OKAY SO. MY FIRST INSTINCT WAS TO GET SARA A SNAKE AS A PET BECAUSE OF A LEGEND WHERE THE GOD THAT OWNS THE TEMPLE THE PYTHIA WERE FROM, APOLLO, HE GOT THE TEMPLE FROM GAIA BY KILLING THE GUARDIAN, A SNAKE...
BUT I THOUGHT OF IT MORE. AND AS MUCH AT I ADORE SNAKE AESTHETICS,,,,, SARA HAVING A HUGE PHOBIA OF SNAKES. SURE THEY WERE POSSIBLY ORIGINALLY GAIA’S ORACLES, BUT AFTER WARDS THEY WORSHIPPED APOLLO AND GOT THEIR PROPHECIES FROM APOLLO, WHO KILLED THE SNAKE.

his great grandpa still realizing spud has a lot of talen t in magic. so he really tries to teach him. but his alzheimers makes him forget about spud’s talent and sometimes about spud completely. so thats why all he’s been able to really teach spud was the magic incarnation that he sometimes knew was important and couldn’t remember why.
also: alternatively. the magic knowledge ending at his great grandpa because he wasn’t very strong in the first place and wasn’t really a teacher. so spud’s grandparents either never learned/wasnt magically inclined. his father being completely uninterested in the first place, regardless of being able to do magic or not.
and by the time a stronger magican, spud, came in… his great grandpa started developing alzheimers.
