Weaponised Incompetence
One of the best concepts I've ever learned about.
Love to see it, love to use it.

Feeling very grateful for my life right now - currently watching my boyfriend play BG3, having a snack and some soda, looking forward to our date night at the movies tomorrow.
I guess happiness really consists of the little glimpses of living wholly in the moment, before returning to the everlasting, inherent anxiety of our problems.

Me and my boyfriend love inventing new Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and I came up with this absolute mayhem of a monster:

How do you deal with "non-methodical" inputs from your boss?
So today I was responsible for running several analysis on my new client's digital marketing strategy, and I spent most of my morning and afternoon doing some research and setting up calculations for the most relevant KPIs.
Basically, I was comparing the effect of cannibalizing keywords of two distinct brands, and I weighed in Conversion Rate, Cost Per Action, Search Impression Share and Match Type. All nice and stuff...
...cue my manager, bulldozing my entire day with:
Boss: That makes sense, however, if the Search I.S. is over 30% then you MUST use it in brand A. If below 30%, then, brand B. Me: But what about the CPA? Boss: Yeah, just don't use that. Me: (already with a heartburn) Okay, but can you tell me why so I can adapt it for future analysis? Boss: It's faster that way, and I've already seen it with another client.
Now, I know that he's the expert and has the final say on that matter, but that leaves a sour taste on my mouth. Why should I develop new stuff at work when I am undermined by the "trust me, bro"?
And that from a company that is data-driven. Yikes.
When should experience and anecdotical insights undermine metholodogy?

I am very curious on whether they were created solely on mathematical / algorithmical methods, or there was some human "je ne sais quoi" intervention on them. Either way, amazing stuff.
