the fact that voit’s moms name is teresa still makes me believe that maybe she was supposed to be the “teresa is in trouble” teresa. since we know peter b is the one who told brian to say that, maybe he knew about voit’s past because of doug.

it could’ve just been a coincidence that gasper was stalking tyler’s ex teresa, because tyler had threatened him. maybe voit’s mom is still alive? idk i’m spiralling and making no sense bye.

One of the things I’ve been very amused with re: Criminal Minds Evolution. Is that it feels like the show has a smaller budget than the original show because if I think about it they only have a few standing sets: The BAU plane, the BAU Office, and Penelope’s condo.

In season 1 the Jareau - LaMontagne home is in location set that might have filmed back to back, likewise with the Voit home.

Penelope’s condo is the only one they use for everything: All team parties, Emily sleeping it off in Penelope’s home when honestly she could’ve done that in her own home, in a hotel, etc. In universe, it does make sense Emily will sleep off her hangover with Penelope.

Out of universe, the reason why she’s there its because production can’t afford to rent another home, and/or build another standing set. Hopefully, season 18 will get more standing set and that set is Emily’s home.

CME 17x10 thoughts (and prayers)

Jesus Christ I’m finally home after accidentally sabotaging my own morning (okay sabotage may be harsh. I have a job now that I signed all the necessarily paperwork lol but I had to go around the city for hours. This Pacific time Midnight airtime is ridiculous, that’s 9 am for me. By then I usually have to pretend to be a functioning adult human being).

I don’t really do this usually, but it is the finale, so. I will try my hand and liveblogging. This will be long.

Some preliminary thoughts though:

I think Church and Jade both survive and it’s Mila who dies

I just don’t see any of the main cast dying. Maybe Rossi, but this show is attached to its actors so much that this would only happen if Joe wanted out, and I’m not sure I can see that happening?

the last Gold Star Peter B. is most probably Peter Bailey

I don’t trust Phil Coulson the Director

Voit has to die. I think. Narratively he just can’t live. So my guess is that he will be killed (maybe on FBI higher up orders) and it will be framed as a suicide. But the BAU would obvious know that doesn’t match his profile cue S18

That said when you introduce shit like the FBI or the CIA a lot of things that used to be “conspiracy theories” have since been reveled to have been true 💀 so people being distrustful towards these organizations are not that unreasonable when you think about it. And even in-universe the BAU has done shady shit? So.

Okay, closing thoughts. It was a good episode, but a bit underwhelming on the conspiracy side of things? And as a finale? I mean they kept saying how it’s “bigger than we thought” but it really wasn’t? Also it kind of takes away from the suspense that we know none of these characters are ever dying lol But ultimately it did close off loose ends. But I really would have appreciated some implication that Voit was killed on someone’s orders to continue some kind of a plot thread? Realistically the writers probably haven’t decided on that yet lol Did like that we acknowledged that the Gold Star kids were victims but…at the end of the day who was the perpetrator?

No, I still don’t trust Clark Gregg. Also can we get back to Emily having a sister what is that about

Emily Prentiss's instincts on the Goldstar thing have been on the ball despite all the skepticism and pressure piled on her. She called the connection with Adrian.

Also, all the covert spy tricks people have been pulling she's caught each time.

Tyler pulled a sly one using a bathroom, Emily immediately knew something was fishy. Voit tapping out a morse code to Damian, she caught immediately.

Only a few people know Emily was an ex-spy and she can work that to her advantage and one of that is the ability to anticipate when someone else is trying to do something using spy tactics.

Even when Luke went lone wolf to take down his best friend's killer. Emily suspected this and was able to head it off and prevent Luke from murdering his best friend's killer and losing his job.

Unfortunately, Frank Church knows Emily Prentiss used to be a spy and that might not work in Emily's favor.

On the other hand, there's Brian Garrity. The only person who really baffles and irritates Emily, and that's because she keeps using kid gloves on him. Also, because he plain baffles the hell out of Emily.

(Because in another universe they're both Frank and Sadie Doyle!)

She doesn't know how the hell he keeps stumbling into the truth or the edges of the truth and proceeds to make her life miserable.

My theory is, that Frank Church was the one who provided Brian all the information and then pointed Brian at Emily like a gun.
