First Surrender this Season in LCS
Surrender in championship games, are you serious mate? Yes, you wouldhardly see a surrender coming in a match of such high magnitude. Even in rankedgames, players avoid putting up a surrender call because sometimes, a player ortwo have their on-going promotional series. Players in high tiers encourage others to fight till the last second, at least till the nexus is standing.
Though, it was unlikely, but surrender did come in one of the recent encounters in NA LCS which became only the first surrender of this season. Team Coast was forced to surrender by TeamSoloMid (TSM) in a game played on 22nd February between the two sides. Though, everyone was expecting TSM to win easily and God did they do that.
To start off with the team composition, TSM had a strong engage in the form Moakai and Vi which was backed up by heavy damage provided by Ahri and Jinx (Janna support). Team Coast on the other hand had highly mobility champions on their side such as Zed and Kassadin. Their support was Blitzcrank, AD carry was Sivir and Rek'Sai as jungler.
In the start, the typical jungle invades occurred. Following the trend of previous games, lanes were swapped and Team Coast's ADC and support was sent top against TSM's Moakai . This is where the game shifted towards TSM because Team Coast probably thought that Jinx and Janna would come top to join them. In my view, TSM wanted their ADC to stay as far away from Blitzcrank as possible so as to avoid those scary grabs. This is why Jinx and Blitzcrank did not appear in the same lane, especially in early game. The fact that Blitzcrank failed to do what he is made for, i.e. grab and that he also did not gain that much experience or farm to level up contributed heavily in the defeat. In the bot lane, especially in early game, Kassadin also didn’t get a chance to match the level of Jinx and janna, both of which had put great pressure of the outer turret. As expected, with the pressure exerted by TSM, Team Coast kept loosing objectives. In less than 15 minutes, almost all their inner and outer turrets were gone from the map. Team Coast, though at one time were close to taking down the mid turret but the supreme play from Janna prevented his from happening. With the ward control that TSM had over the entire map, they almost did whatever they liked. They had always cleared up their jungle. In the last 'sort of team fight', Team Coast's Zed fell for the bait led by JInx and attacked her. TSM were more than ready to join in. They took 3 kills of Team Coast and the game over there and then. It took TSM just 23 minutes to wrap up Team Coast. Though, with a surrender win, TSM may have an edge over Counter Logic Gaming (CLG).
