Okay bear with me, Stede is dead now, so he needs a disguise and he thinks of Jim and he’s like "Ehy, they wore a fake beard for quite a while and it made for a pretty nice disguise. Perhaps I could give it try." So he gets one, puts it on and nobody recognizes him. He goes by the name Captain Edwards.

When he finally meets Ed, Ed doesn't recognise him straight away and it goes like:

Lol I was reading some stuff about the symbolism of pearls in different cultures and for now they're all like "a symbol of eternal love, protection, purity" and then us Italians went like "Pearls? Big Nono, pearls are oyster's shit, you wanna gift shit to your lover? BAD LUCK."
