This isn’t really a problem, but last spring my school band went on a tour to Hawaii and the airline tore apart some of our cases and accidentally(?) flattened a saxophone. I get they were just checking for stuff but still, they should’ve been more careful.

It is 100% a problem. My orchestra was suppose to go to Ireland this year, and I’m kind of happy that we didn’t because I would HATE to fly with my viola. At least I wasn’t playing bass in that orchestra! -Katy

Hey again! I was wondering if other musicians have the same problems with instrument size differences between their home instruments and school instruments. My home cello, Mildred, is a 7/8 but my school cello is a full size. And my school's full sizes are all slightly different. One has a slightly narrower neck, while another is Super Wide.

Hi again!!! I love when you send us questions because they are so much fun to answer! In 7th grade I had to go and rent a bass, and I had to rent a ¾ bass because that was all they had to rent. However, I played a ½ bass because I was tiny and I almost got crushed a few times before I learned how to handle it.

I love your blog! I'm a cellist and so much of this blog is Relatable. In my school's orchestra, the cello and viola sections are best friends. It's always a barrel of laughs at the first stand too. We play truth or dare on days without a conductor 😂 it's become a tradition
