so we went to the textile exhibit in the National Museum the other week and lemme tell you those people knew what they were doing
so here are Muslim Mindanao and Lumad-inspired pieces (probably also a bit of Alexander McQueen and D&G aesthetic inspirations here and there)

Jason Parker’s “Room With A View” at Off The Kerb.
Opening on Friday, March 18th, 2016 at Off the Kerb Gallery in Melbourne, Australia is Jason Parker’s new solo exhibition, “Room With A View.”
Parker’s work revolves around figures which exist half in this world and half in another. For “Room With A View” Jason describes his mindset for the paintings as “I close the door behind me, lock it, then deadlock it. I’ve already put out the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign. The room is large, empty, save for a small desk in the center. I make my way to the window to take in the view, I am greeted by a familiar sight. The scene below born 27 years ago, changing daily. Untarnished views stretch to an horizon ever growing, new ones erected. I take it all in. On top of the desk sits a small stack of paper, a pencil and a modest lamp. I flick the switch on the lamp basking the desk in a warm yellow glow, the walls catch a small amount of light, walls not built with steel or concrete but with experiences, emotions and insight. I take one last look at the view, take a seat and draw.”
“Room With A View” is on display until March 31st, 2016. Continue below to see more work from the show as well as a short video of Jason at work:
