aku udah lama mau melakukan ini (bikin my own soonwoo manifesto). i saw someone doing it on dreamwidth and while i agree to a lot of points that they mentioned, i just feel like writing my additional thoughts.

i’m a sucker for friends to lovers. it’s always the trope that ties all my otps together. kalau gak friends to lovers, tuh, at least situasi di mana mereka harus punya established comfort. and in the case of soonwoo, it’s pretty much the same. established comfort at their very core.

established comfort di sini aku definisiin sebagai situasi di mana sebagian besar interaksi mereka yang kita persepsikan itu (asumsinya) afek positifnya sumbernya dari dinamika mereka yang gak bisa kita lihat (gimana coba). i mean to be honest, it’s mostly just vibe (and the crowd boos...)

(edit: after re-reading this before posting, i think most rps shipping uses this principle of the unknown to world-build or to explain things that can’t be explained. but—)

—but actually, i’ve never been more serious! there’s something about soonwoo that makes me feel so at ease—with them, love seems like it’s not a labor at all.

the thing about soonwoo is actually how everything about them feels so effortless. every cue of love you perceive from them feel like they can always be bigger, and the reason that you can’t see how big that love between them might be, is because we don’t know. we are simply outsiders looking in to years long friendship, relationship, mutual liking. it’s the way they don’t have to be joined at the hip because you know, they want to be side by side. it’s just that they have known and they have loved so much that conventional display of affection is trivial. they might want to, but they don’t have to. they’re secure. you don’t hear i love you. you see lingering taps, chin resting on a shoulder, i don’t mind being stupid with you because you love making people laugh, and favorite dish—warm and remembered. 

that is my general idea of soonwoo. meanwhile, alternate universe’s soonwoo(s) are just the manifestation of that general idea into various possibilities of how they might turn out. given different situation, given different stimuli. given different universe.

and to quote my absolute favorite line of all time, from the exceptional work of one sulfate (ao3):
