"My Life in a Native House"
The sun starting to shine, its rays pass through the wall made of wood in our small haouse. It's already morning- a new day. I open the door of our very small room in a native house, then i saw my mother busy preparing for breakfast. I started to sweep and clean. I heard someone shouting, another are laughing and some are fighting. It's singing from our neighbor - the voices were not new to me since this always happen everyday.
I went out and sat to our old, wooden chair. It was hard but it was comfortable. The surroundings are now clearer to see due to the brightness of the sun. Our house is surrounded by different tress, plenty of houses and even grasses. On the right side of our humble abode is a mango tree, my auntie's and uncle's houses are also there. On the right side is a coconut tree, malunggay leaves and houses of my relatives. At the back of our house you'll see the vast rice field and banana tree. While looking at everything that surrounds me, suddenly my mother called me to buy an oil. I passed near the deep hole- a sources of water where my cousin washed a clothes and dishes. Finally, I came to my grandmother's store, i bought an oil then went back to our home.
I grabbed a chair and sat on it, while listening to a loud song. I felt the cold and fresh breeze of the air. I saw the blue sky and green rice leaves. I love to gaze at this place because sometimes it can relieve my sadness.
My mother went to her work. I turned on the radio and raised the volume up. I looked at the windows. It was not made of glass but of wood. I saw my cousin playing a game of basketball- its ring is hung on the trunk of a tree. Few step from it - rows of Falcatta tree together with a couple of coconut tress stood. At the center, there was one Mango tree tree. When its harvest season, my cousin always climb it and pick the mangoes.
At 4:00 in the afternoon, an unfamilliar persons is walking towards our home. When it's already near, my auntie approached them. This time I found out that it's my auntie and uncle from Davao, a cousin of my mother. All of my relatives socialize and brought back their childhood memories. They enjoyed talking and sharing about the status of their life. It was an afternoon filled with joy.
* * *
The sun is starting to set. The light is starting to turn off. Everything went dark . The night came. All my neighbors are starting to keep their things. Everyone is busy preparing for dinner. Afterwards, my aunties decided to have a video-key. In a little wooden table, they put an alcoholic drink. They sang and danced. When the alcoholic drink already did an effects to their body. They felt weak and decided to sleep. When everyone was sleeping. All turned into silence. I only heard the howling of the dogs, the breeze of the air and the different sound of the crickets nearby. May be this is one of the best moment that I’ll never forget.
