Wanted to animate some disco Elysium for agesss. Here’s some : ) I started because I wanted to get better at lipsynchs but then forgot and started animating sentient clothing. Horrific neck tie has no mouth but boy can he scream. I’ve been working on the cleanup for this for ages but I’m not sure I wanna keep going with it. Ive learnt so much I wanna just move onto something else. So posting this lil clip of the rough. Lots of mistakes but I’m super happy with it

made a runaway to the stars character; an avian dun with anxious pterotillomania (compulsive feather picking). Their scruffy look, bare neck and notched ear evokes a punk style - especially to those avians who are only vaguely familiar with the concept - and sometimes gets mistaken as an intentional statement.

having thoughts about schools of art. Can the 21st century internet be considered schools? Like the tumblr school of 2010? I cant identify a school of style thats going on now, but it might take a few years and hindsight to recognize it.

Social media is an echo chamber of things you like and algorithms show you things that are similar to what you already know. So its like a school where people learn from each other to develop a pocket style and its neat because the shorthand for what you need to say is already there!! (Can memes be a school of art? Its fun to think about)

BUT you might be tired of it! Thats ok. Or you might not want your communication to look like the other modes of communication and thats ok too. But you cant develop something unique from what you already know (alone). You have to feed your brain new stuff and you have to appreciate ugliness to develope new style.

Also as always im going to stress life drawing always. Always. You must learn to draw what you see and not what you THINK you see. You have to break your communication shortcuts into nothing. You have to add nothing to what you see, you have to communicate ONLY the thing as it is. Like sushi. You have to appreciate the raw material in front of you. I think maybe this bothers the ego.
