things to do alone
read that novel you’ve always wanted to start reading
watch a movie, and i don’t mean watch a movie on netflix, actually go to the cinema on your own. thank me later
start a blog
take a walk
browse bookstores, even if you’re not going to buy anything (if you’ll be able to resist the temptation of buying a book). just surround yourself with literature
brew yourself some tea or coffee, whichever you prefer
listen to classical music and absorb it, don’t do anything else, just sit there and listen to it
pick up a magazine, ditch online magazines for a while, go for the print
go to a museum
explore cooking or baking
watch the sunset
take a long, warm bath

I was just thinking how grateful I am to people who make all these supportive posts on their blogs talking about self-love, self-care, struggles and failures. The thing is, I saw a lot of netizens say that it’s pointless and stupid. As long as those posts are not personalized and don’t solve their problems, they consider such bloggers to be mere hypocrites. Does it make sense though? There are two important things that those guys are probably missing out.
First: posts on the Internet are not supposed to solve your problems. It’s you and only you who can overcome that fear, get that job, or pass that exam. But now and then you might be in need of support because you’re too overwhelmed, disappointed, or out of energy. Sometimes just a few soothing words can help you to calm down and keep on pursuing your goal.
Second: a non-personalized message can have just as strong influence on people as a personalized one. If it weren’t for this, art just wouldn’t exist. If you have a friend who stays by your side in good times and bad – you’re a lucky one. But there are people for whom these blogs are the only source of encouragement and comfort. If it doesn’t work for you, just disregard it and go your way.
Let the world be a tad more positive place.

At the very beginning of 2020 I made a resolution to take TOPIK, which is a Korean language test, in November and get the 3rd level. I can see lots of struggles coming, but I still have a firm belief that my passion for Korean cannot be outdone :D
So far I’ve been going through TOPIK I sample tests, and although the results weren’t stunning, they were constantly going up. That is, my score went from 142/200 to 176/200 in two weeks -  I think it’s a fairly nice progress! Hopefully, I’ll keep up the pace…
It took me as a surprise that TOPIK I has neither writing, nor speaking tasks. Even TOPIK II, which is an intermediate/advanced level exam, misses the speaking part. Yet as an overly shy language student I cannot but feel relieved :’D There are lots of other exams out there to get you overwhelmed and mumbling like a baby, right?
So, in short, I have a goal and I’m going to do my best to accomplish it! ^^ Fighting!
