Do you watch a new anime because you think it will be good, or because its popular?

Popular anime are not what i am searching for, though sometimes they are pretty good. Take Tokyo Ghoul for example which is the most popular anime this season,i thought i should give it a try and it was sure worth my time! There are some hidden gems also out there so we should all look behind the popular animes ;)
