Paint and foundation
Capturing the moment when foundation touching the paint. The first contact, interaction. How one fades into another after a moment the same as we get used to things after we getting to know them.

Summary of work progress
1. Major project research and visual investigation
I’m in progress of Annotated Bibliography development for Advanced Research classes. My research questions is:
What’s the role of sensory experiences in bringing attention to the present moment and how mindfulness influences wellbeing?
I will aim to research how to awaken curiosity through senses, slow down and practice the state of not thinking and being present. I aim to explore what it is like to look with fresh eyes, closely, beginner’s mind. Apart from literature review, I might create online surveys or systems.
2. Type experiment (click on below title to find out more)
Sponge stamps and fingerprints
Skin under the microscope
Sponge shaping
Laser cutting
Scans
3. Modular type & photography collection
4. Moving type samples (in progress)
Animations: Textures touch (feedback implementations) Microscope animation (in progress)
5. Digital books (feedback implementation)
6. Workshops (on hold)
7. Riso
Testing sheets - first tests wasn’t too good. My plan is to prepare several new ones for the future.
8. Mock ups (planning)

Modular type & photography collection
The modular type, I’ve created, is inspired by the shape of hand/fingers. As my project focuses on the sense of touch I wanted it to look like the touch medium - fingers. Overall, I’m happy with the final outcome. I think that the letters look imperfect and it’s easy to play with them/adjust the layout.
Most recently I’ve also started using a macro lens to look closer at different structures, nature and myself. I’m very happy with the final outcome, however, I think it looks very girly - probably because of the warm, pinkish colours. In the future, I will try to remain a neutral outcome of the photos.

Type experiment: Skin under the microscope
This experiment focused on looking closer at the skin. From the microscope photo collection, I categorised the pictures by the letters they look like. The further development will aim to create animation with the videos I made.

Type experiment: Scans
For this experiment scanned the letters from laser cutting experiment and printed text. While scanning, I was moving the object to achieve a distorted effect. This experiment aimed to picture the sense of vision. I really like this method as it was hard to predict the effect - In a way it’s difficult to control but can be very inspiring.

Type experiment: sponge stamps and finger prints

Since my topic relates to the senses, for this experiment I’ve decided to try out stamps and fingerprints. Thanks to these methods I could “manipulate” shapes of the letters by pressing the stamps/fingers against the paper in many different ways. I’ve made the stamps from the same sponge as in the previous experiment but slightly different shapes. I like the effect of this experiment as it the type have a crafty, organic look, depth and vibrant texture. For the next stages of the experiment, I would develop more letters out of finger prints only and use different colours.

In the further part of the experiment, I've edited the letters digitally and created textures out of them.
