So I’ve gotten into K-pop demon hunters but I’m sty hyperflixating on Danny phantom, So…

Considering all the physical abuse Danny has taken from Dash, this retaliation is pretty tame imo. I think the message was meant to be more of a "great power = great responsibility" sort of thing rather than "don't fight back", since Danny is using his ghost powers to do this, but I agree that it doesn't really land that way when this is pretty much the only time (iirc) we see Danny do something to get back at the person who's been actively physically abusing him for at least the entire time he's been in high school if not longer.

A lot of the show's narratives like this are teaching Danny a lesson of some kind. He tends to discover something new he can do, like get back at Dash for bullying him, and then take it way too far without realizing, and then have to atone somehow.

As far as Poindexter, I think I remember him specifically being trapped in the mirror - so he can only "see" what's happening through it? So it's entirely possible he just wasn't witness to anything significant until things started happening near that locker as a result of Danny having to use it. Though, if I remember right, it's all sort of kicked off by Dash shoving Danny *into* the locker, so I'm inclined to think it's just not very well thought out.

If all of Amity is Phantom’s haunt and poindexter haunts a locker on his turf, what does that make them?

I think he doesn’t claim all of Amity Park but his mobility extends his protection anywhere he can.

I’m also curious why Poindexter only showed up when Danny (the victim) tried to inconvenience Dash (the bully), when his whole thing is protecting others from bullying. I know it’s a misunderstanding but at no point did he ever show himself before that point when bullying happens all the time at that school.

Did he not haunt that locker before the portal???

Does it have to happen specifically in front of his locker for him to know? He doesn’t claim the whole school, but he can travel it.

When someone pointed out that it feels wrong for the two of them to meet for the first time it’s icky for the unintentional message to be don’t fight back.

Danny didn’t do anything bad if you think about it. I think I remember him doing something mundane and small with his powers just for a single moment and hasn’t done that before. So the one time he fights back….. then it just gets worse by the end of the episode.

Am I right about that? I haven’t watched in forever. Only osmosis of information.

Never mind, Danny. You should have just tied his shoes together.

This would be used in addition to the danny phantom tag, turning it into a true umbrella tag for everything related to Danny Phantom, while having a few major sub-tags for people to find exactly what they want.

After some more discussion with members of the fandom in the notes of my poll asking about a community and elsewhere, it seems like the better option for everyone might actually be a new tag, so I'm making a new poll here!

Some answers to questions I think people might have are below the readmore:

Q: Why are all of these only one word?

A: For the same reason the dpxdc tag is only one word! Tumblr's tagging implementation is Not Good. Tags with spaces don't play well with it, and especially don't play well with blocked tags. If someone wants to block non-crossover Danny Phantom content, we want to make it as painless as possible for them.

Q: What issues were raised around communities?

A: A few! To name some of them:

Limited interactions with posts: Communities only let you react with emoji and leave comments on posts reblogged into them. Not great, if we want to have long reblog chains riffing on one another

Original Posters aren't notified if someone else reblogs their post into a community, even if it's public. So if someone reblogged your post into the community for you, you wouldn't know about it -- or know to look for people interacting with it.

Communities have mods, and therefore would need trustworthy, engaged mods to make it work. Over a short time frame, we could probably manage it! But over a longer one, a community for an entire fandom would probably have moderator drama. That could lead to fracturing, or people leaving specifically because they don't like the mods, etc. A tag is a lot less active maintenance.

A few people also expressed a general dislike for the feature, even if they were willing to move to one. This seems like a much smaller change that will let those people stay away from a feature they don't like, while interacting with the content they do.

Q: What about less-common crossovers? Won't those get excluded from this tag?

A: They will. I'm asking about this poll first because I figured getting the community to make a decision about the other crossovers would be easier if we'd already decided on the non-crossovers.

The current idea is to move those to their own tag as well, so they can get dedicated attention from the crossover enthusiasts who love them. One of the people I talked to about this runs the niche-dp-crossovers blog, so it's on the radar. If you have concerns or suggestions about that, the notes on this post is as good a place as any to suggest them!

I actually get a bit frustrated when I see dc fans complaining about the Danny Phantom and Miraculous Ladybug crossovers on ao3 because it’s so easy to filter those out. You just go to the fandoms list and exclude em. Maybe exclude Danny and that ladybug girl and catboy as characters too.

You can’t do it that easy with the dc crossovers though.

I like Danny Phantom crossovers a lot, and that includes stuff like Teen Titans, Superman, Justice League 2001, and Young Justice. I can no longer access those without spending 10 minutes working around with the filters.

Not a fan of batfam crossovers? Just exclude Batfam. Oh? A good half of them weren’t under the batfam tag and were just under the main dc tag? Just exclude every batkid except Dick Grayson. Oh? A good chunk of them didn’t have character tags? Just search for Teen Titans specifically.

Well, turns out 10 of these are actually Batfam fics and have nothing to do with Teen Titans. And they don’t make that clear in the tags, summary, or the first 8k words of the fic since it’s all on the Danny Phantom side of things until chapter 4 when Damian Wayne comes out of fucking nowhere and calls Danny Danyal for some reason.

Please can we properly tag stuff, I can’t deal with the batfam takeover. I’m being entirely serious when I say that more than half of all Danny Phantom crossovers are batfam and there is no way to easily access other danny phantom and dc crossovers.
