“No?” Kasumi batted her eyes, surprised. “But that’s the best way to deal with rumors, in my experience.” She lifted her hands, one of them waving in front of her face. “People can say bad things, but if you swat them away, then you can make sure they don’t hit you, like this. It’s a trick my counselor taught me.”
“From my experience, if you debunk them with proof of your own side... Well, that just makes them less powerful.” She thought on it for a moment, brushing her hands over her skirt. “I don’t doubt your counselor’s tricks, but they just don’t really work for me. Sorry.”
But she realized she missed a crucial part. Here they were, talking, and yet... She hadn’t introduced herself. But her real name couldn’t be used. It would be too obvious, then, that she was a foreigner.
“Before I forget, my name’s Yukine Hibiki. Nice to meet you.”

“It really is.” Xion started, lifting her head away from the sea salt treat she had been only barely enjoying. It was already dripping onto her hand, but she didn’t seem to care. Her focus was far more intent on the other girl.
“It…makes you want to enjoy this life. It makes me want to, anyway, even if I might not know how to.”
“It does, indeed.” She popped a handful of candy into her mouth, taking a moment to chew and swallow before looking over to the other. “Enjoying life takes time. Like, that ice pop that’s melting onto your hand? That’s a part of it. Take life one step at a time, and never regret the friends you’ve made or the bonds you’ve shared.”
For a moment, she paused before laughing at how ridiculous she sounded. Honestly! She sounded like a mother giving advice, and she wasn’t even that old!
“Haha, listen to me! Going on like that.” She smiled warmly. “Life is like... a river. You go with the flow of how things are, and maybe someday come out on the other side with lots of stories to share and experiences that only you were able to have! You can fight the current, too, if that helps you... Ah, bad euphanisms.”
Melanie held out the box of candy to the other as an offer to give her some. “Want some?”

“Perhaps,” Aqua offered out with a curt nod. “However, we can’t let out ties be overrun by the Darkness. We fight, but we keep the people we cherish in our heart to amplify our light.”
Truthfully, the Keyblade Master didn’t know the girl very well. “Is there someone like that for you? Do you have someone your goal leads your heart to?”
“No, no we can’t!” The black-haired girl said with a grin. But her look turned somber for a bit. The light was amplified by the people that they cherish... but hers was so far away. Did it count when they were just... not people within any of the related worlds?
“I’d, unfortunately, have to say no.” It was difficult to explain. She didn’t have ties to anyone in any of the worlds besides the ones she’d visited before ending up here. So they technically didn’t count. “I’ll be fine, if you’re worried.”
She glanced over to the blue-haired Master. “If... we’re working together, could I have the name of the one I’m fighting alongside? My name is Melanie Sinclair.”

“Perhaps, but it is that truth that lays before us.” After all, her kinsmen has decided to partake of the dragon’s blood and transform themselves from human to that irreversible dragonic state. “If we are to have peace between the dragons and the humans, it cannot be this way. Yet I fear…some of my men may have stopped listening to me and are swayed by Nidhogg instead.”
Well, she wasn’t wrong there. Peace between dragons and humans would be a long way off, especially with how Nidhogg continued his feud for a thousand years. Not that she blamed him, but she wouldn’t side with him. Live and let live. “Some might have, but that’s their own choice. Remember, Lady Iceheart, we’re doing this to stop the Thousand Year War. We may lose some people due to Nidhogg, but we still have many who believe in your cause.”
She stretched, before opening her bag. “I brought some rations with me this time. You hungry?”

@oraclesbow ♡ ‘d for a lyric starter with a test muse!
“Just imagine you’re out there, swatting lies in the making.”
"That’s one way to put it! ...Uh, though I’m not too sure it’s a hundred percent accurate.”

“Why must you let go, the life you were bestowed? This I fear I’ll never know.”
“Sometimes you just have to... There’s no rhyme or reason to it, unfortunately. It’s... scary, though, I can tell you that.”

Quick Verse update! All verses take place after the fic that I’m writing for her. These are just short summaries. All under the cut!
[ verse ] - summoned by hydaelyn; A verse within the FFXIV timeline. Summoned to Hydaelyn by, well, Hydaelyn, Melanie has found herself in Eorzea. Her classes are Rogue, Red Mage, Black Mage, Dancer, Paladin, Monk and Dragoon. She is post-Shadowbringers, having assisted in the defeat of [ REDACTED ].
[ verse ] - displaced from home again; A verse taking place within the Kingdom Hearts timeline where Melanie has, yet again, found herself outside of the world she belonged in for unknown reasons. She is able to cross to different worlds with a Gummi Ship, but currently does not have one.
[ verse ] - the unknown crusader of justice; A verse taking place in Persona 5/Royal. Going under the alias of Yukine Hibiki (Hibiki Yukine if written normally), she masquerades as a high school student to figure out if there’s a way back home. Frequently skips school until the Phantom Thieves start appearing and is currently trying to find a way to assist them while thinking they’re the key to find her way back.

