the Watch What Happens Reprise scene evolved from the scene with Jack and the Jacobs family on the fire escape and you can't change my mind

in both scenes Jack is planning on finally packing up and leaving for Santa Fe because he feels the strike is hopeless, and in both a parental figure tries to get the message across that he has an option to stay

you know what else happens in both? a Jacobs sibling takes off the kid gloves and makes Jack realize that he's started something that's grown to be much bigger than himself

in the original, that person is Sarah, in the stage adaptation, Sarah is replaced by David (Davey)
