ODE TO A GERMAN GRAPE A couple of nights ago we inaugurated this fun blind tasting format with a couple of wine friends on our Terrazza su Alba. The temperature was perfect, there was plenty of food and numerous bagged bottles of wine. Matteo @langaroundalba brought this spectacular Trocken Riesling by Sybille Kuntz wrapped in aluminum foil: 12% alcohol, very high acidity (just how I like it), nice and refreshing. Do you think I was able to blind taste it? In the picture, a few hints about the main wine descriptors. #oneonthehill #riesling #isforever (at Alba, Italy)

Cool, right? We even shot a little video that we’ll be available soon 🎬 Media survey: If you wanted to book such an experience? Where would you look? Who would you ask? Tag someone who might enjoy this in the US, we might surprise you and take a little tour next year! #oneonthehill #langaroundalba #privateexperience (at Alba, Italy)

Have you ever considered how challenging the wine business is? Growers and producers tend to the vineyard for the whole year, and the fruit is so delicate and so dependent on the weather condition, which in some cases might not be ideal, as you can see in the picture. On top on that, some wines like Barolo and Barbaresco need to sit in barrel for up to 5 years, which means 5 years before selling your product 😱😨😱 What’s your Saturday wine going to be? Drink it with respect, and try to imagine every single step that was necessary to bring that bottle to your table 🙏🍷🙏🍷 #oneonthehill #vines #grapes (at Roddino)

TUESDAY CHALLENGE - we are traveling! 🚗🚃✈️ Where are we? Read the story and provide your best answer! A long time ago two cities where contending a territory now famous for its wine, the fight was so long and harsh that they decided to divide the land in a pretty bizarre way: two knights would leave from the cities at the first sing of a rooster. One knight choose a white rooster while the other was black. The black rooster was kept in a cage for days with no food. Freed at the first light, it immediately started singing, so that the knight could win most of the land. Still today, the two provinces are divided by the same border. #oneonthehill #travel #gallonero

When it comes to aging, how do you like the oak on your wines? Small barriques from France, big oak casks made in Italy, toasted, fire bent, steam bent, new, old? 🤓🤓🤓 This one is made in Piemonte by the Gamba family, they select the best wood from selected forests and tailor the casks to the winery. Sometimes they even build them inside the cellar because doors are too small! (at Monforte d'Alba)

This Barolo is from a beautiful vineyard in the village of Grinzane Cavour, it is of course made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, 24 months in oak, no filtration, no clarifying. On the nose is very expressive with notes of raspberries, mint and tobacco. The palate is structured but not too aggressive and the aging potential is up to 40 years. Have you ever seen this label? 🍷 Who is the producer? 🤓 DM your best answer and win a 50% off first shipment! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 Tag someone who might know! (at Alba, Italy)

First day in Provence! Today we visited Chateau La Coste in Coteaux d’Aix, an incredible futuristic winery and art museum. Tadao Ando and Renzo Piano are among the many artists, the place also has a Michelin Star Restaurant and each art piece is conceived to be connected with the vineyards that surround the winery. A very interesting way to explore the relationship between multiple forms of art 👩🎨🇫🇷 We were not expecting any of this, Provence is way more advanced than we thought! 🍷🍷🍷 (at Château La Coste)

Provence here we come! On the way to Aix-en-Provence to meet the wine and jam expert @benjamincdx 🍷 During our quick stop in Brignoles we found this really old advertisement by Dubonnet, a very popular aperitif beverage at the beginning of the last century. Apparently it has been taken over by Pernod Ricard, have you ever tasted it? Have you ever been in Provence? #oneonthehill #provence #dubonnet (at Brignoles, France)

An afternoon with Flavio Roddolo is one of those experiences that are hard to put in writing: he’s one of the few people who can point at a vineyard from his house and tell you where him and his name are from, being the hill named Roddoli. ⠀ In this picture he was showing us his father’s wine from the beginning of the last century, which is tasting pretty good by the way! 🍷😬🍷⠀ Flavio is 70 years old and healthier than ever and is still making one of the best Barolo in the world, which was probably the best thing we learned from him! ⠀ WHAT A LEGEND! #oneonthehill #flavioroddolo (at Monforte d'Alba)