maskedmuses:
Thinking on repairing the gear was difficult—not for the cost, Koya had plenty of gil to spare for such expenses, but that anyone else to lay hands on the armor he had always repaired for her made her feel as if she was slapping him in the face. Yet, the way it was now, that was no less insulting upon him for sure, and reluctantly, the woman nodded. “Yeah, may as well ask them; I think I saw a mender the last time I was in the Jeweled Crozier.”
Though it was obvious both of them knew that they would likely be turned away; not that Koya would admit that openly before the other.
But a genuine smile managed across the violet haired woman’s face as she reached out, her fingerless black gloves gripping with the other’s hand. “I know a great place! It might look a little rundown when we get there, but their food is top notch.” The Forgotten Knight was typically only thought of as an Inn, but the cook they had was on par with those within the Holy See.
“Oh, uh, me?” Koya bit at her tongue, remembering how Alphinaud insisted they keep a low profile. As if anything that had been done at all with them inside the walls of Ishgard could be considered covert. “I’m a ward of House Fortemps. I’m, uhh…” Trying to remember the story, she shook her head. “I’m visitin’ for a while to uh, give my respects to the Holy See. Yeah.” Nodding, as if she had completely been believable.
Releasing the other’s hand, Koya gestured back to the structures of the city. “We can take my Chocobo back in, if you want a lift. Any monsters that get in our way, I’ll smash ‘em up for you.” A lifted arm to show off her muscle only allowed a small creak from her armor. “Uh, plus it’ll be faster.”
The Jeweled Crozier. She’d been there a few times with one of the servants of House Lucin, to get acquainted with the place. So there was a slight chance she’d be turned away, but not too big of a chance. Regardless, the girl smiled warmly as she shook Koya’s hand, and glanced to the distance where she knew Ishgard would stand.
“I’m going to eat so much when we get there. I’m kind of really hungry.” Melanie said, letting her hand slip from Koya’s and fall back to her side. Listening to the other’s explanation, she had heard from Corellion that there’d been some new arrivals outside of their usual group. It’d been lucky for her and the others that their friend was from Ishgard, but...
Well, that explanation was a bit of a lackluster one, if Melanie could say so herself. To pay respects to the Holy See... “Kay. If you were just paying respects to the Holy See, you wouldn’t need to be a Ward of House Fortemps. But I won’t ask the real reason as to why you’re here.” As if immediately dropping the subject, she thought of it as she heard the creak of the armour. “If anything gets in the way, I can deal with it. You’d probably get yourself more injured than you should by fighting something with your armour in that state. Besides-” Melanie took off the overlarge coat she was wearing and held it out for the other.
“You look really cold. Wear this. We’ll take your chocobo back to Ishgard, and then I’ll work with your armour.”

Just a quick update! Melanie’s surname has been changed. Why? “Summers” just doesn’t vibe with me anymore as a last name for her.

“Nah, why would I do that?” Koya was already turning on her heel, looking for the herd she had seen before. “I feel in tip top shape and I’m ready to–” But her voice halted at the sound of a crack, her breast plate loosening on her as it shifted with its weight. Pale optics flickered down and the passion she had vanished in an instant, replaced by a fleeting grimace, before a breath out and a forced smile up towards the stranger.
“Well, maybe you have a point.” She laughed, lifting her arms up behind her head, hip cocking a little as she whirled back to face the woman again. “I haven’t repaired my armor in a while—I don’t know how if I’m honest with you—so I guess I ought to make it all nice and shiny before taking them on again.” As she stood, a small rumble in her stomach was audible enough to draw even a passerby’s attention.
“Uh, I guess some food too…Say, what’s your name? My name is Koya!”
“Because it’d be easier?” As the other went to face the heard, there was a crack and Melanie nearly facepalmed. At this point, she’d need to get new armour. There wouldn’t be anything that could save it now except a prayer-- and those were usually useless. A sigh passed her lips as she watched the purple-haired girl turn back to her, and noted the forced smile.
She wouldn’t vocalize that, though. That’d be like spelling doom. This girl was too headstrong, and probably wouldn’t accept it. Forest green irises adjusted their view, looking the girl over just a bit. The armour was far from in disrepair, it was in shambles and needed replacements... Dear Twelve, that’s only held up by threads and prayer! --Or so the Eorzeans would say. “Perhaps Ishgard would have some repair services available. If not, I could potentially take a crack at it.”
An offer, but she’d have to do an exact replica of the armour that the other wore to fulfil it. It seemed to be made of Darksteel... Perhaps Kanade had some with her. She’d have to ask once she got back to the Jeweled Crozier.
“That sounds good. I’ve been wanting to try Ishgardian cuisine. Oh, I’m Melanie. It’s nice to meet you, Koya.”
She held out a hand, which was covered in a black glove. “I’ve been visiting Ishgard for the past couple weeks to see a few good friends of mine. I’m a guest of House Lucin. How about you?”
#maskedmuses#[ verse ] - summoned by hydaelyn#[ so you don't get confused: kanade is Melanie's retainer and in an RP continuity she's a friend of someone with the last name of Lucin that#lives in ishgard and is good with machines ]#[ if anything i can take that out if it's too much. ]

maskedmuses:
Pain shot through her body as Koya lay crumpled on the ground, her armor cracked severely from overuse. Typically, it was a particular Miqo’te that fixed it for her, but those days had long passed and care for her equipment had waned. It was by sheer luck that the woman passed her by, one eye opening to look up at her before she weakly took the bobble and shoved it into her mouth.
It was sweet, and as soon as it hit her tongue, a rush of revitalizing energy surged through her, causing the woman to nearly pop up with renewed vigor. “Whoa! You weren’t kiddin’ there!” Her wounds healed, but her armor still in shambles, her attention fell upon the stranger. “Thanks! That’s a pretty neat thing you got there. Wish I had a few more so I could take on that gaggle of Goobbues!”
“It’s no problem, really.” She stood after that, and stretched a little. She looked a little worn down and needed a bit of rest, or so Melanie thought. Though the Gel had revitalized her enough, her armour was in disrepair and… she hadn’t been taking care of herself much. The Goobbues would have to wait, then.
“Well, I think you’d better leave them be for now or else you’ll end up on the ground again.” It would be better for them to get out of here first, get the armour repaired and then come back to take on the gaggle of Goobbues. “We can come back later when you’re not so banged up and worn out.”
#maskedmuses#[ verse ] - summoned by hydaelyn#[ yeah that's a good timeframe! :D ]#[ also thanks for telling me i'm too used to not using sideblogs orz ]
