a rather peculiar event is going on, @ingoldentent
A shadowy figure made his way through the city, the person in particular avoiding his best to be seen at the moment. His destination? A particular mansion owned by who the man considered to be a rather revile couple. At least to him. Though he may not know exactly who may be present at the moment, it was the only place that he could find answers to his current, strange predicament.
Images in his mind guided his path, his way through to make it to his destination. A destination that he should not know yet in his current state such a thing came to him like second nature. Such thoughts were troubling, but at least they served a purpose. For now, all he needed was to find one person. One man in particular to get to the bottom of this mess. And that man was Battler.
The man whoâs face he now had for some reason. Well not just his face, but his entire body as well. Whatever damned scheme was going on, Shalem was not going to be made a fool. Even if he currently looked like a fool.

( â ) It was these personalities that meshed with her best. The professional who understands, and compliments with. âHeâs losing blood fast..â Muttered words come from lips and she looks over, words now flowing like thoughts. âI canât move him. If I do heâll have even less time than he does already.â Acting quick she moves hands over to entry point of the bullet, before moving to head then back. âCheck for an exit wound. See if-â It left the body. Which eyes would confirm, as a order would finally come from her. âPut on some gloves. Then, grab as many gauzes as you can.â
While he would do that, the patient would be set down once more before she applies force down on the wound. Keep the bleeding down while she waited, as the flow seem unending. âYour life will be saved. Your life will be saved.â Words at this point was for her own sanity, or maybe a lack there of. The wounds of war never did heal, and this was very much a reminder of that.
He did as the woman asked without question, eyes meticulously scanning the body. Old motions and skills awoken themselves, guiding his actions through muscle memories developed near decades ago. It seemed that no matter how far he could distance himself from his past, one could never forget the ability to preserve a life.
âBy the amount of blood this man has lost, he must have been hit somewhere vital.â Gloved hands reached towards the bag, pulling out ample amounts of gauze in return. âLeaving him like this is going to kill him for sure. If we want to preserve his life, we must move him so we can treat both sides of the wounds. Otherwise...â His voice trailed off, hands readily offering the supplies to the woman. He was just an assistant here, the rest was her decision.

âI am. Itâs unlike any gun Iâve ever seen before.â
Though his voice didnât carry any emotion, this was about the closest the abnormality to get to being in wonder. He leaned down to get a closer look at it, mindful to not get too much into the strangerâs personal space. It was far more advanced than his rifle, and he wondered how well it shot. He didnât make any moves to try to touch it though, remaining respectful of his space as he leaned back up to his full height.
âYou are a hunter, yes? You care for your gun well.â He could respect anyone who took good care of their weaponry, and he wondered how skilled he was. If only he had his own rifle, they could test their mettle against one another. Alas, he had no such luxury.
âHow did you convince the people in power to let you keep it?â
âI didnât. I came into this city and I had it on my person when I arrived. However, I have an assumption that it might be because of what happened to me in the past.â
Hefting the rifle a bit, Shalem looked it over again. He didnât feel too much need for what was going on, but being able to say what he thought was going on did help to keep his mind clear. At least better than not having to deal with the fact he was trapped in another city.
âThis isnât the first time Iâve ended up in a place like this. Iâve done quite a bit, gone through many a trial, and now it seems that all that time there still reflects to my time here. Perhaps thereâs a connection, or maybe whoever is in charge believes I went through enough as is. Either way, I have this rifle now and thatâs all that matters. If you stay long enough, maybe youâll get your own rifle back soon enough.â

â Unlike you humans I donât need to open my eyes to âseeâ. I analyze. Removing my filter would actually be way more inconvenient in this situation and ill-advised, Sir. â Yeah, not like heâs going to know what the hell sheâs talking about, but itâs a hassle to explain.
â Well then, shall we compare our sight? What I perceive is a frozen lake, yet underneath this sheet of ice those peculiar fish are as lively as ever. I would describe it as odd and therefore beautiful. Do you not agree? â In other words, AK-12 finds this beautiful because it seems inherently wrong and unnatural. Words that could very well describe herself.
You humans. Well that was a particular term that was quick to set off the asassinâs mind. Clearly any preconceptions he may have had were now thrown out of the window. But Shalem kept a cool face, simply glancing at the woman with a steely gaze.
â... So thatâs what you see? Well, Iâll tell you what I see,â Shalem remarked as he moved his eyes towards the frozen lake, squinting with concentration as he analyzed the ice. âI see a surface that seems smooth at a glance but ultimately has its unevenness that can catch someone unaware. Though it may seem capable of holding a person up, all it would take is something hitting it with enough force to break the ice. Could lead to a rather grisly end if anyone was on that lake when it breaks.â

