Reblogging this bc im thinking about it again. Absolutely no hate to ppl who hold this opinion you do what u want, but i so disagree with the take that zoro is choppers dad. Yes bc hes babied, but also bc he not much older man is put into a parental role to chopper who is only 4 years younger then him. Zoro absolutely takes on mentor role to chopper but I’d argue thats its more brotherly then anything. The father son dynamic kinda devalues zoros relationship with reliance. He wants to protect everyone and wants to take on that task alone. A parental figure in fiction will take on a burden to protect their kids without asking for much in return. this dynamic goes against Zoro learning to rely on his crew.
definitely not what i normally post on here but ive been thinking:
I actually firmly disagree with the idea that any of the main 6 straw hats (Luffy Zoro Nami Ussop Sanji Chopper) take on a parental relationship with any others. They r all very close in age chopper being the youngest at 17 and Zoro and Sanji the oldest at 21. Their relationship feels more sibling-like. In my eyes they all equally take on a protective and protected role.
I think its also important to point out an example of this in particular chopper as hes often babied. Chopper takes on a protected role as the youngest in the group. But hes also their doctor, when the straw hats r hurt chopper takes care of them.
#again to repeat im not coming after ppl who like the father son dynamic#i’m aware a lot of people see it more as a joke rather than anything else#this definitely a non issue lmao#opossum speaks#straw hat zoro#ronoroa zoro#straw hat chopper#tony tony chopper

With a Steel Ball Run anime on the horizon, I think it’s going to be a real test of media literacy for a lot of people. “The President of the United States wants to use the desecrated corpse of Jesus Christ to turn his country into the most powerful nation in the world” is a pretty potent allegory already, not to mention the fact that it’s being covered up with a ‘patriotic’ sporting event and that he treats African-Americans, Native Americans, disabled people, immigrants, women and children as either tools or obstacles based on whatever’s most convenient to him.
I won’t fault anyone who doesn’t notice the first time around, but I think that the people who will double down on calling Valentine one of the ‘less evil’ Jojo villains are going to be saying a lot more about themselves than sbr.
