Steve’s head turned as he approached Bucky’s room and saw a guy leaving. His gaze followed the unknown brunette down the hall. Their eyes met for a brief moment, before flicking down each other’s bodies. The spark of attraction was electric.

Steve nearly ran into someone as he watched the guy disappear down a hallway. Since when did Bucky have gorgeous friends he didn’t know? Rude.

Steve leaned against Bucky’s door frame and groaned in greeting. “Please tell me I can have his number?”

Seeing Bucky, surrounded by pieces of electronics, Steve quickly realised it must’ve been Bucky’s project partner: Peter.

Bucky arched an eyebrow and snorted. “Don’t think you can handle him, pal. He had Rumlow pinin’.”

Since acquiring the throne, Bucky had begun conducting reviews of Businesses in the Kingdom. While his predecessors seemed comfortable turning a blind eye to the People—those that weren’t born with the privileges associated with living inside the Castle, that was—and their basic needs, as well as the goings on outside the castle, Bucky did not.

These were his people.

Bucky felt it was his duty and responsibility as the King to make sure that they weren’t living in squalor. That they had shelter, fresh running water, access to clean bath houses and enough food. He provided the Church with the resources to treat the sick and feed and clothe those in need.

It was the bare minimum in Bucky’s opinion, but it was still an improvement. It was a start.