See? His reaction should be more than enough confirmation and affirmation of her previous deduction regarding each personâs capability of deciphering or seeing how things are. Illusion would be the best word to describe this phenomenon. However, things are real all at the same time. Their life is at risk, thatâs for sure. Enterprise is not wishing for anyone other than her getting hurt despite her personal vendetta against this guy.
â Like I said, you can see what I canât and I can see what you canât. Perhaps our other senses work the same. What I think as real is not existent to you. At this rate, working together might only backfire to us. I wanted to propose you my temporal service until Iâm sure you have reached a secure place, but seeing how this work⌠âÂ
Thereâs a slight doubt that they could escape flawlessly should harder obstacles rolls towards their way. Of course, if the guy still wishes for her help, the Carrier is more than willing to lend him a hand.Â
â Do you want to have me by your side or not? Your call. â
â... Are you saying youâre willing to abandon me just because of some new bit of information?â Shalem answered accusingly, eyes narrowing. âIâve committed myself to whatâs going on now, and if youâre going to simply leave me out to hang then why did you even bother offering assistance in the first place?â
He sighed, rifle at the ready as his eyes darted here and there. The situation was getting more and more dangerous by the second. Hesitation here was only going to get someone hurt. Someone that could be him.
âIf you want to run away from me, fine, but at least show some commitment in helping out. Relative safety is still not too far, at least there Iâll feel less angry at you deciding to leave me behind if you decide thatâs better.â

Stepping onto the icy lake in Cotes Ward with ease, AK-12 quietly watched the scenery below the frozen surface. Not something she could see from whence she came. Perhaps something like that existed in the past? Who knows. She had an entry about these fish in her database, but seeing it in person was a different thing.
Of course sheâd noticed the man nearby long ago, only now choosing to greet him as they were crossing paths. â Beautiful, right? Even tall, scary men could enjoy this view, it seems~ â Everlasting smile on her lips, no one could tell whether she was mocking or praising him for his stern appearance. At the very least, she was in no way intimidated.
@opticallyenhancedâ
The sudden chill that had come across the ctiy was not exactly what the assassin anticipated to happen. Considering how everything seemed to more or less stay generally steady, a sudden change in temperature would be unheard of. Yet with the gentle snow and icy frost in the air, Shalem found himself having to deal with the chill. Though it seemed that there were others who were clearly not too badly affected by it.
âWell, I would say it is rather interesting sight. Though then again, I can hardly see what you see so beautiful about it, especially with your eyes so shut as it is.â Shalem shoved his hands in his pockets, the cold nipping at his finger tips. âDo you see something that I donât in such a way then?â

opticallyenhanced liked your post â starter callâŚ. at four! â
âYou seem ratherâŚwell informed.â a dozen men to choose form for tonight, and she chose him. Well perhaps its because there is a sense of life and entertainment in his eyes as she talks to him in the bar.Â
âMm, any dark secrets in this city I should âŚknow?â
â... Informed would be one way of saying it, depending on what youâre talking about.â
The assassin gave the woman an odd glance, taking a moment to look her over. Despite her obvious... strangeness, he simply decided to chalk it up to the kind of people that this city seemed to indulge in bringing in. Threats could be dealt with in time, if threats proved to be real.
âThough I am afraid to admit that I myself am not too familiar with the dark secrets this city may hold. Yet there are some things I may be able to make an educated guess upon, if you wish to hear me out.â

