On this day, 16 July 1557, Anne of Cleves, former queen of England, died.

“Anna of Cleves was allowed the use of Chelsea Manor, that small but delightful ‘palace’ where Thomas Seymour had courted Queen Catherine Parr ‘under the planets’. It was here that she fell ill in the spring of 1557 and here that she spent the months of her decline. She died on 16 July 1557. Anna, the daughter of Cleves, was in her forty-second year. She did not live to see the accession of King Henry’s last child, Elizabeth, the girl whom she had once petted, on 17 November 1558.

Given the lingering course of the Lady Anna’s illness, cancer seems a likely cause of her death. But no particular explanation was felt to be needed for the decease of a woman of her age. She had indeed exceeded the life expectancy of her sex, so often laid low by the peril she never had a chance to endure: child-bearing. hi everyone,

i'm back after around 6 months of silence. things have been really hard on me considering the current events my home, and of course the entire world, is facing. i'm not going to go into detail about why i left for a bit, i just felt like this is the right time to return to tumblr. i missed all my mutuals, and my friends, so so much and i feel like i've been ghosting you and i feel like an apology won't completely patch that part up. i'm sorry and not sorry at the same time- i'm sorry for leaving so abruptly without notice but i'm not sorry for taking this time to withdraw myself from social media and focus on my reality so i can find a way out of this mess as best as i can.

i missed everyone and everything so much and i am so glad to be back. of course i won't be updating and posting as regularly as i did in the previous year, but i guess i'm technically back here.
