You can not learn to practice the presence of God if you do not spend much time in secret prayer.

Prayer helps, prayer calms, prayer is a daily act. It doesn’t have to be long or with words, it can be a quick utterance or a tear. Pray each day, praise each day, pause each day in the Lord.

It doesn’t have to be long Perhaps the biggest lie Satan tells people about prayer is that it needs to take a long time. He will make you think you have to pray for hours before you have really prayed, but I am telling you that prayer does not have to be long in order to be powerful. They don’t have to be short to be powerful, either. The length of our prayers really makes no difference to God all that matters is that we pray the way He is teaching us to pray and that our prayers are spirit led, heartfelt and accompanied by true faith. I have learned to pray until I feel full and satisfied in my spirit and that takes longer on some days than it does others. I believe we can get so tangled up in the words of our prayers that we begin to lost power of our prayers. I want to stress again that there is certainly nothing wrong with praying for an extended period of time. As previously stated. I do believe we should all set time for prolonged prayer and that our willingness or lack of willingness to spend time with God determines our level of intimacy with Him. But I do not believe we need to labour to put in a certain number of hours in prayer apart from the leading of the Holy Spirit, out of a sense of obligation or as a work of the flesh. If issues in our lives really requires us to pray at great length, than we need to do that but we do not have to pray prolonged prayers just for the sake of logging time. When God challenged me to make my requests of him in as few words as possible, he simply asked me to be concise and to the point and then to be quiet. When I did I could not believe the increased power that came to my prayer life. To this day when I pray that way I sense more of the Holy Spirit power and presence than I do if I go on and on and on and on. - By Joyce Meyer

Praying is sharing your heart with God and telling Him everything. It’s not that He doesn’t already know these things. He does. It’s that He wants to hear about them from you. That’s because He wants you to depend on Him. He has sovereignly set it up that you pray and then He moves in response to your prayers.

When you pray, your prayers are heard by the same God who answered Moses’ prayer for water in the desert, the God who gave Abraham and his barren wife a son, and the God who made the slave Joseph second in power only to Pharaoh.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge
“Discover a blessing from God each day, and express gratitude to Him and to someone else for it. As your gratitude increases, watch your gladness grow by leaps and bounds!”
This challenge is issued by Revive Our Hearts.
Today I am thankful for prayer. Last night I heard a short message about approaching the throne of God boldly, because we have every right to be there due to Jesus’ sacrifice (scripture ref was in Hebrews). And so today I have been blown away by the fact that the god of the universe actually wants me to talk to him! And that He listens to what I say!

There is no wrong place to pray. I pray at my desk, on my living room floor, on the couch beside my dogs, in my bed, beside my bed, in the bathroom, in the shower, in the car on my way to work, walking down the street, in the morning when I wake up, in the evenings before I fall asleep. There is no wrong way to pray. I pray with my eyes, closed, with my eyes open, with my knees on the ground, standing up, sitting down, curled into a ball, holding my own hands, moving my hands around, raising my hands in the air, holding someone else’s hands.  There is no wrong way to say a prayer. Some days I repeat myself over and over, some days I cry, some days I get angry, some days I tell Him everything, some days I can’t seem to tell Him anything, some days I use flowery language, some days I use foul language, some days I use hardly any language. Help me, I whisper.  There is no wrong place to pray, there is no wrong way to pray, there is no wrong way to talk to our Creator, our Father, our best friend, our God.

It is when ministers and people wake up and are conscious of the fact that the power and blessing of the Holy Spirit is waiting for their united and unceasing prayer that the church will begin to know something of what apostolic Christianity is.

What a difference it would make if everything in our prayer life were subject to the one goal: I want to walk through the day with God. What strength would be imparted by the awareness that God has taken charge and He is with us: We are going to do His will all day in His strength.

Right now my prayer is for unity in the Church across the nation. Whoever is elected tomorrow, there will be many angry and upset in our communities and in our places of worship. The great thing about the Church is that it does have so many different people, but as polarizing as this election process has already been, I fear it will only get worse. And so I pray that we would be reminded that our hope is not in the government, but in our Eternal King who reigns over all.

In order to purify and stimulate our prayer, the Lord allows the Devil to painfully inflame our inward parts, so that we, feeling a strange fire within us, and suffering from it, may endeavor to bring into our heart by means of humble prayer the fire of God, the fire of the Holy Spirit giving life to our hearts.

I know that is some cute hipster girl in her November flannel and nails painted the exact shade of red that matches her mug and scarf that have absolutely nothing to do with the text. But good Lord, this prayer is one of mine. A heart to seek God is not one I always have, and can def use more of.

May Your Holy Spirit work in Your people a deep conviction of the sin of restraining prayer, of the sloth and unbelief and selfishness that is the cause of it, and of Your loving desire to pour out the Spirit of prayer in answer to their petitions.

Dear Lord,
I praise You for the fact that You call us into relationship with Yourself, that You desire for us to know You. You are the one constant and best thing in my life.
Oh but Lord, I feel so distant for You right now! I have been careful to avoid that sin and turn to You when tempted. But still I feel the same as if I had sinned. Search my heart, Father, and reveal to me what is keeping my heart from You. I miss the fellowship I’ve enjoyed and that I know You have for me!
Guide me in Your truths everlasting, and reveal Yourself to me, I need You so much, Father.
In Jesus name, Amen

There is something so inherently beautiful about the spirit of a woman that it attracts the favor of God Himself. God fashioned women to reign alongside men. We men need women to elegantly, gracefully, intuitively and compassionately join us in nurturing this ailing planet back to health. May creation itself rejoice as the daughters of God are restored to their predestined state of glory!
