This is the vfx breakdown of the breach scene in the meg, this used a cgi shark and a animated double of jason statham, this allowed them to adjust the speed of the shark more effortlessly, is a long and difficult process to create these digital stuntmen as they have to be a near perfect reprosation of the original actor as they get judged a lot more harshly due to the fact there cgi and still to this day people judge cgi even tho its a widely used technique.

The cage scene in jaws, this hole scene was completely underwater and consisted of 35 cuts and transitions to build up the panic and fear of this shark attack. During this scene when there was a clear shot of the shark the used a real shark to create the illusion of this being a real creature as at this time the shark was a animatronic and didn't look too realistic , this allowed the filmmakers portray a realistic horror movie monster.

The meg, a film based entirely in and around water, because of this they had the problem of filming inside of the water, when filming in the ocean you are trapped by having to work around and with the natural order of things, because of this the used a new zeland studio that had created two huge tanks that held a massive amount of water but it was completely man controlled which meant they can change the merkeness or clear ess of the water when needed, this acted like the ILM in san francisco which was used to film the mandalorian.

With this I attempted to create a better story board to help create a better animatic, I did this to help my animatic be clearer and more defined I later found out this didn’t work as the software I was using did not allow me to clearly produce a animatic.

Animatic, By making a Animatic it allows you to show what you want to be shown in the actual video but a simple sketchy version, this can be used to help visualise what the director or storybook artist envisioned when it comes to the video.
These don't have to be drawn tho they can be anything from stop start animation, photos but they are still most commonly drawn animation as somethings its the easiest stile to do and can be done very quickly but done with enough detail to clearly see what is going to happen and shows each scene in a broken down stile, usually these have voice overs for the characters and have the sound affects over the top to show what will happen in as much detail as possible.

Above is a web sight that goes into great detail about Animatics and how the help the film industry in both animation and live action films, This web sight is a great reference to animatics.

What I would change
If I wasn't under the same circumstances I would stick to the idea I had to begin with and go out and film the scenes I wanted but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to make due with videos I already had and could edit during this period because of this I didn't get the outcome I wanted.
I would've much preferred to of created the project I wanted to as I believe it would've required a broader scale of transitions and cuts and would've required a much higher caliber of editing which really would've allowed me to develop and learn more skills/techniques.
When it comes to the actual videos I edited I would've taken more time in choosing the music and in attempting to move the time stamp this would've greatly improved the videos quality, I would've also cut the video more just to simply practice cuts between clips and transitioning between shots, this would've helped me learn quicker for the future which in turn would help me create better peaces in the future.

This video was taken in France of a kayak trip down a river, By using this piece of video I was able to continue practicing and experimenting further with transitions this video was harder to do than the Spain one as it didn't have many obvious camera changes or scene changes as it was very similar the hole video this mad it harder to make interesting or hiding transitions but I still tried to make it interesting.
The video quality is not the best in this video which made transitions harder and more complicated as the video quality varied from video to video this made it so the jump cuts where very obvious and it made it seem very simple as kayak videos are very basic and very similar. This also limited me to what I could do with the videos.
The music behind the video isn't what I would want behind it but I had limited options as I could only use copyright free music which was also free, this made it so my choices where so little I was trapped in choosing a choice I wasn't happy with.

This video is a go pro footage from a Spain trip, in this video I attempted to hide my transitions by in a way blending them into things that had similar actions e.g. covering the camera or splashing and creating bubbles towards the camera. This helped me build on my transitions and experiment with just basic cuts.
This video has a time stamp which I attempted a few different ways of removing it and nothing affectively worked due to this I had to leave it in the video which decreased the overall quality of the video and made it seem rushed and sloppy.
But due to the circumstances I am overall happy with the outcome of this video even though I would still change things about it, I would love to use the colour editior on Adobe Premiere Pro to make it more clear or create more defined shadows and shapes to make the outlines of the people clearer or to even make the rocks and fish in the video clearer this would improve the videos quality better.

In this piece of film I changed the colour palette to make it seem more sad and less colourful. to do this I used the colour editor on Premier Pro to make the shadow colour palette more cyan / blue.
This also created the feel that this was a colder environment as it had a colder colour palette. This can be used to create the illusion of fog or bad weather as brighter and clearer colours are more associated with nice or hotter/ clearer weather.
I want to experiment with this a lot more as it can be used in so much to create shadows or create moods for the video, by changing the colours to a colder colour platte creates a mood which resembles sadness, depression, fear (this includes, blues, purples and greys) or if you use hotter colours like red, yellow, orange. These colours can show anger, happiness, excitement. Using colour is a huge part of film making because of this rule.

This video begins with the same piece of stock image but transitions into a snorkelling video, I attempted to disguise the transitions through scene that happen in both pieces of footage, in this case it was bubbles from the impact of the person hitting the water and the snorkelers splashing around at the surface.
I tried this technique on a previous video but I wanted to see if I could refine it and attempt to improve my skills as I do so. I kept this video very short as I only wanted to practice the transition between the first segment and the second segment which where of two completely different actions but similar environment.

Using Stock videos to practice editing techniques and abilities, I used stock videos to practice and experiment on techniques the video shown above me is a very basic practice on using different camera angels of the same video, this video has the same action accruing but in two different angels. this allowed me to make it seem like the camera is following the person jumping into the water.
This was just to practice switching camera angels affectively which was hard to do with these two stock videos as the person jumping in is a different gender and the impact was filmed at a different angel, but I still attempted to line them up and create the illusion that it was the same

These are still simple camera angels but are slightly more complicated these are great shots for films as they can be used in a number of ways, they can be used to show movement, scenery, dialogue and it can be used to intensify a scene, this shot of film is a simple but great technique to use, These camera angel is amazing for showing either somebody being stalked or somebody stalking somebody as it can show to character clearly which makes it perfect to show somebody following/ being followed.

Camera angels. The few shown here are very basic camera angels but can be used very well in a film or photos, these shots can tell the story you want extremely well if used correctly by utilizing the background on wider or shorter versions of these angels you can show lots of things in the background or hiding things in the background like in horror films, this technique is mostly used in films like “Friday the 13th” “Halloween” to show the killer stalking his prey. The same camera angel but shot in a close up stile can be used to show strong emotions like, fear, panic, anger and sadness. This has a completely different effect than to what the larger frame of field did, this shows the importance of choosing camera angles to suit your best needs this can easily doe wrong and can backfire if the director chooses the wrong one.

This is my first attempt at a story board granted it doesn't follow the traditional story board pattern but I believe it shows the story I wanted. After this I took the advice and tried to draw a story board that was more simple and just showed the basic ideas with that I wanted to see if that helped me improve my story board art at all.

This scene from Midsommar shows an amazing transition that I would love to attempt to recreate this either in my experiments or in a final piece of footage. This would work incredibly well when it comes to moving scenes especially if it's a large scene change like a change to country.

Video Editing practice. With these two short videos I practiced merely trying different techniques of using simple cuts but hiding them, the second video I was able to accomplish this more and I was able to hide cuts to the point were people who have watched it didn't notice the cuts until I showed them. I wanted to step away from using incredibly basic cut to blacks I experimented using technique I had researched during my experiments.
Both these videos are from a GoPro, the first one is from France and the second one is from Spain. These both where very basic as the where very long videos but of the same things. as the one in France was a entire 2 day long video of a kayak down a river and the one in Spain is a 2 hour long snorkel trip because of this it was very difficult to find good transitions of very basic videos because of this I had to improvise and truly try to look past the video and look for something that can turn into a enjoyable video to watch.
