Obligatory bi-monthly bird oc post ft. Me and my friends ocs. I'm having way too much fun doing cowboy world things what the fuck
It's obviously mentioned in the art but while Asa and Morose are my ocs, Draco belongs to my friend @The_Onisama on discord, who I love dearly
Meanwhile, in the desert...
... a very confused man is waking up with the desert gods leaning over his bed. This is exactly as stressful as it sounds.
The unfortunate man to wake up to find a chunk of the dead moon gods power in him in question, Miki, belongs to @clovejove while the gods themselves are my own ocs
I honestly can't decide which brush I like more, the softer one or my grainybrush— both have their charms
+ Bonus
Pax, the red haired cookie girl belongs to @glass.o on Discord
Cyro, the tall man in the night dress, belongs to @agender-donut

I drew this fanart to be the cover of a fic I was writing, back when the game originally came out. The fic remains incomplete (RIP my Anya and Daisuke interacting) so at this point I think I'll just go and post the art on it's own, so at least people can see it
The fic will remain in The Vault for the foreseeable future ig

NO WAIT MADOKA HAS ENOUGH KARMIC POTENTIAL TO BECOME AN IMMORTAL WORM, SHE'D NEVER BE SQUISHED, IMAGINE ALL THE WORMY POWER SHE'D HAVE
If a magical girl wished to become a worm would she be a regular worm or a worm with crazy durability, would she go out with one single squish or would she survive the squishing

Band AU where their manager (Le’Garde) goes missing and they go looking for him while also taking care of his daughter.
Cahara spends most of his time on the phone with Celeste. Enki is the “fun police” aka has to remind the others not to smoke or curse around the girl. D’arce is the only one with a license and is 100% a car karaoke person. Rag and moonless are just happy to have someone who will share snacks with them.
Trying to force myself to draw stuff even if idk where to start. This time was a car scene. Literally never drew a car/its interior before. This was fun if a tad wonky lol.

I feel like SAWTOWNE’s “Confessions of a Rotten Girl” is so good partially because of how it makes even people who may dislike fujoshis sympathize with Miku, and it’s interesting that it’s not actually done by painting her as “one of the good ones”. Everything that’s despised about fujoshi culture, Miku explicitly is portrayed as doing.
Disliking female characters on the basis of them “getting in the way” (and being quite misogynistic about it to boot), sexualizing and shipping men in real life (the men portrayed in the song are her teachers), and even the yaoi paddle known for being used to sexually harass cosplayers…
… all these aspects are there. Hell, one of the most disliked part about fujoshi culture from a social justice standpoint — the language of describing queer relationships as “sinful” — is the whole basis behind the song.
However, SAWTOWNE, instead of lessening that toxic trait, “yes, and”s it. “Yes, she calls queer relationships sinful, as a (presumably) heterosexual woman who finds their relationship gratifying. AND, the reason she does that is because she is a sexually repressed Christian who feels guilty about having any sexual desire whatsoever.”
I think that one (very clever!) addendum makes it so any discomforting aspects to the song takes a backseat. Instead of being a song about trying to resist an interest in yaoi / The Gays specifically, it more so becomes a song about trying to resist any “abnormal” sexual desires, which makes it very easy to like this version of Miku, even as someone who very much dislikes the aspects of fujoshi culture she represents.
Plus we need more gooner girl rep anyway, lol. (As a comment on the video said: close enough! Welcome back Plus Boy!)

People who haven't seen Madoka Magica might not know this, but both the characters Mami and Homura are magical girls who use guns as weapons. But while Mami's gun are magical, Homura's are literally just normal guns she stole from the government.

A sociable sunfish who was reportedly missing its human audience during a temporary closure of its aquarium in Japan has been comforted in an unorthodox way. In a photo posted by the Kaikyokan aquarium in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi prefecture, the sunfish is seen swimming in front of photos of human faces attached to a row of uniforms. The move was a "last resort" to solve the sunfish's health issues, which a staff member believed had stemmed from loneliness, the aquarium said on its X account earlier this month. And it apparently worked. "It seems to be in good health again!" the aquarium wrote on X the next day.
Really appreciating the photo

Have you ever liked a fictional character LESS after they went through character development framed as positive by the narrative?
Yes, because I didn't think the development was actually positive
Yes: the development was actually positive, but the creator wrote it badly
Yes: the development was well-done, but I liked them how they were
Yes, for another reason
No
Examples:
Option 1: Blorbo Bill goes through an arc where he learns to be nicer to others, but he was never mean, just assertive, and his arc involves him learning to people-please and hide his feelings.
Option 2: Blorbo Bill goes through an arc where he learns to be nicer to people, and he does genuinely become nicer, but it's rushed and unrealistic.
Option 3: Blorbo Bill goes through an arc where he learns to be nicer to people, and it's a good arc, but you're disappointed because you liked him as an asshole.

I just saw someone say it would have been a fitting narrative for Gai to die during the war and I'm gonna explode.
Gai's narrative is that he built his entire life around the idea that the best thing he can do for the people he loves is to destroy himself until it eventually kills him. And then it doesn't.
Gai and Kakashi surviving the war despite being set on dying there and actively trying to is capital to their narrative and development. They didn't survive because of plot armour or fan service. They are not saved by the narrative. They are doomed by the narrative. They are forced to live when they were explicitly and voluntarily seeking to die. They are forced to consider that they may have something to give to the people they love that is not self-destruction. They are forced to change the vision of themselves and their lives that they've built and fed since they were teens that their value needed to be proven and found in martyrdom, for they could not possibly be more useful by living.
Dying in the war would have been easy. Dying in the war was the goal. dying in the war would have fit the narrative they set for themselves, but their whole story is about how this narrative is forcibly taken away from them. And that's good.
