The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown! In the Philippines, Meycauayan, Bulacan is renowned as the center of world-class craftsmanship in fine jewelry-making. It is also home to the Villarica Family, owners of the Villarica Pawnshop chain. We are very grateful to them for stepping up to the challenge of creating this masterpiece. More than their expertise on gems and jewelry, they provided us with valuable insights on the significance of precious stones and what each one represents. These gems are emblems of dreams, ambition, happiness, pride, self-worth, and empowerment. Having a point-of-view as informed as theirs allowed them to make a crown that truly looks and feels special. This is another major contribution to the cause of Women Empowerment from the same group founded by an empowered Filipina— a group that, until today, continues to place their belief in maintaining an all-female staff.#PhenomenalWoman #Filipina #MissUniversePhilippines2020 #MissUniversePhilippines #villarica

BEAUTY QUEEN PHILANTHROPIST SPENT BIRTHDAY WITH JEEPNEY DRIVERS
By Noli A. Berioso
Reigning Elite Mrs. Philippines International 2020 Michelle Vitug Encarnacion celebrates her birthday today September 15 with close to sixty public utility jeepney drivers in Barangay Bulihan Silang, Cavite where she distributed bags of groceries and hygiene kits.
The iconic “King of the Road” was one of the major casualties of the corona virus outbreak as the local government imposed a total strict lockdown that impaired thousands of jeepney drivers throughout the country.
Vitug Encarnacion is very well-known in the pageant industry for giving back to the less fortunate for all the blessings and abundance that came her way. “I am into public service even before I was got involved in the world of pageantry” she says during a brief interview. She’s been into supporting and helping various charity institutions and foundations by conducting feeding programs, distribution of school supplies, granting scholarships for deserving students and many more.  She was joined by close friends and other volunteers in facilitating the charity event. (Mr. Alex Moico, Road Manager and officer at the Office of the Solicitor General, beauty queens Sammy Anne Legaspi and Pauline Abygail Ebora and close confidante and a Bb. Pilipinas alumna Ms. Jovita Laureola).  Barangay officials of Silang were also present headed by Kag. Carmen Fajardo Cago-Ampo and Kag. Juling Almendras Lanting.
An entrepreneur by profession, Michelle is the CEO of Belmere Skin Care Centre, a popular wellness and beauty clinic with branches in Shaw Blvd and in Quezon City. Just recently, she started a new business venture which is very essential and timely for the current situation of our country. “Together with my few business partners, we conceptualized “Pharma Aid”. I believe in the mantra “Health is Wealth” and it is my little way of helping out to combat the fatal covid19 virus by providing essential products and services to the people for the protection against sickness”, she says.
Michelle is still looking forward to represent the country in the next edition of Mrs. Elite International in Singapore. “Most likely it will going to stage next year. The lockdown enables me to unwind and spend quality time with my family. Hopefully I can resume my training and preparation for my international competition by early next year when everything is expected to get back to normal”.
 Happy Birthday Ms. Michelle!

BUSINESSMAN PHILANTHROPIST LAUNCHES VIRTUAL CHALLENGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO HELP THE ENTERTAINMENT AND PAGEANT PRESS IN TIME OF PANDEMIC
By Noli A. Berioso
LBGTQi noble personality and Mr. Gay World Philippines Organization top honcho Wilbert Ting Tolentino has launched a virtual competition in social media for the members of the press and pageant bloggers primarily to give assistance and to keep the spirit of the industry that is close to his heart alive in this time of crisis. Tagged as SIR WIL MEDIA CHALLENGE, the online contest attracted hundreds of applicant with more than fifty correspondents from various newspapers, websites and blogs in the country made it to the final list.
An active member of the LGBTQ community here and abroad, Tolentino started to conceptualize online competitions early this year when the news about the lethal virus has reached Philippine shores. Initial feedbacks both from the participants and followers were overwhelming starting from the inaugural online search “The Queen of Lockdown 2020 Pagirl/Pahard Challenge”(for gays), six more virtual competitions followed with different themes in a span of 3 months : SIR WIL CUTIE CUTIE QUEST CHALLENGE ( for families), ONLINE STAR INFLUENCER SEASON 1 and Season 2 (for social media influencers), SIR WIL DRAG QUEEN CHALLENGE – THE ULTIMATE IMPERSONATION CONTEST (for impersonators and entertainers), THE PHILIPPINES’ MOST BEAUTIFUL BEKI ONLINE PAGEANT – QUEEN OF BECOi 2020 (for Gays and Transgender Women), WIL OR NO WIL GAME SHOW ( for everyone), GINOONG QUARANTINO 2020 * ( for entertainment, ramp, TVC male models and male pageant aspirants).

