I keep seeing people say "play Outer Wilds, no, I can't tell you anything about it". Bitch. It's an exploration game about astronauts fucking around in space, doing archeology, astrology astronomy and science, with the gameplay itself consisting mostly of navigation in various 3D spaces with your legs or your trusty spaceship. There are interesting characters and tantalizing mysteries. It will require a fair bit of reading and thinking, it will sometimes test your speed, reflexes and precision. The story is about curiosity, courage, compassion, music, death, rebirth, and the terrifying vastness of space. The game can induce agoraphobia, claustrophobia, fear of heights, fear of depths and that which is unseen or hidden. Your character has four eyes and can roast marshmallows on any bonfire. Bitch.

i love the nomai because like. they're just so needlessly complicated in the most hilarious way.

"oh hey, you notice how people keep falling into the black hole? yeah, we should probably do something about that. guardrails? mmmmm nah let's build an entire space station with warp technology."

"move to timberhearth, the safest and most habitable planet in the solar system? hmmmm I dunno man. i think we're doing fine living over a black hole and on a planet that floods with sand everyday."

"build actual spaceships with rockets? how about instead we plot out the entire trajectory beforehand!"

"we need a powerful energy source to power the ATP? hmm lets brainstorm for a whi-- oh! i know!! lets BLOW UP THE SUN AND TRAP THE UNIVERSE IN A TIME LOOP"?????

helloooo outer wilds community have a wip 🫡🫡 heres alllll the planets/moons for a thing I’m working on (minus the interloper but it’s 2am I’ll do it tomorrow) I will add lighting and stuff when I get closer to the final piece but im quite happy with these so why not post them as is ::) (especially since they’re probably gonna get blurred/not be as visible in the final piece)

“average hearthian lives for 22 minutes” factoid actually statistical error. average hearthian lives for at least a few decades. deaths georg and dying jorge, two hearthians who are stuck in a time loop and die every 22 minutes, are outliers adn should not have been counted.

You ever think about the fact that throughout Outer Wilds, you find people by listening to them playing the main theme all together. And then when you get to the stranger, you pull out your signalscope to find - nothing. Silence. These people did everything in their power to hide, of course they're not going to broadcast themselves to you. But even so, once you reach the reservoir, River’s End starts playing. And embedded within this track, you once again hear the main theme - but while the song of the travelers is usually full of hope and curiosity, played in a major key, this time that melody is tragic, mournful, and very much final. And it’s played not by banjo or acoustic guitar, but by electric guitar, in this weird digitized approximation of the natural sound you know so well… a simulated version of the real thing, one might say. And while nobody is playing an instrument, there is still a person - the prisoner. And this song you hear, it’s almost as if he’s calling out to you In the only way the game has ever told you that someone is there. Desperately hoping to be found, but almost giving up hope.
