a woman lost her husband in the attack on pahalgam. she issues a statement saying that she doesn't want people to attack indian muslims because it's not their fault. she gets slut shamed by the indian right and sanghis.

now the indian army launches a military operation (where they killed civilians) and names it operation sindoor. sindoor is a red powder hindu women apply in their hair partition to indicate that they're married.

this whole thing reeks of misogyny and hatred.

sometimes I wonder what goes on in the heads of people who honestly think BNHA had a good ending. I don’t care how happy they are about b/akudeku being friends (or more????) or whatever, the fact that the characters are actively bitching about the lack of villains to beat up (which impairs their ability to gain money + power + fame) represents a colossal failure. the horrific death of an actual child (Toga) is seen as acceptable, the murders of people whose abandonment and rejection by society led directly to their development into villains (Twice, Shigaraki) are treated as heroic, and the conditions that led to a war that devastated Japan are still in place. so while whoo hoo Deku is on the Billboard chart with Bakugou 😃😃😃 and all that jazz, their victory is ultimately hollow. what happened before will happen again, because nothing has changed in any meaningful sense.

also, the central conceit of the story is that it’s about how Midoriya becomes the greatest hero in the world. spoiler alert: by any measure of the concept “greatest hero” as set down by BNHA, he, uh ��� didn’t. from a storytelling standpoint, pretending he did is just weak.

So, the Indian Army is calling the operation of targetting civilians in a Pakistani mosque "Operation Sindoor". To those who don't know Sindoor is a red powder often worn on the base of the hairline as a visual marker of the marital status by Hindu women (idk if other cultures do that also but this is clearly the context being signified).

When women stop wearing Sindoor, it represents the status of a window. The visual representation of spilled Sindoor is supposed to represent spilled blood and a call for revenge as retaliatory justice (as best can I can analyse and convey, if anyone is more capable feel free to jump in).

If you are someone who doesn't know this context, it might be difficult to understand the level of propaganda that is being mobilized to strike a nerve with Hindu sentimentality and garner popular support for a fascist regime. This is what happens when an oppressive religion that already dictates matters such as the Family, the role of women and the role of class and racial/ethnic minorities in society melds inseparably with the state.

I remember during puberty talk in 6th grade they handed out permission slips for parents to sign if they didn’t want their kids getting sex ed and like five students ended up having to wait in the library while the rest of us learned about puberty and health stuff.

Afterwards during lunch recess almost everyone in class spent our time telling those five kids what we learned and showing them our handouts.

I'm still thinking about how fumbled the ending of ascendance of a bookworm was by the way, there could have been a really good asexual representation there

The ending while satisfying felt weird, i really don't see Ferdinand developing romantic feelings towards Myne and it was strongly implied that those were there

The last arc while still fitting the story without any plot holes that I noticed, and being well established just didn't do it for me

I really would've preferred Myne to be alone and Ferdinand get together with Heishitse or however you spell his name
