AV BREAKDOWN - A PROCESS NEVER TO SKIP
Many companies these days opt for videos as they have become an essential tool for marketing. They want to engage their target audiences with great visuals that tell the story of their brand with exceptional audio.
To make a good film for a brand, writing just the script isn’t enough. One must be able to convey the kind of visuals that will accompany the dialogue or the voiceover. Obviously, the viewers view both the streams simultaneously, but making a detailed distinction between what we hear and what we see, makes it easier for the makers to plan out the shots.
That’s where the audio visual breakdown comes in!
The idea is simple. The script writer divides the page into two columns, Audio and Visual and they write the visuals that accompany the audio that they think would look good.
This format isn’t necessary, but advisable. It helps the scriptwriter to convey their thoughts on the visuals, pace, and tone to the Director. This format of writing is important in scriptwriting more than any other forms of writing, because it breaks down the script into two halves, making it easier for everyone to be on the same page, quite literally!
Keeping in mind that videos are primarily a visual medium, and it is a great format to tell stories, it is important to convey as much information about the visuals as possible to the client and the team to avoid any miscommunication.
Once the script is green-lit, the scriptwriter wants to make sure that everyone says yes to the same script. Everyone from the client to the director should be visualizing the script as it is originally intended. It all comes down to the fact that if you are not specific, it will be extremely easy for the entire crew to go off-course.
AV Breakdowns are a quick cheat sheet to making a film. It is the stage in the pre-production where the film comes together for everyone. Now that the pre-production is solid, the team can concentrate on translating this breakdown to screen.
This pre-production stage of work is absolutely worth spending time on and getting a buy-in from internal and external stakeholders of the video.

VOICE OVER AND ITS ROLE IN VIDEOS
Most companies use videos as an advertising/marketing tool. They are a great way to appeal to and attract your audience. Video production companies always suggest including a voice-over, as it adds value to a video.
A Voice-over is the translation of the narrative script recorded by voice artists. An appropriate voice must be selected depending on the type of video and the target audience.
There are many voice-over categories, like:
Commercial voice-overs: These are voices overs for radio, podcast ads, television, and online videos. They generally centre around the character or the spokesperson who is advertising a service/product to the audience.
Narration voice-overs: These are for technical videos like online tutorials, explainer videos, documentaries, e-learning videos and business training materials. Here, the narrator takes the audience through a story via animation or filmed footage.
IVR: This voice-over is popular in the technical industry, where voice-based systems such as digital assistants (Alexa, Siri, GPS systems), in-app voice narrations, PA systems (used at the airport) etc. are used for communication.
Animation and gaming: Voice-overs used here bring characters and stories to life.
Promos and trailers: Voice-overs are used to advertise upcoming movies, television shows.
A voice-over in your video provides many benefits like:
Gives credibility to your video: Your audience tends to develop a sense of trust in what they hear and anticipate it when they see any audiovisual piece.
Humanises your brand: You may want to give your brand an approachable, friendly element, or a professional and reliable quality. A good voice-over can make your audience feel spoken to and deliver the message to them very well.
Increases conversions: Most videos are created for a commercial purpose like selling products and services, training etc. Adding a voice-over to your video can help increase conversions as audiences are more likely convinced to buy a product that contains explanatory information.
Improves customer service experience: If your business uses videos to support and communicate with customers, adding a voice-over in multiple languages will help you reach a wider audience.
Brings your story to life: You are actually telling a story every time you create a video or an animation. For this story to attract your audience, you need a voice-over with a perfect tone, pitch, and inflexions.
Persuades to take necessary action: A voice-over not only creates trust, but also encourages a viewer to take the next action. Voice-overs can guide the audience to take the next step like signing up for a free trial, subscribing to a channel or buying the product/service.
Acts as a filler: Sometimes you may choose for some aspects of your story to be narrated in a voice-over rather than through visuals. It also allows you to explain details that may be harder to express visually.
A voice-over is an asset and can do wonders to your video. From Digital Ad Film making agencies to Animated Video production agencies, all provide great voice-over services to complement your video. 7 MOST EFFECTIVE VIDEO STYLES7 MOST EFFECTIVE VIDEO STYLES
For brand managers or entrepreneurs who are diving into video marketing, it’s crucial to know the different styles of video and when you should use them. Why? There are good reasons why you wouldn’t eat mithai for breakfast, or drink a hot cup of coffee to quench your thirst. It doesn’t mean you will stop being a huge coffee geek, or that you can’t appreciate a nice, juicy gulab jamun when appropriate. It just means that different foods fulfill different appetites. The same thing happens with your video content! If you’re using the wrong video style to convey your message, you could get out of tune with your audience.
Live action video is a recording of people & places. It’s about real people and real locations, rather than creating things digitally. Live action videos can showcase a charismatic spokesperson or highlight the people in your office or your office or factory itself. These videos can be funny or informative, entertaining or educational.
It is one of the most popular and broadly implemented explainer video type in use today. Both characters and scenes are created in a two-dimensional space, using perspective to give the illusion of depth. This style is great for depicting something that can’t be found in the real world. The 2D animation video style is highly versatile, allowing for insane customisation that, when done right, leads to an emotion-evoking piece that can appeal directly to its intended audience.

