Wasn’t Cassian the one who was throwing a tantrum that Nesta didn’t want the mating bond? And when she finally agrees to a mating ceremony this is his response? Weird… very weird

just remembered cassian slept with nesta during a time he had so much power over her he dictated what food she could have. feeling sick.

Emerie winning the blood rite and becoming Carynthian is actually the most important thing to happen in the Acotar series .

Emerie an Illyrian woman that had her wings clipped by her abusive father. A father that made Emerie dig her own mothers grave after he beat her to death. And later beat Emerie so bad that he broke her back.

Emerie who originally joined training to spite her abusive father. Then continued to train for months while simultaneously running her own business. And having to deal with family members harassing her.

Emerie was kidnapped from her own bed and forced to compete in a death tournament. Yet still managed to win the entire thing. Being the first Illyrian woman to do so.

And that was just in one book! Imagine where she’ll be by the end of the series.

And what if I said Nesta did step up as a mother to her sisters ? But the only motherly figure she had to model herself after was her mother.

Nesta had never experienced a healthy maternal relationship. She just replicated what she knew. And unfortunately she never knew how loving mother acted.

It explains why Nesta showed favoritism towards Elain. When Nesta’s mother died and Nesta took her spot. And from what Nesta experienced, mothers chose favorite children

Though none of this should have been Nesta responsibility anyway. Considering their father was there the whole time. You know the man who is actually responsible for his children’s existence therefore should be the one taking care of them.

Nesta Archeron, The Queen of Swords

In mid-2023, Elly and I thought about commissioning an illustration of Nesta associated with a tarot card, as it is a theme we love, and we chose the Queen of Swords.

This arcana can show a reserved woman, often cold and distant, very frank in her remarks, but at the same time she carries within herself many repressed feelings, which will only do harm and will not help solve the problems that torment her. The card may indicate the weakening of health due to this attitude, with the psychological shock affecting even the body, to the point of needing help, thus highlighting the importance of beginning a healing process within oneself.

The main characteristics involve criticism, austerity, integrity, honesty, and demand. Although it highlights self-criticism, it is essential to balance it so that the demands and results are milder. This card shows the importance of not waiting for the soul to become overwhelmed and of freeing yourself, of feeling what ails you, crying, screaming, and allowing yourself to suffer, but also that calm, which is fundamental for clarity of ideas, will guide for the best ways to alleviate anguish.

The Queen of Swords highlights the importance of balancing emotion and reason in order to live in harmony with the world and with yourself. As if all this were not enough to associate this card with Nesta, the arts, such as music or literature, are also fundamental to the lives of those associated with this arcana.

I’m very grateful to Jaque for agreeing to do this illustration, as we couldn’t even think of anyone else who could carry out this work in the way we wanted. I feel blessed to be able to work once again with this artist so dear to me, who treats every work of art with great affection and care.
