“Well at least you can say you’ve tried.” He replies with a laugh, “I’m just looking out for you, Niklaus. While I know you dealing with Tyler is no issue, it’s not something you need.”

And while I don’t need their validation to prove that I’m needed here it just seems like everyone’s just moved on,” he explained with a sigh. “I understand I’m technically a child here and I understand that I may get used to it, but it’s been a year and I’m still not used to simple modern day technologies. Cars scare me, I can’t walk by a microwave because I’m scared something will happen, someone turning on a television out of the blue scares me as well. You need to understand how little hope I have for myself now, Niklaus”

“just because we have lives, and a family, it doesn’t mean we all didn’t mourn you every day, henrik. every day we lived, we wished you’d lived to be there with us.” klaus nodded slowly. “no one expects you to be used to it yet. you came back to a completely different world, and it’s going to take a lot of time to get used to it. you might not have hope for yourself, but i and the others have hope for you. you will figure this all out, and eventually you’ll manage to thrive here.”

“i’ve seen some of the headlines and heard about some of the gossip at my job. but i just hope her and i can keep a positive connection,” she sighed, the uncertainty laced in her voice. chloe didn’t fully believe her own words. “i don’t know, i’m just scared.”

“once she figures it out, i’m sure she’ll want to do the whole ‘twin bonding’ thing” klaus replied with a smirk, shrugging his shoulders. “eh, no reason for that.”

Caroline looked up at him and beamed. “Twins,” she whispered before leaning over and kissing him. “We are having twins,” she giggled.

“i know.” he breathed, kissing her back with a smile. “we’re going to have two.” klaus spoke again, still slightly shocked.

“I don’t think that i know how to be relaxed and not panic,” she laughed. “I don’t know how to not panic. It’s kind of in my DNA. And i want to trust you when you do things but i need to know what you are doing because i like to know. And i can’t go to work because i just can’t get around to everything anymore and so i’m letting Hope take over a little and that’s killing me. So i just need… i know.” She sighed. “I’m feeling a little out of control.”
