I changed faster than the mirror did.

I've been having a weird feeling lately when I look in the mirror. I can finally see myself in the mirror, for a split second, and then my brain autocorrects back to how I used to look. I see it in my face, the slant of my shoulders, the way my eyes sit in my sockets, everything. my hard work is paying off and I'm finally looking like the man I've dreamt of since I was a little kid.

but I can't see it. not for long, at least. a lifetime of looking at a woman makes it hard to see a man in front of your face. I'm trying to get used to the new sights, and to be patient with my brain, but it's hard. I just want to see ME. I *know* I'm in there! I want to see myself the way I look *right now*, not the way I looked last year.

I've changed so much - I wish the mirror would let me see it.