BENEFITS OF USING STOCK FOOTAGE IN VIDEOS
Stock footage are video clips that are professionally shot to be used in social media videos and reels, corporate videos, explainer videos, interviews etc. They are available in a wide range of categories like business, lifestyle, outdoors and travel and can be royalty-free or paid for.
There are many benefits of using stock footage:
Effective storytelling: Stock footage helps to tell your story in a better and more effective way. Stock footage can act as great filler for your video and helps the story flow, correlating with the mood and pace of your narrative. For example, to show a variety of cuisines and dishes, you can use a variety of stock footage, to show exercise benefits you can use footage showing people working out at the gym.
Save Time: Stock footage is a great time saver vis-à-vis live shooting in terms of location set-up, talent search etc. By acquiring high-quality and appropriate stock footage for your video, you can save a lot of time and effort.
Budget Friendly: Stock footage is way more cost effective than actual shooting. Also, there is no compromise in terms of quality and resolution.
Versatile: Stock videos can be used in various types of videos and can create a great impact.
Easily Available: Stock footage is easily available as a last minute pick up shot, you don't need to worry about setting up an entire day of shooting.
High Quality Resolution: A wide array of film equipment is used to produce content with full HD resolution or 4k footage. High-quality stock footage gives an overall professional look to your video.
Footage For The Difficult Shot: For example, you may need an aerial view shot of the mountains but you may face some challenges of getting it shot? Stock footage is a savior here! It is great for achieving difficult, expensive and challenging shots. Moreover, you will have a variety to choose from!
Now that you know the benefits, never shy away from using stock footage again!

Our Corporate Video Production Workflow
Creating a successful video within deadlines is possible when you follow a process/workflow. As a corporate video production agency, we follow a process to ensure we deliver the best quality output to our clients.
The video production process involves a few stages right from conception to its distribution.
Development:
This is the first stage where we plan and conceptualize a script. After approval of the script, we work on the audio-visual breakdown and the storyboard. We set the budget and begin taking auditions and search for appropriate locations.
Pre-production:
During the pre-production stage, we finalise the cast, shoot date and locations. We line up crew members, work on the sets and costumes. This is a time consuming stage but ensures that everything is in place to avoid chaos and confusion during the next stage.
Production:
Here, we begin the main work keeping in mind the schedule and budget. Our director ensures there is clear communication between the cast and crew and everything goes as planned.
Post-production:
The first draft of the video is drafted after adding sound effects, visual effects, supers etc. The editor begins adding/adjusting footage as per the feedback from the client.
Distribution:
This is the last stage of the production process. The video then goes out either on social media platforms, YouTube, the company website etc.
We stringently follow the above steps to keep our video project on track, in terms of quality, deadlines and budget.

