Had a lot of fun with this one.

Next update will probably be a bit smaller. There was one sidequest I wanted to add in this update but I realized that learning HTML a bit better would serve that sidequest well (dear god I need to learn arrays) so I pushed it back to V2.5. So yeah, V2.5, coming no later than 8/8/25, will add a sidequest, hopefully update a whole bunch of backend stuff, and possibly move forward into ch2 a little? Not quite sure on that one yet.

Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys. Don't forget that we have a Discord server now, and I would be very thankful if you were to toss a few dollars my way over on Patreon (which grants you the privilege of being able to play updates a week early - and may also come with an extra goody soon...).

We finally wrap up ch1's main story tomorrow, bringing to light the Praetor's crimes, introducing a new (potentially quite important) character, and showing some of MC's business. But there's also some perhaps stranger things going on...

Dux Akize now has health! It's not utilized in this update, but in the future losing in fights can and will hurt you.

You also can see certain metrics on Akize in the sidebar, such as the strength of her army, navy, and her treasury.

Since we're nearing V2's release (tmrw at 10pm if you're a Patron wink wink nudge nudge), I gotta say, I might've had some of the most fun writing this update - specifically the council meeting once MC is back at Akize. The combination of the dynamics between the council and the politicking going on was just *chef's kiss*, loved writing that shit.

A New Community Space and a Hasty Reaction...

So, personal developments have shocked me back into action! Fucking bullshit personal developments that as it turned out may be easily solvable but the Sunk Cost Fallacy is in effect now.

Anyways, I'm getting back to work starting tomorrow, because the update is releasing publicly on the one-year anniversary of V1.

Why do I say 'releasing publicly', you may ask?

Well, the 'hasty reaction' mentioned in the title is something I was planning on doing after the release, but now it's coming before: the launch of a Patreon! Currently, there's only one tier, the 5$ 'Chicago-Style Pizza Enjoyer', which gets you one week early-access to updates - meaning if you join this tier you'll be able to play V2 on April 27th rather than May 4th.

And what's the 'new community space' half of the title referring to? Well, at noon tomorrow my time, I'll be unleashing public access to a Discord server! Currently it's mostly set-up, but I'll be making sure I've got everything a Discord server should before letting everyone in.

Unlike most of my worldbuilding stuff, it has a very simple reason: in the CK3 save where I first got the idea for the game from, I was playing as a custom Duke of Aquitaine.

One Year of the Ordinor Ultor blog...

One year ago today I made this blog and some of my first posts. The idea for OU had already been around for a little bit, percolating in my mind and a few discord channels since June of '23. But on March 12, 2024, I revealed this project to people who I didn't personally know.

And I couldn't be happier that you all enjoy it.

I'm bad at keeping a schedule and deadlines, and my coding sucks, but you guys have stuck with me through all that. You guys have sent me asks and praises and bug reports and it fills my heart with joy to know that I have readers who enjoy my work enough to ask about its background and tell me what I've done wrong. Because I'm going to be honest, I'm making this game for you guys as much as I am for myself.

The past year has been rough for me personally, but this project is still a source of joy and pride. I suck at keeping a schedule and achieving milestones, but that makes it all sweeter when I do. Every time I learn how another macro works, or figure out functions, or whatever, I am giddy.

Despite that I still fucking hate if...else statements.

Anyways, enough, navel gazing, to the point of this: thank you all so much for reading my work for this past year. Thank you to the Discord friends who I shared the original ideas with. Thank you to my bestie who interviewed me. Thank you to the people regularly sending in asks, and even any asks at all. Thank you to all my followers. Thank you to just my readers in general.

Progress Update 3/3/25

Today I worked on some code stuff rather than writing stuff. I was going to learn about arrays and such, but when I was looking through my code... it turns out that a few months back when I reset my PC I hadn't saved quite everything I thought I had (don't ask, I'm basically tech illiterate). But it's okay, now the gender function is back in StoryInit where it should be, and we have a health bar again!

Progress Update 2/17/2025

Finally finished with one of the two conversations I intend to write before moving on from the lion's share of stuff for the session of Parliament. Gotta say, I'm liking Hyder. He can be both serious and silly, so if MC agrees to converse with him, either way he can easily bounce off of them. Plus he lets me do some more worldbuilding lol.

Anyways, first in-game confirmation of MC's father and uncle being mixed-race.

Progress Update 2/13/25

Small progress today, I got sidetracked by doing some pointless research for about five minutes before I realized it doesn't matter and returned to writing. I've finished the conversation path I was on, and included several variations within, so now there's three ways for your education to affect it and one way for your heritage to do so.

If I don't update tomorrow, Happy Valentine's Day. I suppose I should try and do something special...

Progress Update 2/10/25

Why does my arm hurt? Why? I have no fucken clue but it's sore as hell and if I move it wrong I have a bad time.

Anyways, I got a bit further along in writing out the conversation I've been working on but didn't finish it. However, that's not entirely a bad thing because the reason I didn't finish it before posting this was because I got distracted by figuring out some backstory/background/worldbuilding stuff.

Anyways, I was able to add a small bit of dialogue for a Dux Akize of a certain heritage, which is fun, I can't wait to dive into those more. In any case, if I keep this section I'm making one of MC's possible uncles a bigger shithead than I was originally planning lol

Progress Update 2/5/25

Tiny work, worked a bit on the script but I didn't finish anything before getting distracted. However, I got distracted by noticing I'd fucked up on the gender function in my code, so I went and dealt with that. Not much more to say, so uh... have a fun fact?

FUN FACT: one year ago today the VTubing community blew up and shit hit the fan thanks to a popular corpo vtuber getting terminated!

Progress Update 2/3/25

Pain. Ouch. Owie.

Not much progress today, because my dog bit me right on the back of my dominant hand. Not a serious injury, but it hurts like a motherfucker... especially while typing.

I did three small snippets which are kinda shit and I mostly just did to be able to tell both myself and you guys all that I did something. But something is better than nothing, and I'm finally finished with one scene that'd been there for a while (script wise, code wise is something else).

Anyways, I'm probably gonna... wash my wound one more time before heading to bed.
