Birds o' War
Birds o' War are small, feathered creatures, though calling them birds is perhaps misleading. Commonly found in forests and wooded areas, they float slowly between the branches of trees, delicate tentacles trailing below them. Nearly silent, creatures which are not sufficiently watchful may find themselves stunned, lifted up, and consumed. Composed of a feathery, bulbous body, filled with gases which keep the Bird o' War neutrally buoyant in the air, they have no head, feet, or bones, with eyes set directly into its body and only a small pair of wings for active movement. They mostly drift passively on the breeze, though they will navigate gently to avoid running into trees. Their filament-tentacles are slim enough to not get caught on most undergrowth, but can be retracted if the environment is too snarled, or jettisoned and regrown if they should get caught. They are most common in the silent forests of Stillgrove and least common in Klando, as their bulbous core makes them easy target practice for many of the plants that live there.

Hello! I'm starting this blog as a place to post my worldbuilding, and perhaps talk with people about their worldbuilding. I'll probably update this post over time, but here are some of the basics:
What is the Order of Uncovery? It's the name of the diagetic explorer's society that is ostensibly writing the worldbuilding encyclopedia I've been working on for fun.
What kind of worldbuilding is this? It's pretty random! Both figuratively and literally — I generate three random words for each entry, then try to come up with something based on them that fits into the world I'm building. As far as inspirations, I go back and forth on whether I would ideally use this as part of a TTRPG setting someday or if it would be the setting for a fantasy story, so it has influences in both of those directions.
Comments are always welcome, and I'm also happy to take a look at any worldbuilding you would like comments on as well!
