1) Finalised design more in line with what modelling will require, but keeping the main focus of the initial one. Feet became more like little stumps, and the head is now hollowed out at the back.
2) Isolating the segments of the character design.
First test with Orb lighting in an environment. This was done using a glow shader and a point light as the light source. I will be exploring alternatives in after effectts as it has more flexabilty without having to re-render an entire scene.
We’re happy with the brightness of the orb but have chosen to decrease the radius of the glow effect.
The film begins with an establishing shot panning across a dark, eerie forest with tall trees that cover up the sky. An orb of light appears left of centre and floats into the forest, the camera tracks the orb until it settles near the largest tree.
There is a split in the tree where a figure is barely visible. The orb floats over to the crack and the camera changes to a close up, where the orb illuminates a tree character. The tree character wakes up and emerges from the crack. He is entranced by the orb and tries to touch it, but it floats out of reach. He continues to try and grab the orb, and weakly stumbles after it, leaning on trees for support.
The camera cuts to a long shot, where the tree character follows the orb to a path lit by other orbs, and stumbles along the path into the distance. The path of orbs leads the tree character to an entrance of a cave where he initially hesitates, before following the orbs in to the cave. He enters the cave which is lit only by the orbs. There are surreal plants and giant mushrooms growing out of the rocks.
Cut to an over the shoulder angle of the tree character, who is looking at a bear character sitting cross legged and hovering in the air, surrounded by orbs. The tree character approaches, there is a point of view shot looking up at the bear.
The tree character tentatively moves closer and closer to the bear character, the bear character raises his hands, the orbs spin faster and faster, forming a sphere of light that engulfs both characters. The light gets brighter and brighter, until there is a flash of light and all that is left is a sapling left growing where the characters used to be.
