ok one thing i love so much about one piece is that just like with the laboon story, you often get multiple retellings of the same thread by different characters and perspectives which you don't get as often in other shows

definitely part of this is that it's so long running so there's time to set up these callbacks without it seeming pedantic but it's kind of beautiful to piece together a reality from multiple perspectives the way it's done by oda, just fits the community vibe and the fact that there is no one black and white truth but so many shades of gray based on your own personal background
