something I haven't really seen people mention or consider in relation to riz and jawbone and the whole 'what's up with you, come in and talk with me' thing is that riz legitimately cannot do that. he cannot get better because getting better means losing all the things he gains by pushing himself to a wildly unhealthy degree- the points from his extracurriculars and grades in general, the usefulness he still feels he owes to his friends, the ability to push through grief and loss time and again. it's so incredibly sad because like- he was the one who first offered jawbone the job that got his life turned around! he tries so hard at all that he does and has a huge heart and he deserves to live a life that doesn't run him into the ground, but that life would be one where he wouldn't get the education he wants, or at the very best a life where he loses the control that he is gripping onto white-knuckled and has to contend with a lot of things he could never bear to consider at present. getting better would mean stopping, and if he stops, riz is not getting up for a long, long time, and he just cannot afford that

goddd i’m so insane about kipperlily copperkettle. she seems like she’s set up to be this tiny little hurdle for the bad kids to jump over and laugh about, but holy fuck. she’s dangerous and ruthless and capable. like, imagine. you do everything right, you plan it all out, you break your back to set all the odds in your favor, and it still doesn’t go your way. because that isn’t what the story is about. because you aren’t the type of person that people write stories about, you’re the type of person who’s eternally resigned to the background. and you hate it. you hate it so fucking much you’re willing to do unspeakable things to finally get what you think you deserve. someone sedate me

oisivy friends are really the it girls of the season for me even if they weren’t As relevant (ivy notably has 0 Ws) but like theyre everything to me??? fake guy & bitchy girl and theyre best friends in a friend group. the absolute worst teenagers you could meet i fear. AND the idea of their ties to the bad kids’ previous adventures always really got me.

i know ivy has a fallinel accent but my pet headcanon for a while has been her growing up in sylvaire but moving to solace in elementary school or so… i think she met fig once and tried to speak sylvarian & fig didn’t know a word and she felt indescribably alone. and then she finds out this solace-washed half wood elf saved her fucking homeland? With a high elf and a half high elf ??? She’d go nuts!!! why wasnt that HER???

and also in a similar vein i think adaine and oisin went to the same middle school and he sort of liked her then but they talked super sparingly. and oisin told her once that he was going to aguefort and she reacted in horror at the idea. And she seems so approachable in an old school uniform at a public adventuring school but he cant quite talk to her and then she goes and becomes the oracle and kills a dragon and then Of Course she doesnt want to? Why would she?

anyways it makes perfect sense to me that a jealous venomous girl & a yearning useless and fake guy would get absolutely fucked up by rage-inducing powers. I’m sure theyll get brought back up but for now i hope they have fun dead ❤️
