makes that choice on his own.
And here's where I need to wonder if Sunny should confess his crime. Because I don't know if the other characters would really care what happened at this point.
HellMari returns and possesses Mari's corpse, transforming it into an abomination before setting out to reek havoc.
Year 4
Part 1 (Training Arc)
Mari begins doing proper martial arts training and regular exercising. Anything to help her not lose herself to her anger. Spending time with her loved ones makes her paranoid for their safety.
Mari explains what she's doing to Sunny, Hero, and Artist. Not sure how, but they'd make her take breaks regularly, both for her mental and emotional wellbeing. Mari shows her appreciation through affection, rather than words.
Mari begins willingly tapping into her Fallen Archangel form, slowly able to control it and maintain her sense of self yet again. Mari's more destructive actions come to light, which ironically helps her.
Here's the part where I'm not sure what I should do. I could try to have Mari attempt to communicate with the souls she had involuntarily eaten and attempt to apologize for her actions or I could have her spend time with Kel, Aubrey, and Basil, attempting to try and repair her friendship with Basil. Though she may not succeed in EITHER choice.
Mari begins getting creative with her elemental abilities and forges an odachi, taking lessons on how to properly wield it. She later makes it her preferred means of combat.
Mari and Sunny visit Mari's grave on the anniversary of her death. She can't help but be reminded of her mistakes. She can't help but feel like she was nothing more than an impostor in her own body. And proceeds to destroy her own headstone, metaphorically using it a sign that she has been reborn.
Part 2 (Ascension Arc)
Mari begins to become more powerful, testing herself. She's happy, despite still being dead. She's able to interact with everyone freely, thanks to her power boost. And yet, she's worried.
HellMari reveals herself again, targeting Sunny and Basil and putting them in the hospital. Mari sets out to kill her malicious counterpart, letting her anger explode on purpose.
And here's where things stop being different, the new final battle is still used.
The recovery and aftermath is the same.
The Goddess makes one last appearance to explain details to the group about everything. Despite the goddess alluding it, Mari personally does not believe that she and Sunny are reincarnations of anyone, but hopes that their past-selves are at peace with this.
Mari chooses to keep her godhood a secret from everyone outside of family and closest friends.
Mari only used her godly persona sparingly, as she does NOT want to abuse it and does not really want to be worshiped.
Year 5 (Epilogue Arc)
Nothing much changes from the initial epilogue, outside of minor changes to make it fit.
Mari does convince her goddess mothers to visit every holiday.
Sunny and the group learn more about the other versions of them besides what Mari said. They're happy that there are versions of them that are similar to them.
Sunny feels that there are versions of him who would intentionally hurt Mari…and just like Mari with finding out about her malicious counterparts, that motivates him to make better life choices.
Far future
Not sure how Sunny would die naturally this time, as he's not supernatural here. Though it would still be an illness. Mari's death would still be the same as I initially wrote it.
Outside of that, everything's the same. Mari does get old and more powerful as a result. After Sunny's death though, she ultimately chooses to depart as well, before having one last showdown with HellMari to prove that only Maris who care about Sunny, Hero, and the rest of their loved ones will always prevail and be remembered.
