blog FAQ
who is this????
botam. any pronouns. :)
why should i care about the comics?
you shouldnt, but i wanna make you care anyway.
ok but are these comics good
no but thats never stopped anyone
what is this blog for?
its primarily for sharing the comics in a way that i wont get anyone in trouble, aka a liveblog. very sporadic activity, and ill even keep talking about the comics on my main too; this is mostly for 'larger discussions' about these comics, like an english-speaking hub of sorts.
will you post art here?
no i wont, youll have to go to my main blog for that. this is entirely text based.
why cant you share your sources for these scans?
i cant share them for two reasons:
for the ovenbreak-focused comics, the person who made these scans almost got into trouble with devsisters for publicizing the scans, and i dont want to get them into trouble again, so i wont share the source.
for the kingdom comics, its because the only place (that i know of) that has these comics updated... is an nsfw manga/doujinshi site. i know these scans are up on a safer, more well known scan site, but from what i can tell they havent been updated there in over two years. id rather not expose people to nsfw just for a stupid cookie comic.

a brief introduction to the cookie run comics, pt 2
a part two of introducing the basics about the comics to a larger audience. if you need an explanation on the comics in general, refer to the first post. this post will focus on the three most notable kingdom comics.
1 cookie run kingdom
Tumblr media
the first kingdom focused comic, and the only series (that im aware of) with an active scanlation effort (though i cant publicize it here, for reasons ill explain in a different post). started publication in jun 2021; it has pretty much no edutainment value in that its entirely serialized and focuses on a certain narrative, but its got a lot of potty humor and the lore and worldbuilding is a bit different from kingdoms game canon.
for example, as of now, gingerbraves main gang differs from the canon gang; chili pepper and custard 3 are there, but espresso, rye, and vampire all feature prominently, with alchemist, roll cake, and pancake also making appearences. like operation survival, the 'main group' tends to change as the story goes on. its very much Not an adaptation of kingdoms story, and you should not read it expecting it to be such.
2 cookie run kingdom school
Tumblr media
the edutainment sibling to the main kingdom comic, it says its about kingdom but from what i can tell it mixes kingdom and ovenbreak canon into something that entirely different from both. i have NO access to any scans of this series, so all my knowledge comes from namu wiki and rough translations of issue previews. its focus is on economic and geographical education, with an art style reminiscent of other series like the science fun and hanja run series.
in this series, gingerbrave has a rich uncle who doesnt know how to spend his money appropriately, and is one day admitted to an economics-focused 'kingdom school'. affogato and kumiho are supposedly in the main villain group with DE, poismush, licorice, ect, and there is a focus on the ancients' kingdoms, but more from an economic standpoint than a storytelling standpoint, at least from what i can tell; for example, apparently the dark cacao kingdom has gone through bankruptcy and inflation. thats about my extent of knowledge from this series, but ill try to figure out more if possible.
3 cookie run parfaedia academy
Tumblr media
a very shortlived comic series, running only from apr 2022 to mar 2024. its presentation style is similar to a fairytale book, a focus on narration outside of dialogue boxes with large detailed panels compared to the average comic book page. its notable for having a very unique art style being more reminiscent of the official kingdom art style, with thick lineart and shading.
the series takes place in an academy, with cookies of various ages enrolled to learn to protect earthbread, or something like that. from what i can tell, millennial tree cookie founded the academy, with the ancients being his sponsors/supporters. dark enchantress wants to destroy the academy so she can succeed in her evil masterplan, and i presume the plot of the series revolves around that. other than that, i dont have much other info on this series, but its a very shortlived series, so maybe i can figure something more out with just issue previews.
also it gave us a really cute millennial tree cookie. look at him. look at grandpa

a brief introduction to the cookie run comics
this post will serve as a short explanation on what the comics in general are, and list the most notable comics the series has had throughout its life. click the 'read more' to keep reading. this post will probably be VERY LONG, so ill have to separate this into multiple posts.
what are the comics?
i tend to use 'comics' as a catchall because i use it for comics and books alike. the comics have been around since ~2014, and their most notable feature is having a very different approach in the lore and world of the game(s), plus often having their own original characters. they are very detached for game canon, usually have an edutainment aspect (though not every comic is like that), and some of the most notable entries have pretty childish humor. potty humor is a common reoccurance in these comics, for some reason. they usually dont take themselves too seriously as a result.
