The dining room. I do not think that the studio is cleaned up yet.

S4E2. What room is this? It has a fireplace, leather chairs and a couch, and a curtain instead of a door. Is it the studio? One end of the dining room?

I read your latest fanfic and loved it. It had all the nuances of Jean and Lucien and I agree with you, Jean is the one to push the lovemaking at times. She was married for heavens sake. I just loved this piece. I think I will look for my other one which shows how Lucien learned some things.

I love this bit at the end of S3E8 where he looks down and isn’t sure whether it’s ok to hold her hand.

I thought maybe Hannam would be the nemesis. He might escape and cause all sorts of problems. The above is good observation.

0225 Insomniac Observations, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Ep3.06
Two things I never really picked up before watching this episode:
1 - Munro does have a link to Alderton. When Charlie is at the station, he calls Munro at the club, and Munro tells him to look for a phone number for Major Derek Alderton, allegedly to get the dirt on Sgt Murray. What if Munro’s inexplicable desire to get Blake sacked is being directed by Alderton. Perhaps Alderton thinks that if Blake is fired/disgraced, he’ll be more likely to rejoin the service. Also, in 3.07, Munro has classified files on Blake which, as a police officer, he really has no business having access to.
2 - Is Munro redeemable? Perhaps; I found it almost OOC when Alice is being held in a choke-hold and Munro seems genuinely concerned. Or it could be just that he is presented as such a despicable character than any decent move on his part stands out.

Is this still Mt Desert? I wonder if you are at the Allen’s campground. That is where we used to stay. Beautiful.

Yes, I am actually catching up on the latest Doctor Blake Mysteries posts while I am sitting here, looking at this view. Getting too cold, so time to go into the tent. 😕

I found out that my sprained ankle was a break. Before I got out of the doctor’s office, I had a cast on my left leg and a walker. I finally got home and got to my bed. I opened the computer and found some Dr Blake pics on Facebook. I forgot what I wrote as a comment, something about my leg. And then I got the above message back.
Not only that, but I have a new phone number. A Mrs Blake had my old phone number. I get 12 phone calls a day asking for Mrs. Blake. Next time I am telling them I am Jean Blake married to Lucien and live in Australia.

George and Craig are dangling Lucien and Jean before us!!! Oh my. So wondering what will happen in Season 5. Lucien and Jean will not disappoint us but George will want to give us some angst about the two. The divorce will endanger Jean’s standing in the Church? Craig will go through a spiritual crisis and come back to the Church? What will happen to cause that? Mr Adams is very creative so who knows. He worries me though. I do not think they will allow Jean to become pregnant and that is too soap opery but having a baby or two will repair the angst Lucien has had about family and maybe help Jean realize she is a great mother.
I also thought Jean and Lucien would have grown closer to Chritopher and his family in Adelaide. Maybe Lucien and Christopher went surfing together. Jean had fun asking Lucien to paint a room and do some carpentry for Christopher;s house, having a little fun seeing Lucien use his hands that way.
This article was advertised as having cast interviews from S5, but there isn’t much to it. The quote from George Adams is at least a few months old.

Dr Blake is very attractive. Can you imagine living in the same house with him after he gets over his Season 1 acting out. His kindness ensues in Season 2 and after.

Happy birthday beloved.

