Of course this goes over poorly. But Kuprum seems to think you're trying to steal his girl and freaks out, the energy from which Folykl absorbs.

And then Folykl comes over, and mspar can't seem to pick up that they're about to drain him like an iphone battery.

I thought this wasn't smut lol.

I've literally seen stories where someone gets their life-force drained through kissing as like a kink thing so hey, if that's your bag, check this game out I guess.

The name folykl is probably based on follicle, the structure of the skin wherefrom grows hair. Since this character has a lot of hair, the name might be a fairly simple joke.

As for Kuprum, cuprum is Latin for copper. At first I thought this was a nod to the fic series "wires and stars", because I misremembered its title as "copper wires abs stars", and it deals with the concept of a helmstroll extensively, but now I think that's kind of a reach. I still would not be surprised if this character was a nod to the fandom's fascination with the fate of the helmsman, since it show up on like one page, and yet the tag "Helmstrolls (Homestuck)" has 224 entries on Ao3.

The fact this guy's interest in the helm is associated by the text with kink is also notable. We could discuss the tentacle hentai angle, but I think it is interesting to look at this character through the lens of an oppressed person developing a kink around the violence that they may experience. There's a Germaine Greer style critique of this dude as "cherishing the chains of [his] own oppression" here.

And then we have a description of a disease called voidrot. I actually was introduced to the concept by a fanfic, I think, but obviously it comes from one of the hiveswap games.

And kuprum clearly likes the current heiress, and folykl thinks this is annoying. "Trizza is basically [] the third member [] of this relationship [] considering how goddamn [] horny you are [] to get her [] cybernetic tentacles [] up in you." Ah. Yep. This guy is a Kinky fucker then.

And then mspar makes it about the fact they are pale and not pitch as they initially thought, and we get our next decision tree.

So far I've liveblogged by reading on my laptop, stopping to take screenshots, then posting on tumblr from my laptop. In general this makes for a fairly slow liveblogging experience, so I'm going to play some friendsim in a little bit and liveblog with my phone, and see if that shakes things up a bit.

Aah, that genuinely surprised me. Lol. It's been a hot minute since we've seen this guy how nice.

And then they spend the next page talking about whether Sollux is fucking Roxy, which he says he isn't, and how John feels about it. Fun awkwardness.

All right, I finished the 10/8 update. Tomorrow is going to be busy for me, so I think I'll do the 10/25 update on Sunday. If I'm at loose ends tonight I might read more though.

Okay, wait a sec. There was one Jade from Candy, another from Meat, and one from the battle with LE. The one from candy is still in candy, one of the others was possessed by the Muse, and is with Dave, Karkat, Roxy, Kanaya and Callie from Meat. I completely missed the part where these two had a Jade with them. And now she's dead? Aah, that'll teach me to reread my liveblog instead of the actual story.

Also, it's interesting that Aradia is wearing that saw themed outfit. I think she was wearing her normal godtier stuff last we saw her...

All right, let's get started! This update does not seem to have a chapter mark, so let's go by its drop date. Starting out with a Law & Order joke, so I'm assuming we are going to open on Terezi, in the meat universe, on Deltritus.

Okay, so it looks like my dash is all posting about the new update to HS^2, so if I want to avoid spoilers, I better get in on it. To that end, I'm going to briefly review the liveblogging that i've done so far in the hopes that i get up to speed. No clue how long it will take, and i'll probably have lunch too, so it will be a while before I start posting about it.