1 cookie run adventure
Tumblr media
adventure is the earliest cookie run comic series, first publicated in jan 2014 and having ran until feb 2024, being also one of the longest-running. its also the origin of that really cursed human gingerbrave you may have seen every now and then, and commonly is cited as having a very unflattering artstyle. because of how early into the series' lifespan it was publicated, its got almost zero correlation to any current lore and is very much a wildcard, as far as my own limited knowledge of this series can tell (i have never found any full scan of any issue ever!)
its a geography and history edutainment series, focusing on the characters going around the world and learning about architecture, culture, and nature. the cookies also have the ability to humanize themselves, but the frequency at which this happens changes throughout the series. also for some reason the characters use different names from canon; gingerbrave is just called 'brave' and gumball is just called 'bubble'. its most well known original character is pay, whom i assume is the comics version of fairy cookie, but she tends to be so different from the canon fairy that its basically an OC at this point.
2 cookie run science fun
Tumblr media
this is one of the most well known comic series, starting publication in jul 2014. if youve ever seen a cover of a bunch of cookie run characters doing a bunch of vaguely related things, this is that series. its focus is entirely on education, with each issue focusing on a certain topic, usually regarding multiple kinds of sciences. its the opposite of serialized, and characters' personalities, jobs, and roles will change into anything and everything to fit the 'narrative' within a specific story. its also got a lot of potty humor.
if youve ever seen That One Cover of the cookies with a bunch of poop, this is where it came from. it doesnt have original characters aside from background NPCs, but the other thing the detective series is most well known for is being the origin of dark choco's young prince design! and i have the scans to prove it. for reference, superhero science released in 2017, and dark chocos young prince was canonized into the games in 2019. so i hope the knowledge that young dark choco and the cookie run poop comic share a source haunts you.
Tumblr media
3 cookie run hanja run
Tumblr media
hanja run is also one of the most notable series, starting publication in dec 2014. its also one of the few series to have some english translations available, albeit very incomplete. its meant to teach children to learn hanja, chinese characters used to write in the korean language. it also has the problem of wrong characterization at times and a lot of potty humor, but its less egregious than science fun.
i have very little knowledge of the hanja run series, but i believe it doesnt have any original characters that are notable in some way. it does however make a lot of use for pets, which in general are neglected by most comic series. and the franchise in general nowadays. lol.
4 cookie run operation survival
Tumblr media
operation survival is the last one ill feature on this post, and definetely the one my followers are most familiar with. if i had to compare it to something, its the archie sonic comics of cookie run, which is simultaneously a bad and a good thing. its the closest to a proper serialized comic the series has, but it still has a focus on edutainment, especially health and wellbeing. it has a ton of original characters, including the fan favorite chancellor cookie, a focus on worldbuilding, and is the origin for a lot of out of context panels that people like sharing around. itll probably be my biggest focus for this blog also.
it began publication in feb 2015 and ended on issue 50 in oct 2023. i know it features a few kingdom cookies, because black caviar shows up in the later issues that i dont have access to, but its focus is primarily on ovenbreak/kakao cookies and original characters. for the first 35 issues, the main antagonist is demon king cookie, but starting in issue 36, the dragons become the main focal point. it also originated a few 'headcanons' that used to be more popular pre-2020, including herb being sea fairys son, and dark choco x peach cookie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
finally, because i probably wont be mentioning these anywhere else, theres a few other solely-education focused books in the series, most of which were sort of short lived. spelling fun, personality school, and brain development quiz, the latter of which i actually have a scan of. (i think spelling fun was also scanned, but i dont have it) i dont know much about these, to the point these images were obtained from namu wiki, but i wanted to mention them regardless.
