Did you know that lumps and sores in your mouth that you ignore could be the symptoms of early-onset
Yes, that’s true. Studies have shown that any altercation in the mucosa (a special type of skin in the mouth that is generally smooth and coral pinkin color) could be a warning sign for a pathological process which in most serious cases could be oral cancer. Not just the mouth, but these altercations can also manifest on lips, cheeks, palate, and gum tissue around the teeth, tongue, face, and/or neck. The Center for Oral Surgery and Dental Implants recommends conducting a self-oral examination monthly and contacting your dentist at the earliest in case of any discrepancies.

Dental bone grafts are putting smiles on faces across the globe.
Missing teeth are not just unaesthetically pleasing, but can also cause atrophy or resorb of the jaw bone if left without finding a solution. After a certain point in time, this condition renders the jaw bone useless for the positioning of new dental implants, and can cause long term shifting of the remaining teeth, as well as possible changes to the facial structure. Many candidates become ineligible to receive much-needed dental implants due to this.

Bone grafting provides the perfect solution to this problem. In addition to giving patients an opportunity to receive dental implants, bone grafting goes a long way in restoring functionality and aesthetic appearance.

Know more about Facial Trauma Treatment here
In the event of certain facial traumas, it’s vital to see an oral and maxillofacial surgeon as soon as possible. Our doctors are specially trained to manage and treat facial injuries, which can create emotional trauma in addition to physical pain.In this post, we’ll cover the types and causes of trauma that often require treatment by a maxillofacial specialist and discuss what you should look for in an oral surgeon.
Common causes of facial trauma
Motor vehicle accidents and sports are two of the most common causes of facial trauma, but any type of accidental fall can lead to damage. Scenarios that likely will require the specialized training of an oral surgeon include:
Knocked out teeth
Severe facial lacerations
Lacerations inside the mouth
Fractures of the jaw, cheek, nose or eye socket
Typical treatments
Teeth that are knocked out should be placed in salt water or milk to increase the likelihood that they can be replanted successfully. Often, damaged teeth will be bonded together for stabilization during healing. Teeth that have been knocked out and do not survive, or teeth that are fractured beyond repair, are typically replaced with dental implants. Root canal therapy and other restorative dental procedures may be needed after the initial healing following emergency care.Soft tissue injuries, such as deep cuts or tears, are repaired by suturing. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained to treat soft tissue injuries and to look for related problems that might be present, such as injuries to facial nerves, salivary glands and salivary ducts.
Oral surgeons also treat breaks in the nose, cheekbones and upper or lower jaw. Small hairline fractures may be left to heal on their own. Significant fractures will likely require the bone to be reset to its natural position for healing. In those cases, surgery may be needed along with titanium plates, screws or wires to hold the bone in place. It’s not always easy to tell when a break has occurred. If you experience a facial injury with one or more of the following symptoms, it’s best to see a maxillofacial surgeon.
Excessive swelling and pain
Teeth that are not touching in the normal bite
Changes in facial sensation in response to hot, cold and touch
Loss of facial mobility
Facial X-rays will be taken to look for any facial fractures, and to determine their exact location and severity.

How to Know all About the All-on-Four Treatment Concept?
Dentures have long been the go-to solution for multiple missing teeth. But they require a lot of care and can be painful, lead to bone loss, and make everyday activities like eating, speaking and smiling difficult.
Tumblr media
Implant-supported replacement teeth (crowns built on artificial roots made of titanium) solve the problems that come with dentures. However, many people haven’t chosen this option because, until relatively recently, replacing a full arch of teeth with implants has been a long, costly process requiring several dental visits and procedures.
An Affordable, Life-Changing Solution
Today, there’s an affordable, long-term solution for multiple missing or problem teeth: All-on-4 treatment. It’s more comfortable and convenient than dentures, and enables you to eat, speak and smile more naturally.
All-on-4 is a minimally invasive, often one-day procedure. The oral surgeon will gently pull teeth as needed, remove infected or diseased tissues, and place four implants. Using just four implants per arch (instead of one per tooth) reduces overall treatment time and cost.
Because the implants in All-on-4 treatment are angled into the jaw, they even work in patients who don’t have enough bone for traditional implants.
Most patients walk out the door with a temporary set of false teeth attached to the implants. After a short healing period, this set will be replaced with the final arch that has custom artificial teeth.

What is the downtime after the procedure?
The procedure itself is straight forward and can be done in our office with a variety of anesthesia options. For a straight forward implant surgery, many patients can resume work and activities later in the day. Heavy exercising and sports will need a bit of downtime and you will need a soft diet for a few weeks afterward.
