Shishio's goodbye letter to Wakamiya-chan:
I'm writing this letter before I leave you for good. After this, I'll be heading to the ending I deserve. And I can't take you there. I will do everything in my power to keep you away. Fortunately, I have no one who will be grieving over my death. That's how I've lived my life. But you can rest assured. I will be more than happy to bury the root of all evil with my own hands. I bet you're jealous. I'm sure you won't be able to match me, Wakamiya-chan. Now instead of acting to be a doctor, just go back to being a quack. S.H.

Sherlock: The Untold Stories Special
This special wraps up the drama and sets up the upcoming movie, The Hound of the Baskervilles, that should air at some point next year.
In the special, we find out what happened after Shishio and Moriya's henchman fell off the pier and disappeared, how Wakamiya - with the help of a female journalist - tried to find Shishio by digging up his old cases, so it's pretty much a clip show, true, but the added bits, esp. the scenes where Wakamiya meets up with all the people he and Shishio helped... those really tugged at my heart.
Mostly because Iwata Takanori is an amazing actor and here, he's just... Usually, Watson is portrayed as a good-natured, well, fool - a bit, let's face it - a round-bellied everyman's man. But Wakamiya is, uhm. He's kind, that's true, but he also has anger issues and unlike in other adaptations, he's the much less grounded one of the two. And I truly have to applaud the costume department here because they kept sticking Wakamiya in oversized sweaters with sweater paws which made him look even slighter - I noticed that Iwata Takanori looked very thin in this drama, especially next to Fujioka Dean's Shishio which, strangely, fit the dynamics of this Holmes and this Watson pair perfectly.
Also, the fact that this drama did not in any way or shape or form debunk that Wakamiya had feelings for Shishio? That was *chef's kiss* As in, after Shishio's "death", in his blog, Wakamiya wrote about the loss of a "loved one" and when their landlady went all, "Oh, I knew you were in that kind of a relationship!" Wakamiya didn't go all, "You got it wrong" or whatever, he just started talking about something else, so... You know.
Rating: 8/10

I'm really loving Sherlock: The Untold Stories because of "Holmes'" and "Watson's" personalities.
Sure, Homare Shishio still does have a flair for the dramatic but he's simply a little eccentric, is all. No temper tantrums, no disrespect for people in general, he's just amused by their stupidity. Wakamiya Junichi, on the other hand, strongly reminds me of a cat, hissing at everyone in the vicinity, preemptively.
These two have a rather interesting dynamic. I think it's because Dean Fujioka who plays Shishio is 8 years older than Iwata Takanori who plays Junichi? And it shows in the portrayal of their characters? Because Holmes seems much more patient and calm here whereas Watson feels like the tsundere of this drama.
Also, it's interesting that, being on ep 3, all the bad guys so far were women. In every ep the killer turned out to be a woman.
Another interesting thing? Before Shishio forcefully moved into Junichi's flat - quite a funny scene! - he made sure that there was no trace of a woman there and Inspector Eto mentioned that Shishio hated women. He doesn't disrespect them, he just... doesn't give a damn about them, is all. The whole thing is a bit... head-tilting.
Tiny things that I love? That Junichi seems to be a very good cook. And how angry he is that the inspector keeps waltzing into his flat - and eating his food. And also - his diary, the one that he dictates. I wonder if that will play some part in the future...

Sherlock: The Untold Stories, episode 10
Well, ouch. Especially after Junichi's POV at the beginning of the ep:
I wonder if I will look back someday and say that it was such a blissful moment to be controlled by this man.
Junichi thinking that was huge, considering that power harassment and power abuse could rile him up like nothing else. The fact that he enjoyed being in Shishio's power... well, my mind was sure going places in that moment 🤷🏻♀️