BEFORE THEY GOT TO ADELAIDE
Jean was lying down on the bed in the hotel. She had gotten sick on the bus and now was recovering from a blinding and painful migraine. It might have been a plain old tension headache. Her emotions were maybe reacting to being held tightly inside. Lucien took her off the bus at the rest stop and got a hotel room for the night. Jean was too sick to notice what he was doing when he got one room for the both of them . Laying down on the bed and taking one of her pain pills that Lucien found in her purse was all she could do. She had thrown up so she was terribly embarrassed.
Jean slept for about three hours. When she awoke she looked and she was in her slip. Did she remember taking off her suit? “I undressed you a little. Your dress was soiled and I thought you would be more comfortable not in it. Remember I am a doctor and I am used to these things. We have also gone through a few cases of the flu helping each together. I hope the headache is better. I was worried.”
She groggily sat up and looked around. The “Jean frown” took over her face but then when she looked up at him she saw his eyes staring at her- exactly like the ones on his face when he entered the bus today. The eyes said: “I just found the real love of my life and she is beautiful..” Jean replied with a large smile.
Blake slowly said: I only got one room because I was afraid of you being alone. I sort of fudged the register downstairs. If someone calls you Mrs. Blake, please just smile and go along with the fib. I have done worse things in my life.”
Jean answered with a sweet “Thank you, Lucien.” It was not said in her short, abrupt talking she usually did. He went around and put his hand around her. “Thankfully, they have room service and I ordered toast and cereal, thinking them easier on your stomach.” She attempted to get up and go to the bathroom but Lucien had to steady her till she got there.
They later talked about the hotel and where they were. Lucien did not mention again his problems of the morning again. He thought maybe telling her that he was almost shot might have triggered Jean not feeling well. He was not sure, as with his true thoughts about her and her true thoughts about him were not allowed to flourish freely in their psyches in most instances. Jean kept looking for Lucien to show up at the bus stop. She denied most of her intense feelings for him. But yearning for him, his person, his smile, his kindness, his goofiness was hard to stop. He was also a very attractive and intelligent man.
Lucien ran to that bus this morning. He needed to be with her. The past few years, he ran home all the time and she had been there. Today, he had faced his mother’s killer. A friend had taken a bullet for him. Munro’s dismissal was trivial compared to the other action. He just needed her near. He did want to say goodbye and his emotions ran loose as he ran down the street after the bus. And he had run pretty darn fast to catch up with the bus.
Ballarat was miles away. He was not on call. She did not have to cook him supper. Or, worse yet, answer the door or the phone. They sat up on the bed and talked about the room, the town they were in. The times they were there as children. This brought them to their childhoods in Ballarat and tried to think of instances when they could have met. His father was her doctor. Yes, she sort of remembered an older boy around. The pain pills had caused her inhibitions to relax a great deal. And did she remember him in the church on Sundays. Their first communions, confirmations, friends who they discovered they both knew who had moved away,
Jean took another pill and her words slurred and she drifted into sleep. Lucien went in and took a shower and took off his shirt but kept his pants on as he rolled the covers over both of them. Those pangs of angst crept into his head as he looked at Jean. What had she seen the times he was dreadfully sick and she cared for him. Had she seen the scars on his back and the imperfections in his body he tried to hide. He was never able to forgive his former captors for harming things so personal to him.
Jean awoke at dawn and got up to look outside. After a while he lay down on the bed and shook Lucien slightly. He uttered an “ohhh, look who is looking at me,” And he kissed her on the forehead. Jean’s bathrobe opened slightly. It was unconscious on her part. What followed was a flowing of all their compassion, caring, love and kindness for each other. No words were necessary. Old skills were remembered. They were a match for sure.

Blake must have had to do some pretty unusual things to keep him and his buddies alive in the jungle. He did not have any housekeepers there. But maybe he did the medicine and the others did the mechanical things. Jean and Lucien’s struggles to know each other are the best male/female twists I have seen in a while. Jean is the Catholic girl that dare not ask a man to dance, date, etc. and if unmarried has to confess a kiss if she goes to the confessional. Do I remember the penance I used to get in 1960 from the good priests. After he does not come to say goodbye, she just thinks she is not worthy of him and really thinks he cares not for her. He has been deep into if his mother was killed and is ignoring her. And I still think he has a hangup about his physical sexuality.
So I am rewatching S1E3, an episode I hate but I need to watch now that I have committed myself to this episode fic morass. In between Jean expecting Blake to magically know she wants tea, magically know the vacuum is broken, magically know she wants him to unpack it, and magically know it’s her birthday, Blake single-handedly recues Danny and saves his life, and then is the one to suggest Danny stay with them while he recovers. If I were Jean I would be out buying him a “World’s Greatest Boss” coffee mug, not spending the whole episode in a snit. Jean never even thanks him for helping Danny.
But I suppose it could be argued that this is part of them coming to terms with each other. Blake isn’t the only one who is transformed by their relationship.

Lucien does not like Jean criticizing him at times but there are two instances where she really gives it to him and he accepts it. The jail one in the first season where he makes one of his public attacks and is jailed and when he makes terrible comments to the head of the hospital board. He just sits and looks pensive after Jean really gives it to him. Jean hides from him and he leaves for China without talking to her. He writes her that beautiful letter before he leaves.
For once in his life he comes home to a place where there might be an ending.
