Why does Merlin look so beautiful in season 5? Even more so than the previous seasons

1. Buff (seriously how dare they not let us see more of this than the short clips we get with his jacket off and sleeves rolled)

2. He always has this sort of rosy blushing cheeks on him

my headcanon for gwaine finding out about merlin’s magic is that it happens at the same time as for the rest of the knights. like there’s some Catastrophic Event that forces merlin to reveal he has powers and all of the knights are there for it. gwaine included.

the thing about gwaine, however, is that he is the first to notice merlin’s eyes glowing and therefore has 0.1 seconds more than everyone else to process this information. and when he does process what this means and the danger merlin is now in, he doubles down. no ‘oh arthur but he meant no harm :((!!’ no. gwaine uses those extra 0.1 seconds to feel betrayal and outrage and re-direct all of it at arthur.

arthur is like ‘i don’t believe it’ and gwaine is like well tough😤😤 yeah my friend is a sorcerer and so WHAT. no, and so WHAT? is that a CRIME? (‘yes, it is, gwaine’ ‘mind your business leon’) stop staring at him like that. who CARES if he is a mastermind here to end your kingdom?? (‘i’m not’ ‘oh ok cool’) i have considered doing the same myself a few times?? you gonna burn me? stab me right here and now?? come at me, COME AT ME

arthur is not even looking at him, he is having the world’s most intense silent conversation with merlin. by the time arthur decides that okay, we need to have a talk, possibly one of the hardest talks of his life, gwaine has thrown a gauntlet at arthur 3 times (he keeps picking it up and throwing it again)

mm gwaine representing strength and arthur representing courage and them both dying while merlin representing magic and surviving makes me tweak out sometimes.

your strength and your courage may die but magic will forever but rooted beneath your feet, magic simply cannot die. i like that since magic is most implied to be non-human, which it is, it gives it this level of etherealness that makes it very clear is more then humanity, that it expands wider then what humanity could ever be. while strength and courage may not just be exclusive to humanity, they're both VERY human traits but humans can lose their strength and they can lose their courage just like they can lose their lives.

I feel like as a fandom we don't talk enough about the Fisher King. No, I don't mean the actual episode - that is an entire other post in itself. I mean the actual Fisher King.

How Merlin meets an ancient being that was well cared for and loved, who has lived for centuries to the point that his actual name has been forgotten and all that is left of him is a desolate land and crumbling castle.

And that the King that Merlin meets doesn't ask for greeting or hospitality, but instead death.

Isn't it such a coincidence that a powerful person has stayed waiting for the time of the Once and Future King? Left, forgotten, aged, exhausted and begging for an end?

The Fisher King isn't a foreshadowing for Arthur's failed destiny, but Merlin's eternal doom.

The Fisher King is Merlin's later parallel.

also it's been twelve years since bbc merlin did that funny, hilarious even, thing where they showed us the devastating scene of gwain dying and then they cut the scene to both merlin and arthur suddenly feeling a lot more fatigue as if they just...as if they just lost strength...ahah...do you remember how FUNNY that was

it’s so funny to me that in a lot of fics after Tim’s parents die and he’s adopted and moved into Wayne manor, he still just… owns the mansion next door. like Drake manor is just right there, fully furnished and empty, fully inherited by Tim. and he just kinda leaves it there. probably forgets he owns it. how much do you wanna bet the others absolutely do NOT forget that next door is also owned by the family?

how much do you wanna bet that at least twice a month Bruce freaks the fuck out because Damian’s been missing for two days and eventually they track him down to find that he’d just walked over to Drake manor to avoid being told to help Alfred dust and then… couldn’t be bothered to walk back. figured that technically Drake manor could also be ‘home’ and made himself comfortable. is napping in Tim’s childhood bedroom when they find him and is completely unapologetic about eating the food in his kitchen.

how much do you wanna bet that Tim gets a call from the weekly cleaner that he totally forgot was being paid from his bank account to maintain Drake manor, only to be told by a slightly terrified cleaner that she tried to go in to mop the kitchen and found a fucking crime lord in nothing but sweatpants and his helmet, ranting to an ‘oracle’ about some kind of ‘drug drop off’ that he ‘needed off Batman’s radar’, because Jason was too tired to motorcycle all the way back to Crime Alley after a debrief but didn’t want to have to be around Bruce so he just kinda broke into Tim’s old house and has been casually chilling there for the past week while he worked on a case.

how much do you wanna bet that one time Bruce grounded Tim for two weeks and Tim was so annoyed about it that to be petty he snuck out and went back to Drake manor. Bruce was so fucking mad because Tim directly ignored his orders and he couldn’t even do anything about it because every time he brought it up he got loud claims of ‘yOU TOLD ME TO GO TO MY ROOM SO I WENT TO MY FUCKING ROOM, B, I DON’T WANNA HEAR SHIT FROM YOU-!’

how much do you wanna bet when eventually Tim can’t be bothered to deal with the insurance forms and he sells Drake manor, he mentions having to hand over his keys and instantly every single batkid starts digging around in their pockets and producing two or three keys to Drake manor because over the years they’ve all just kinda. been using it. whenever. Tim had no fucking clue they’d made keys. he’s so confused. it gets so much funnier when the next day Tim shows up to the estate agents to drop off his plastic tub of keys for the new owner and he fucking finds Jason Todd there ready to receive them.

“I make a lot of money in my line of work,” he says. “figured it was time for a summer house.”

“you hate being close to Bruce.”

“not as much as Bruce hates shoddy neighbours. i’m going to make his life hell.”

“you made me carry this box of keys for nothing.”

“yeah you can hand those back out actually, i really don’t care who goes in there.”

“I hate you.”

“Don’t be rude to your new neighbour.”

Fandom Problem #9269:

If two characters have no blood relation AND weren’t raised together, guess what? IT IS NOT INCEST TO SHIP THEM. It does not matter how “sibling coded” and “found family” you see them as, it’s not incest. You may interpret them as having a sibling relationship, but other fans don’t have to agree with you, and saying the shippers support incest or are “implying adoptive families aren’t real families” (when the characters were neither adopted nor raised together) is just dishonest. Yes, even if one or both of the characters describes the other as being like a sibling to them it doesn’t count as incest (provided they weren’t raised together) because those feelings can change. Ever heard of seeing someone in a new light?
