Okay kids, this is it.
I’ll be answering some asks that I have already waiting in my askbox, and I’ll make a post with my final thoughts on the show and the episode. And that’ll be it.
I’m done with Homeland, so I won’t be posting or reblogging anything related to the show anymore. The only thing I could still care from it is Quinn, but I can’t even find it in myself to reblog things or make things about him because it’s just too painful. So feel free to unfollow my blog whenever you want, and I’ll understand.
I feel heartbroken, devastated, disappointed, disrespected and furious. I feel the show just showed me the middle finger and laughed in my face.

Hard to pick the best passage to quote here (the whole last paragraph is right on) but I’ll go with this:
I don’t know if Homeland is the best show on television, whatever that means (since different series attempt different things for non-overlapping audiences, and pitting a dark Marvel entity such as Netflix’s Jessica Jones against Fargo or The Knick is daft), but it’s the most important show on TV in 2015, and not just because of its powers of prognostication. It’s gotten under the anxious skin of the here and now with heightened realism rather than by raising a fantasy construct or adding ornate wings to its own mythology.

What the hell Homeland??? Re: Carrie and Quinn, and oh... that.

OK I gotta vent! Look I get it. Homeland writers argued on whether or not to take Cariie and Quinn to a physical manifestation of obvious (at least on QUinn’s part) feelings. It was a big deal. Several of the writers left in wake of S4, and that had a hand. Fine, you were torn, we get it. But you went there. It’s done. But you’re clearly not sold on your choice. And now, because you want to avoid the elephant, you’ve jeopardized what you built in the dynamic — a duo viewers tune in to see. So, recap. You closed season four’s intensity with them choosing spend their lives together, only to have him vacate, sending off in-case-I-die letters to her, and BOOM Syria. Hello two years later… “I looked for you wherever I went” — “It doesn’t mater now” — See my point? OK fine, that’s how you want to skate it. BUT they’ve been pulled apart — AGAIN, and the dynamic we love has been all of one episode, and it can’t help but feel it’s because you are not wanting to really deal with the elephant YOU created.
And after ALL that “I’m not gonna leave you” and “I got shot and dragged myself to a dumpster to die quiet for you” drama — Carrie not caring enough to verify his death or show ANY emotion? Or mention him even a little? It’s all about herself, cause finding out who tried to kill her is the goal here…. and Jonas, who clearly left your ass. He would NEVER drag himself to a dumpster for you. *SMH*
Lastly, when did smart people become stupid?! Saul, really truly trusting Alison? COme the hell on! Dar and Saul better be in on this whole Alison thing, cause this is absurd a seasoned CIA officer Saul is, would be that dumb.
First 5 eps were near flawless.
I have no idea why you are going off the rails.

I know this is not going to be a popular opinion, but I am struggling to get excited about S5. It’s like one episode pulls me back in and then the next leaves me yawning. My hangups…
Carrie is isolated from her costars (Quinn and Saul) and so she feels less interesting. In my opinion, like it or not, Saul and Quinn make Carrie a stronger, more interesting character.
Quinn’s story is bouncing all over the place. First he was the angry, disengaged hitman, then the dying, emotional partner and friend to Carrie, now he is Dar’s guy, isolated from Carrie, and doing CIA spy stuff?? (Though cute bedhead he had.)
Dar is so melodramatic to me.
What is Laura’s role other than to keep needling Carrie for the damn documents? Honestly I wish they’d use her more - she feels like she could be important.
And Allison. I don’t know why but I can’t get excited about her. Great actress but it’s like the character is missing something.
Glad to see there’s something off about Otto. But it’s not enough to get me excited yet.
I don’t know. Last season I was hyperventilating during each episode. This season, I feel like I am waiting for something to happen and then I’m just flipping off the tv at 10:00p (or 9:50p really) and thinking, “meh.”
Maybe I am just not understanding the show the way it’s intended so I would love it if someone could explain things.