PROS AND CONS OF 2D ANIMATIONS
2D vector-based animation is the most common style of animation that represents graphics that are created in 2-dimension. They are most popular for use in branding and marketing due to the scalability and ease of distribution. If created well, they are one of the most captivating videos.
Here are some advantages and disadvantages of 2D animation videos.
Advantages:
Quick to Produce: There are many new softwares that aid in faster production of 2D videos.
Reasonable Cost: 2D animation is far more reasonable than 3D, live shoot or purchasing stock footage to create a video.
Customisable: This is one of the most compelling benefits of 2D animation. You can customize the entire video just to your liking, right from colours, elements to be used, etc.
Easy to Fix: In case of any errors/changes and edits, it is easier to rectify 2D animations.
Tried and Tested: This animation style has been around for years and most vouch for it.
Less Complex: Creating a 2D animation video is far less complex than working on 3D animation or live shoots.
Disadvantages:
Less Dynamic: 2D animations can be less dynamic as compared to 3D. If you want to show a 360-degree view of an element, it is best done in 3D.
May Have Higher Cost: When the video length is long and too many elements are to be animated, there could be an additional cost incurred.
Expertise: 2D animation videos require someone who can draw and sketch well followed by one who creates great graphics.
Lacks Uniqueness: Most animation videos have some graphic styles that are common in many videos.
Having evaluated the pros and cons of 2D animation videos, we would still suggest they are a good bet and work wonders if well directed. They are great for story telling, social media posts, explainer videos etc.

IMPORTANCE OF PRODUCTION DESIGN
Production design is an integral part of the video-making process. As videos are an audio-visual medium, it is obvious that the audience will remember what they see in the video. The filmmakers must pay equal attention to making the visuals beautiful with the help of proper set design, props, costumes, etc. rather than just focusing on the cameras, lenses and lights.
A well-thought-out narrative and an excellent script aren’t enough to make a video. A video becomes memorable when it is visually striking. This is where production design comes into play.
For example, we made a series of videos for Sharekhan, where they wanted to educate their audience about different theories in economics. In the first part of the series, we created a scene where students talk about economics at the tea stall they regularly go to. For this, we created a set with a tea stall, on top of a building, against an exciting backdrop of buildings that can easily pass off as a college campus. The actors who played the characters of students were dressed in college attire and carried college bags and books, whereas the professor was dressed formally.
Production design immerses you in the world of the video:
Since production design encompasses all the visual aspects of the video, it helps the viewers immerse in the world of the video.
For example, we created a video for Symbo Insurance, showing their claims process. We created a narrative that takes place in an eyeglasses store. To create the world of the video, the set designer came up with ideas for a make-believe store. We used props like sunglasses stands, spare eyeglasses, and a cloth to clean them. We even worked on the costumes to ensure that the clothes speak volumes about the characters wearing them.
This helped us create a visually compelling video for Symbo Insurance.
Production Design makes the video more believable and credible:
Through research, references and resourcing, production design helps create a realistic and trustworthy world.
Coming back to the video we made for Sharekhan, the tea stall we built was through several references of tea stalls that we visited all our lives. Packets of biscuits, jars filled with snacks, kettles, and a stove, does that sound like a place you’d have visited at least once?
We were able to achieve this through research and picking up instances from our own lives to make it look and feel credible and realistic.
Production design works best by mixing the mood, theme and characters of the film. Along with thorough research, one can create visually pleasing videos that will be memorable for the audience.

How to plan your brand’s video strategy?
Today, brands can no longer get by using just written content and images. To interest and engage consumers, it is important to include live streaming, interactive 360 videos, augmented reality, and more
Video is the most important piece of the modern marketing mix. After all, it’s how people today are spending their time: watching online video content. 80% of businesses use video as a marketing tool and 8 in 10 people have been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video.
How to plan your brand’s video strategy?
Your video marketing strategy will ultimately be what guides you - your budget, your timelines, your production processes, your conversion metrics, and more. At Orange Videos, we suggest an easy framework to begin the thought process.
1) Begin with your video goals.
2) Identify your target audience.
3) Figure out the story you want to tell.
4) Be creative.
5) Create a timeline.
6) Maintain a realistic budget.
Let’s look at each one of these in detail.
What is the goal?
A typical marketing funnel has 5 stages and videos can be used in each of these stages. However, you need to develop your video content strategy to specifically target your customer in each of these stages. The goals you set for your video marketing should consider where your audience falls in the funnel.
Videos can be used for brand awareness at the top of the funnel, for providing use cases and social proof in the middle and to demonstrate product working at the bottom of the funnel.
Who is your target audience?
All successful marketing campaigns start with the same question – who are you targeting? It then follows what kind of content will resonate with them and where (channels) that they are most likely to be on.
The good news is that most products ad services are brought to life with an ideal buyer persona in mind. However, it makes sense to refine and answer specifics about what your video will say - the key message and the desired call to action, how will it say it - the style and the tone of the video and where will it be seen - the distribution to reach out to the audience where they are most likely to watch it, engage with it and then take action on it.
What’s your story?
Products and services are bought as much for their emotional benefits as they are for their functional benefits. Every product is a reaction to a problem and aspires to solve the problem for the user. The classic video storytelling framework works on the problem-solution structure. Here, a protagonist with a goal is the customer demographic you are targeting. The conflict is the customer’s pain point - where he / she is getting stuck and looking for a resolution. The solution is your product and the reasons to buy are the product’s features and benefits.

