Ragdoll Cat
Criteria: Milk tea friendly, goes well with milk and sugar
A request right up my alley as I love milk tea. If you have a Japanese market in your area you can usually buy royal milk tea in cans. It’s called “hime koucha” (Princess black tea.)
Ragdolls are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, weighing up to 20 pounds. Ragdolls are considered dog-like due to their interest and love of people and their ability to be trained in games such as fetch.
Tumblr media
A bold tea that is easily tamed by milk and sugar is Assam black tea. While you can buy Assam from just about any brand, I grabbed this one from The Tea Spot. Assam is fairly easy to find from any tea specialty store or one of those health food markets.

A long rest...
It’s been a long time, my friends. I had to take an extended break to deal with some issues I had been struggling with offline. While I cannot say I am 100% back to normal, I feel okay. Taking things a day at a time.
Some requests in the inbox would be a good way to get things going again, I think. Note as usual that all requests may not be filled, it is up to my discretion. My full request guidelines can be read here.
Your princess may not be fully herself if this post is evident but I’d like to try and carry on. Have a wonderful bright day, my friends.

Imp
Criteria from requester: Buyable not foraged
(Side note from Celestia, don't worry! I will never suggest anything you forage for. That's for folks way more experienced in that field. Your princess cares for your safety always. <3)
Imps have a varied history mostly throughout 16th and 17th century Europe. Originally associated with goblins and fae, they later became associated with the familiars of witches and minor demons. The word and main mythos stems from Germany but variations of minor trickster/demonic entities exist in multiple cultures.
I decided to focus on the original 17th century Germanic imps. The word originates from the Old English impa meaning a young shoot. Thus I decided to focus on tea made made from the youngest leaves (white tea) with a little spice for some more demonic elements.
Tumblr media
Numi Orange Spice White Tea is a light tea with a small twist of orange peel and lemongrass for citrusy sweetness and cardamom and cinnamon for a good nip of spice. A mild spicy tea for a smaller sort of demon.

Open Question!
Hi folks! I’ve been kinda burnt out the last few days but I’ll be taking another crack at the inbox (maybe open it up again?)
In the meantime, how about an open question for all our tea-loving kin friends? No wrong answers!
Either in general or for your kintype! What’s your overall favorite tea ever?

Shapeshifter
Criteria from requester: None
Note from Celestia: Type of shapeshifter was not specified. So I'm just going with a general one and crossposting to varies kintypes that may be interested.
Shapeshifting abilites have been attributed to countless creatures across many cultures. The shapeshifting foxes of China, Japan, and Korea to the phooka of Celtic lore, Rakshasa of India, and the werewolves of medieval Germany are all varied examples of shapeshifter spanning cultures, countries, and time.
For this tea, I wanted a flavor experience that shifted as you drink. From the first taste, to the mouth, to the aftertaste, each phase is a new experience.
Tumblr media
Numi Tea's Three Roots Tumeric tea is an adventure in flavors and spice, starting with a sharp sweetness, shifting to a spice, and ending with an aftertaste of licorice. While tumeric gets most of its popularity as the main spice in curry, it's also gaining attention as an herbal supplement for inflammation.

Lucario
Criteria from requester: None
Lucario is the Aura Pokemon. Its intense training has allowed it to hone in on the auras of others, giving it the ability to predict the movement of its foes. Prideful and reclusive, these Pokemon work dilligently to become loyal and able fighters.
A calm mind (pun not intended) is the key to opening the door to reading auras. Along with looking at Lucario's canon diet, I found a tea to relax even the most spirited of Fighting types.
Tumblr media
Meditative Mind from The Tea Spot is a light, floral blend of jasmine and rose petals with a white peony base. It's a perfect blend of aromatherapy in a cup!

Note on Herbal Tea Medicinal Effects
When I recommend an herbal tea with a medicinal side effect, I do my best to research it thoroughly for any side effects and list those. I am not a medical professional and I am not licensed to diagnose, treat, or cure anything.
While I will list teas with side effects (the horsetail tea as a diuretic is one example) I will avoid teas that can have serious side effects such as kava (which can cause severe liver damage and is banned in three countries.)
Above all else, please talk to your doctors about any medical concerns you may have. Some teas are great for vitamins and antioxidants, but seek professional medical attention for treating more serious things.
Okey-dokey, now that’s said. Post coming right at you in a bit!

Sambar Deer
Criteria from requester: Something earthy
Sambar Deer are an impressive, dark brown species of deer native to southeastern Asia. While they stay close to water sources, their habitats are varied and prefer cover.
Tumblr media
These hardy deer are a perfect fit for Chinese puerh tea. Antique Pu-erh from American Tea Room comes from Yunnan, China, also home of the Sambar Deer. While the price tag may be a little high, this tea can be steeped multiple times with little effect on the flavor.

American Staffordshire Terrier
Criteria from requester: Nothing bitter
For the winner of the minor giveaway, animatronic-asshole! Whom I have to note has very similar tastes to me which makes this easy haha.
American Staffordshire Terriers are people-loving and dutiful dogs that are easy to train, but with a bit of a stubborn streak. They're workers to the core and very task-oriented. This breed rose in popularity during World War I due to an American Staffordshire Terrier named Stubby, the most decorated dog in the war.
To represent the bold spirit and tireless work of the American Staffordshire Terrier, I decided to look into black teas that are very rich and highly caffeinated.
Tumblr media
My go-to "get up and go" morning tea fits the Staffie perfectly; Tazo's aptly named Awake. It's a highly caffeinated black tea at 61+ mgs of caffeine that's bold on its own but go really nicely with a little milk (at least that's how I take it.)
Tazo used to be readily available at Starbucks since Starbucks used to own Tazo. Tazo has been replaced by Teavana at Starbucks but can still be found at the majority of grocery store chains.

Cid Highwind
Criteria from requester: No orange
Ah Cid Highwind, the man who gave us a great tea saying to live by.
Tumblr media
I really wanted to get this one done sooner just to use that image, but it took a bit of thinking about Cid's personality. A bit of bite but really a warm person on the inside. Base didn't matter all that much, it was all about the taste. Something bold and spicy that finishes sweet and warm.
Tumblr media
Teavana's Maharaja Chai Oolong is best served hot. It starts out with a kick of cinnamon and clove but with a sweet anise-like aftertaste. The sweetness can be accentuated with sugar but straight up is the full chai experience.

Simon Blackquill
Criteria from requester: No loose leaf
The Twisted Samurai is only half right. While Blackquill has the demeanor of the noble and imposing samurai, he really is a good person at heart. (As another primary of mine is Athena Cykes, I should know!)
Keeping true to his samurai persona and intimidating presence, I decided to go for a Japanese origin tea with a hint of bitterness and a whole lot of tradition. Something with a good flavor "edge." Tea fans, you should know where this is going.
Tumblr media
Yep, good ole matcha. There's multiple options from Rishi Tea to enjoy matcha. Pictured above is traditional matcha that is whisked with a bamboo whisk. Matcha is technically not loose leaf, it's a fine powder that's mixed. The whisk whips up a fine layer of foam. To counteract the bitterness associated with matcha, traditional tea ceremony matcha is served with wagashi, a small sweet typically made with sweet bean paste and sugars.
Also available is a Crystal Lite version that you can just mix in with a water bottle. It's not the same quality, but it's good for on the go.