A multi-title holder of various contests here and abroad, he consistently championing the LGBT community by organizing pageants that are distinctively pink and gay. His winners were mostly triumphant in their respective competitions notably the two representatives in Mr. Gay World pageant (John Raspado and JanJep Carlos in 2017 and 2019 respectively).
In between online virtual contests, he also makes it a point to do his share in supporting our frontliners who volunteered themselves as part of the government personnels to combat the fatal virus and the less fortunate people by providing them basic needs (foods, medicine etc.) to ease up the burden brought by the fortuitous contagion.
To date, the single parent entrepreneur had given-away prizes in cash and in kind worth close to Two Million Pesos (P2,000,000.00)  to the winners and participants of the online contests. With the enormous success of the series of competitions members of the LGBTQi and people from all walks of life can now expect a ray of light to strive and be optimistic in spite of all the hindrances that made most of us unproductive in the past months.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the officers and staff of the SIR WIL MEDIA CHALLENGE AND OTHER ONLINE SERIES CONTEST for the opportunity to be productive during quarantine period and we look forward to more worthwhile projects in the coming months until life gets back to normal.

BEAUTY QUEEN-PHILANTHROPHST SPENDS BIRTHDAY WITH STRANDED OFW AT NAIA – TERMINAL 2 Text and Photos by Noli A. Berioso Commission on Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines commissioner Limpayen Sibug Las celebrated her birthday last June 5, 2020 with hundreds of stranded OFW passengers at NAIA Terminal 2 in Pasay City. The beauty queen turned philanthropist is the reigning Mrs. Philippines Asia-Pacific All Nation 2019. Together with another queen Glynes Evangelista Olbes (Mrs. Philippines Asia-Pacific Intercontinental 2019), they joined forces to distribute relief goods to our silent heroes OFW who were either stranded from going out of the country to start their working contracts or going home to their respective provinces. Ms. Sibug Las, a member of the royalty clan of the Manobo tribes from the southern part of the country is a consistent supporter not only of the indigenous people but also of others who are in need of help and services. Queen of Hearts Foundation founding President Mitzie Go-Gil was very much stunned and elated with the gesture of her two reigning queens. She said that the organization is in full support to help the needy kababayans like those who were stranded in different terminal airports in the country. She also pointed-out that their effort to reach out to people who were affected by the on-going pandemic is a continuing project of the foundation. Olbes on her part was ecstatic to announce that the search for the next batch of queens is on-going inspite of the crisis that started almost three months ago. Sibug Las and Olbes were both recipients of various special awards at last year edition of Mrs. Asia Pacific beauty pageant. Go-Gil says that preliminary events for the 2020 search has started with virtual judging for the Introduction Video and Advocacies of the candidates were almost complete. She is optimistic that this worldwide pandemic will come to an end in less expected time and to give way for the continuation not only of their works in the organization but for the entire nation when everything gets back to normal.

Who is ‘Lysol Girl’? The story behind the photo of a woman disinfecting a bridge railing that went viral amidst COVID-19 Outbreak
On the morning of March 12, 2020, before the whole Metro Manila went ballistic over the announcement of a region-wide community quarantine, a photo of a public official using Lysol Disinfectant Spray on the railings of a footbridge has made rounds on social media—gathering hilarious remarks, criticisms, and even harsh insults from various netizens.
Though she was called out by some informing her about the proper way of disinfecting during a pandemic, most of the banters went out of hand and below the line, to say the least. Had they known, that singled out snap is only a part of the bigger picture this so-called “Lysol Girl” has been doing for her community.
The woman in the photo is Barangay Alabang Chairman Christine May Abas, or more endearingly known as “Kap. Tin-Tin” by her constituents. Upon hearing news of increasing confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, she called for an emergency meeting with her co-officials and decided to create an Anti-COV19 Task Force as an immediate response to the need of securing public safety in her barangay, knowing that Alabang is one of the busiest areas in the city when it comes to public transportation.
The following day, the newly established team started getting its purpose going: disinfecting various areas in their community and handing out alcohols and hand sanitizers. It was after this activity that the heavily criticized photo was taken, as Abas actively led and joined her team in the initial launch of their fight against the outbreak.
Although using the Lysol Disinfectant Spray on the footbridge railing is undoubtedly humorous and questionable to many as a waste of resources, it was only a very minor detail compared to the whole initiative. One could argue that it was done in good faith as Abas did not want to be left doing nothing while her whole team was on the go. The misguided use was also ceased accordingly on the following days as Abas and her team continued their mission in the remaining areas of their barangay. As of today, March 13, 2020, the Barangay Alabang Anti-COV19 Task Force has already disinfected 14 areas in the span of 3 days.
At a time of public health crisis and panic, it is important to take note how we could use the power of social media in helping and protecting each other: choose to be compassionate and informative, instead of being discriminative and destructive. As such, in calling out, it is better to educate rather shame; and for those being called out, learn to listen and take criticisms constructively to improve yourself and whatever you are doing. Yet shown in a bad light, this whole craze should at least encourage us Filipino nation and our local government units (LGUs) to work together against the COVID-19 outbreak.