TYPES OF SHOTS IN LIVE SHOOT VIDEOS
Whenever we make a video, we consciously choose to select the shots that would go into it. Every video we make at Orange Videos has several shots of different magnifications. Filmmakers usually do this to lay emphasis on a particular subject, thus helping achieve the desired narrative goal.
Let’s have a look at the types of shots that we typically use in our videos.
Extreme Wide Shot:
This shot gives the audience an idea about the world where the story takes place. Whether it’s a desert, a city or outer space, the extreme wide shot is an essential tool for world-building in narrative videos.
Wide/Long Shot:
A wide shot is often referred to as a long shot, it puts the subject in context with the backdrop established in the extreme wide shot. You can see the character from head to toe and in relation to the location, they are in.
Two Shot
The two-shot, as the name suggests, is the shot with two people in it. It is usually used to show two people in conversation. This shot is often used to show romance, conflict and action. It is the best way to get the reactions of two characters in one shot.
Medium Shot
A medium shot, commonly referred to as a mid-shot, shows the character from the waist up. It’s all about the details. In this shot, one can get more detail than in a wide shot. Medium shots are usually used in dialogue scenes where the focus is on the character's body language - whether they have crossed their arms when they talk or they use a lot of hand gestures while talking about something particular.
Medium close up
Right in between the close-up and the medium shot, the medium close-up shows a character from the shoulders up. This shot is used to give more detail about the character. This shot is usually used with the character on the phone, or eating something. A Medium close-up can be used to build up to an emotional climax.
Close up
A close-up shot is used to frame a character’s face. It is a more intimate shot to look into the character’s emotions and mannerisms that the audience might miss in a medium shot. A close-up need not be just of the face. A cutaway like a foot-tapping, glasses falling, or water dripping can be shown using a close-up shot.
Extreme Close-up
Extreme close-ups frame even tighter on the face (or the subject), highlighting a specific feature. It usually frames a particular part of the face like an eye or the mouth. It is far more intimate than a normal close-up and can emphasize the emotion that the actor is conveying.
These are the shots that we use to create a shot list. These shots are used to maximise the coverage i.e. to cover a scene in as many shots as possible to make it easier for the editor to cut. This is another creative way in which videos can be made beautiful visually.

5 FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE PRICE OF YOUR VIDEO
Corporate Video Production Agency Factors that affect the cost of a video are endless. Sharing some common basic ones:
Type of video:
This is one of the most important factors that determines the cost of a video. A 3D video would cost more than a 2D animation video. A 2D video with more characters would cost less than a 2D video with lesser characters. Live action videos have different cost factors involved like location, equipment needed, etc.
Length of the video:
The calculation here is simple. A longer video will have a higher cost than a shorter one. A two-minute video literally has twice as many scenes as a one minute video.
Illustration Style:
A video using vector shapes and images takes less time and effort than a video that requires drawing and designing a character.
Voice-Over Artist:
Voice artists charge according to their versatility and experience. Also, the cost differs depending on the length of the script. A video that demands more than one voice artist, will incur a higher cost.
Timelines:
A video requirement that is urgent and requires burning the midnight oil will cost more than a video which has reasonable and fair timelines.
