Thurs Check in
The first question that came to mind when looking over the info about hashtag use was kind of connected to the content analysis project and the strategy I observed my accounts use. Dr P noted that while there isn't a 'right' way to use hashtags there is definitely a wrong way. What is bad hashtag use? My accounts used a lot of hashtags completely unrelated to their content, but it seemed to garner them a lot of exposure... so is that bad hashtag use? @npfannen

While making my content for the h2wg, I learned a couple things. It is hard to recreate instagram format on google docs. It is easy to place a caption and a picture, but the lack of actual instagram makes me feel like I should rework it in canva a little. But I was a little confused about whether or not we should be using the platform we selected to make our content, if anyone has any answers for that please let me know!

This is a sample post with sample hashtags in my h2wg that I put together to display my suggestion of leaning into the job title the content creator chooses to select, even if it is meant to be silly. While they continue to post their regular cat content that is not gaming related, having a 'Gamer' job title gives this account the opportunity to cater to that audience a little rather than it being simply random.
Let me know if there's anything I could add to help display this better:).

This one is of my sample captions I'm using to display my suggestion of keeping the repetitive style of captioning for these accounts, but adding small tweaks to personalize the caption to the specific post.
Let me know what you guys think might help me display that better:).

Og content post 1
Tips and tricks in my h2wg:
Personalize repeated captions on posts. All of the accounts I chose on instagram utilize a very similar caption asking audience to like, comment, share, and then their slew of hashtags if they use them. I don't think the captions are of much value to the audience, so I don't think this would be a crazy change, but adding a little joke relating to the post within the repeated caption might influence the audience to engage within comments more.
Using memes that cross language barriers. All of my accounts utilize English only within their images, I think since the words are very minimal though there's a lot of opportunity to post maybe some in other languages that would probably open up who the accounts audience is a little wider.

Q's about revision of h2wg:
My first go at the h2wg was a very long essay, I tried to cut it down for the draft, but I still feel like it would probably be better in slides. My content analysis was also slides, should I try and pick a different way to display things like canva maybe? Or will the consistency Maybe help me keep things more focused? @npfannen

I think having videos in your slides will definitely keep things from getting too repetitive, which is something I worried about using Instagram posts in my presentation. I'm sure that will keep things fresh. Good luck!
Original Content Post 3
how will you integrate your created content so it's meaningful in your How to Write Guide? #writ318mu  #week11
Since I plan on doing a Power Point, I want to try and integrate videos onto different slides. I’m analyzing youtube videos so it make sense to create a video of my own. They might not be as creative as the videos that I’ve been analyzing but might take the form of more informational videos to align with the tips and tricks that I’ve noticed for the HTWG.

That sounds like it will be very easy to follow, I'm sure Dr. P will probably appreciate the focus on readability and organization overall. Aside from that though, that is a really interesting conclusion and I think it will probably fit really well into the format you have in mind. Good luck!

Each tip in my guide is based on the data I collected, like comparing static vs. mid-action poses. Static poses got more engagement across the board, so that’s the tip I give. Then, right under each tip, I’ll include sample content I made following that exact strategy. For the static pose tip, I’ll use a photo of me in a static pose. That way, my readers can actually see what I mean and copy the style if they want. It’s about making the guide both visual and useful.

I think a themed presentation is probably a great choice for your project! Especially one so creatively inclined, I think a presentation will help you match the energy of the content you're researching.
Rethinking Design
How are you rethinking style to design your How to Write Guide for a content creator audience?
I'm thinking of creating a nail polish themed presentation for the How to Write Guide. Using a themed presentation will hopefully make my tips and tricks easier to digest if it's themed around something all three of my content creators are familiar with.
I'm also planning on using quick, to the point wording and bullet points to fit into their busy lifestyle. My content creators are busy balancing running their successful nail polish business as well as organizing and creating content, so it's important that my guide isn't too busy or full of irrelevant material.

Having a good revision process is going to serve me in so many ways. For this class, I have really begun to understand the value in having a ton of SEPARATE rough drafts to look back on, and running up my google storage 10 fold. It's incredibly helpful though. It has helped me map my own thinking and see more value in my initial uneducated questions and points of interest that I got to circle back around to by the end once I had all my pieces in place. I am someone who typically has 1 doc where I revise and it was once a draft now a final. Separation has helped me organize my thoughts a whole lot better, and I will absolutely take that with me in all my drafting.