As soon as her blue hues recognized a familiar silhouette, her entire being seemed to light up. Could it be.. really him?!
This had to be Shalem. There was no doubt about it. Those sharp piercing eyes that could cut through steel, that simple yet elegant suit⌠It was him! Of course, their relationship was definitely dubious to say the least but she would be lying if she said she didnât miss him at least a little. One of these days sheâd get a reaction out of him againâŚ!
âShaaaleeeeeeeem~!â the witch shrieked, lifting up her dress and making a run for the male. Oh, he was in for it now!
âH-How unsightly of you to not come to my halloween partyâŚ! As a gentleman you should at least have manners, riiiight?! An invitation from the golden witch herself must not be trifled with!â
Now this is was a meeting which the assassin did not have any joy in. Such an annoying woman, so brash and loud, demanding so much like a spoiled child. He could only scowled in response as he watched this woman approach him. Her shrill voice tempted him to reach for his gun.
âHmph, how quick you are to assume such a thing. Clearly you are unaware of what goes on in this city, and what goes on in your very own parties. If you truly had any idea of what I was doing, you would know that I was in fact attending your little... âpartyâ of yours for some unfathomable reason.â
Regret was quick to have when dealing with such irritation. And Shalem had plenty of mind to find escape from all this. Yet to simply run would not do. That would be a sign of weakness. To stand his ground was the only appropriate thing to do.
âPerhaps if you did not spend your head in the clouds you would see things more clearly.â

âI was following someone that was kind enough to show me the way to my house here, but I seem to have lost them. If itâs not any trouble, could you help? I think the house number is on my âphoneâ right here, but.. er..âÂ
Cheeks tinge pink now. The embarrassing part.Â
âI canât⌠exactly read, persay.â
â... Hmm?â
It was a bit odd to hear someone admit they couldnât read, but in this city strange things were bound to happen. A bit of french though was enough to at least give his attention a bit more.
âSome help here, hrmm? Let me see then...â
Glancing down at the phone screen, Shalem squinted as he read what was being displayed. It took him only for a few seconds before he realized something.
âAre you sure this is right? I donât think thereâs any house number on this at all. Just a random string of letters and numbers here. Have you been pressing the screen?â

Violet irises squinted towards the direction he inquired. Nothing. Odd. Thereâs only one conclusion she could pull under this predicament; that he couldnât see what she sees and vice versa. However, the capability of monsters attacking them out of nowhere is high, and no one knows how lethal should the projection of their version of the monster attacks them. Truly it is the worst scenario that could happen anytime.
â This is just a hypothesis but possible. You canât see what I saw and I canât see what you saw. I suppose you could pull your own conclusion under this situation. â She better finishes her task as soon as possible and scoots away to somewhere safe in order to not mix their view together and increase the possibility of getting ambushed. â Once Iâm assured that youâve reached a safe point, Iâll go. â
Coming to a stop, the assassin turned around fully to face the woman. Her sudden statement was enough to divert his attention away from their current situation to try and decipher what was just said. Selective perception? Now, that wasnât exactly too insane, but the idea that it was possible was still an odd thing. Dangerous thing if it was true.
âSeems rather possible, considering whatâs going on in this city. But even still, that alone shouldnât be too much of an issu-â Shalemâs words stopped as his gaze turned down towards the womanâs feet. Or more notably, the rock that the woman was somehow sticking out of. A rock that the assassin knew he had to step over earlier.
â... What the hell is going on?â The assassin pointed towards the rock in question. âHow the hell are you doing that?â

Whatever the guy is speaking, she doesnât really put it into heart and mind. For now, she could only follow suit and speak as little as possible. The appearance of Sirens from somewhere far far away did take her attention, but once he spoke as if it is nothing, Enterprise decided to shrug it off the way he did. Maybe, sheâs just exhausted.
â Something was indeed there, but maybe we arenât detected on their RADAR. We should go as soon as possible. â Debating would only result in another waste of time, Grey Ghost decided to stay silent and move on. Skill is not limited just by the presence of weaponry, she believes.
âFor once I agree with you, so letâs hope that we can keep it that way.â At least he was getting no disagreements now. Good for now, and hopefully nothing wonât change that. Keeping his rifle at the ready, Shalem carefully began moving down the street, making sure that his partner of the moment was keeping up.
âAnything at our six?â Shalem asked, his attention still focused forward. He pushed aside a few tossed aside beams, not noticing the white-haired woman behind him just passing through piles of rubble that he had to walk around. âI donât want any trouble to be caused because we arenât communicating with each other here.â

