SUBLIME CINEMA #508 - THE LOBSTER
Yorgos Lanthimos is of the old school of fearless directors, he seems unbothered by trends and is talented enough to keep making exactly what he wants to make. I admire his craftsmanship and the biting sense of dark humor and satiric fantasy that peppers everything he makes - you could almost call it science fiction if it wasn’t so uniquely his own thing. Dystopian, sure.Â

One of the things I loved about this episode (I still have half to go bc of glitchy internet and work-- I usually watch on lunch break) was the use of framing in the shots
the way they zoomed in on eyes and hands and chests to move the story forward. All the little fractured parts to emphasize different moods:
I know the manga used a lot of these style shots, but it's even more impactful animated!