My final revision process looked like me going through all of the old drafts of this project again with a little less tunnel vision. I wanted to see if there were any points I initially was planning to tackle could be worked into my almost finished project. I think it helped me put my last reinforcements on my points and made sure I got to everything I was able to get to that peaked my interest initially. I looked at the data again objectively as well, which I know is impossible, but I tried. I made a new graph that I think helped me put some ideas into words that might've been a little too word heavy.

What I want to highlight in my H2WG is how different the suggestions for each account are. When I picked my accounts initially their content strategy seemed really similar, and it is to some degree, but the goals of these accounts has become increasingly different as I have come to understand their purposes more. I was really excited to come to that conclusion, researching 'cursed' memes has been so fun. Thinking about how to make an account 'mysterious' as a cat content account has been so strange and eye opening for me, and a great way for me to get the basics of understanding content strategy. So I will definitely be working on making this a big part of my h2wg. :)

Thursday check in!
Hello! I have a question about both the language shift for content creation and the h2wg. Starting off with content creator language, there is a lot of repetitive usage of pretty bland instagram captions that is common across all the accounts I've picked, and is typical of my overall community of creators I'm speaking to at large... My project discusses the content strategy involved in choosing types of visual image content to share... so when I create my content for the h2wg, is it appropriate to give suggestions that are not addressed specifically in the content analysis portion of this project, or should I only give suggestions about the content strategy addressed in my project? @npfannen

Mine is definitely based a lot on 'types' of content as well. That is a really good idea I think I should think about a little more for my own project. I have all my 'types' defined, but I think coming up with ways to make data out of 'types' can probably make data formatting a little trickier.
what is data within your space? How does this impact your analysis?
My data is based on views to type of content. This impacts my analysis as I need to show how the different content types do in comparison to each other. It is necessary to show these things in order to build a complete methodology on the how to write guide.

Having someone else look at the graphs and tell you what they conclude on their own is great advice. And yeah getting lost in the context of your project can definitely lead you into doing a lot of unnecessary work you end up realizing is completely off.... but thanks and good luck!
Original Content Week 10 - Post 3
• What are your ideas/suggestions for graphing your data so it's reported in multiple, meaningful ways?
I would say step back from the project and look at the graphs you have and if it’s clearly stating the information you intend to be shown. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the weeds of things as we flesh out the analysis. We can take for granted that the ideas we have in our head and miss they aren’t necessarily connecting as clearly on the page as we think they are.
Double points if you can get someone else to look at the graph(s) and have them tell you what they gleam from the data. While not necessarily a fool proof litmus test, having flesh eyes on things could help point out things you might be missing having it all in your own head.

I would imagine content created with the intent to educate on how to cook involves a lot of really unique content strategy specific to the 'how to (fill in the blank)' portion of what I'm assuming are YouTube videos. That sounds like it will be an interesting project, good luck!
Original Content Week 10 1/3
What matters about your audience?
My audience is a different type of content creator. The audience is chefs and food content creators. They are focused on bringing joy to people through two different senses. There content cannot just be visually pleasing; it has to taste good too. They want to educate and inspire others to be able create what they have created for themselves. Many chefs who create content around food also are teaching the history of food. They really want their audience to understand food.

I hope you are enjoying a little bit of the creative process that will go into that, I know I would. I was sure to pick something I would get to be a little more creative in recreating for the guide. But yeah I would imagine as a business owner content strategy has got to be key and keeping things cute and to the point is going to be important. Good luck!
What matters about my audience?
How to Write Guide: what matters about your audience?
For my how to write guide, my audience is nail polish content creators who also double as business owners that may have a busy schedule with other meetings during the day. My guide needs to be to-the-point and bluntly get my points across quickly and efficiently. These content creators may have other meetings to attend to and need to plan ahead of time to ensure everything gets done. These content creators will also value creativity so I will add some unique colors, fun visuals and an overall fun design to the project.