She blinked, turning to the voice that interrupted her thoughts. Shigure looked over the man; her instincts warned her immediately this man was dangerous. Though for the moment, it seemed he was harmless. And she supposed no one ever went out as far as she did. âYes I was, actually. Iâm afraid the ocean goes out as far as I know. I havenât seen any other significant landmasses, although I will admit I can only stay afloat for half an hour, so I canât go that far, even if I go flat out.â
She tilted her head as she ran some quick calculations. âBecause of my current limitations, I can go only as far as say ⌠29, 30 kilometers? Or about 18 miles, give or take. But because I need to come back that cuts my maximum range, at top speed mind you, to 14 kilometers, or about 9 miles.â She paused as she checked her math. âYeah, that seems about right. But even if I didnât have a limitation, I somehow donât think weâd be able to just leave the island like that,â she said, flashing a sad smile. âMy name is Shigure, by the way. Second ship of the Shiratsuyu-class of destroyers.â
âAh, a shame.â Shalem grumbled a bit as he glanced out to the ocean. âAnd here I was hoping I could hop onto a boat and escape from this place. But then again, those in charge of this city probably wouldnât want any of that happening. Real, real unfortunate.â
Looking back at the young girl, Shalem extended a hand out. âWell Miss Sigure, it is a pleasure to meet you. And it is rather unfortunate that there seems to be nothing out there. I wonder if there is anything under the ocean at all. Perhaps something other than nothing.â It was only then the assassin realized what Shigure had fully said. â... Destroyer? What, you mean like those naval ships?â

âi see. so it would be beneficial for me to make it myself.â   sheâd have to do a few tests before actually putting it on the menu at the apartment. a hand curled underneath her chin in thought, sheâs never attempted making hummus before so this would be quite a new experience. having noticed the other man collect milk, the maid sought out to do the same, a quick glance at the expire date before placing it in her own basket.   âsince you seem to be quite an expert on hummus, might i trouble you to be my taste tester? i would ask another, however ⌠sheâs not one to eat proper meals.â
âYes, though I hardly imagine you can get much of the ingredients as fresh as possible in a city like this. Unless somehow in someway theyâre able to bring in such things as if they came straight from a farm.â Though knowing the kind of stuff going on in this city, he wouldnât be too surprised if that was the case. âThough, youâre asking me to do some charity? âhummus âŚâ   now that was a thought. a little different from what she normally bought and gave others to eat but not something unheard of. she does know that some of her fellow navy ships experimented on other meals. she, in particular, just liked her normal day and tended to stick to it.
âi do believe that my roommates wouldnât mind it. are there any particular ones that young ones would like?â
âParticular ones? Hardly... barely anything here seems to be worthwhile hummus. All Iâve had here are what I can consider subpar. Then again, I have quite the refined palate. Perhaps any would do fine for those unfamiliar with it.â
Setting the carton of milk he had into his basket, Shalem eyed what else was on the tray. âI much prefer fresh hummus, to be honest. Store bought ones always tasted... off.â

The assassin stopped next to the young woman eyeing the counters of food. Although he was more fond of visiting the various restaurants for his meals, even he had to admit there was time which he had to eat at home. Picking up a small carton of milk, he scanned the cover it for a moment.

â§*:シďž| THE otherâs words are pieced together and DISSECTED in his mind.
HEâS considered it a remarkable blessing that heâs essentially unarmed; having weapons in addition to navigating this hellscape makes for a HORRIBLE combination. Yet, he can focus on a singularity: the matter of his offending a stranger with a mere comment.
PERHAPS a bit strained he is when he speaks once more - for he greatly dislikes when his intelligence comes into question - and with all of his patience mustered in these SIMPLE words.
âNO offence is meant,â he remarks, waving off the otherâs terse words like someone warding off a fly. âI did not mean that you are someone I know or an exact replica of them. We are all UNIQUE beings, yes? Ah, consider it a bit of a compliment: you are simply quite put together despite the current situation.â
âHmph, none taken then,â Shalem replies, still a bit unsure of the other. âAnd yes, why would I not be collected under the current state weâre in. Would acting any other way do us better?â
There was only the slightest hint of hostility in his voice, but only due to the earlier comments. More of an annoyance than anything really terrible. But it was an annoyance that Shalem did not enjoy.
âWhat about you? It is quite a dangerous situation right now. Itâs not easy to keep one self held together in the face of danger.â
