Overwatch: Which Heroes Would Help An Old Lady Across the Street?
Thought I’d try something fun. Let me know if you agree/disagree with any of these!
The scenario is that our random old lady sees the particular Overwatch hero walking past and verbally asks them to help her cross the street.
D.Va - Wouldn’t help. She’d be too hopped up on caffeine to slow down.
Orisa - Yes.
Reinhardt - He would help, and would be a perfect gentleman, offering his arm, complimenting the old lady’s outfit. He’d regale her with an overly long war story, and she’d be stuck politely waiting on the opposite side until he finally finished.
Roadhog - Wouldn’t help. He’d just rob her before she even noticed her purse was missing.
Winston - Would help. Our favorite gorilla would probably overcomplicate things, throwing down his barrier projector as they crossed and all that, but he’d blush and scratch the back of his head after she thanked him.
Zarya - Would help, but wouldn’t say a word to the old lady. She’d just get the job done.
Bastion - It’s a 50/50 chance, depending on his mood.
Doomfist - He would push the old lady into the street, telling her only the fit are worthy to survive. If she managed to make it across alive, he would try to recruit her into Talon.
Genji - He would help. He would then try to share pamphlets outlining the teachings of his lord and savior Zenyatta. The old lady would say she already belongs to a church, but Genji would be remarkably persistent.
Hanzo - Would stare at her, sniff disdainfully, and walk away without a word.
Junkrat - Would gladly and exuberantly help, but would somehow bungle things and blow the old lady up.
McCree - Yes.
Mei - Would help, and would apologize the entire time.
Pharah - Would help. The old lady would remind Pharah of her “late” mother, and she would walk away with a hint of sadness.
Reaper - Would threaten the old lady with her life. The old lady would insist he help her anyway. Reaper would find himself helping her across the street without really knowing how he got there in the first place.
Soldier: 76 - Would agree, but would grumble about it the entire way across.
Sombra - Would hack the street light so the walk signal would remain permanently on, then go on her way.
Symmetra - Would build a hard light bridge over the road, and would move on without ever looking up or even acknowledging the old lady.
Torbjorn - Would help, but would also be a huge, huge grump about it ... at least until his wife gave him a disapproving look. Then he’d be polite as a fiddle.
Tracer - Would agree to help her, and then blink back and forth between the old lady and the other side of the road, jabbering on a mile a minute.
Widowmaker - Would straight up laugh in the old lady’s face before grappling away.
Ana - Would tell the old lady to do it herself, and would then walk across the street herself a couple times just to rub it in.
Brigitte - She’d just follow along behind Reinhardt as he helped the old lady across, laughing at his war story.
Lucio - Would help, but would also Amp Up his speed boost to hurry her across.
Mercy - Would help, and would probably follow the old lady through the rest of the city in case she had any more streets to cross.
Moira - Would not help, but would be so polite in refusing, the old lady would be confused when the geneticist walked away.
Zenyatta - Would help, and would tell the old lady to embrace tranquility after they crossed. She would be very confused.

I noticed that during the matches, there's always one team using its team color skin and one team using a white skin. If all teams have their own colored skin, what dictates who gets the white skin?
OWL was designed very much like a traditional sports league. The long-term goal for OWL is that each team will have a home arena, and their opponents will travel to play against them. Like a traditional sports league, the away team has a generic jersey they wear; for OWL, that "jersey," or skin in this case, is white. As of right now, however, the teams play in the one arena. Even so, the league has predetermined beforehand which team is considered the "away" team for any given game. As of right now, this doesn't really mean anything, except save the audience a headache from trying to figure out which team is which when two teams with similar color schemes play against each other. But your question is, how do they decide? In short, the league split up the matches with an understanding of who would act the role of the home team for any given game. The teams take turns taking on this role. But like I said, it doesn't really matter. The players themselves only see the base skins on their monitors.

Overwatch League Week 18 Recap
All right all right! I’m back from Florida, and ready to throw down a solid string of posts this week.
This week was ... interesting, to say the least. There were a ton of upsets, but I also perfectly predicted what I feel like was the most important upset: Valiant vs. Excelsior. This will definitely give the playoffs a little more weight for sure.
Either way, my predictions were pretty garbage. I only barely managed to pull over 50% accurate, but either way, this may be my worst week yet. The overall percentage came in at 55.9%.
The individual match results are down below. Enjoy!

Sorry for the Radio Silence
Hey, all!
I've been pretty quiet; this week was super compressed for me. My wife's grandmother passed away earlier this May, and we both flew in from Utah to Florida last night to attend her memorial service this morning.
I wanted to take these spare minutes I have to apologize for my recent silence, as well as give you a heads up that I probably won't be doing the recap today. I'll try to get that out sometime next week.
Also, it feels relevant for me to offer up a warning. This past week is probably indicative of the kind of schedule this blog may see in the off-season. I'll be explaining more about that when the season comes to a close.
Thanks for your understanding. I really do appreciate your fandom.

OWL Weekly Power Rankings: Excelsior and Valiant Top of Atlantic, Pacific Divisions [Omnic Post]
Welcome to this week’s power rankings! As Week Two of Stage 4 began, certain teams faced an increasingly slim margin of error in regards to their playoff qualification status. As such, many, if not most, teams competed with stakes beyond just their matches themselves. Though many teams have already circled June 16 as their final day of the inaugural season of the League, other teams are still trying to push their own final day just a little further into July.
In every week, some teams rise, some teams fall, and every team has the chance to prove themselves. Let’s see where our favorite OWL teams landed this week.

Overwatch SR Gains Main vs. Smurf - Following Up With My Previous Post
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about what I learned after making a smurf account. Click here to read that in its entirety.
At some point during that week, I mentioned wanting to play twenty more games on both my main and my smurf to see if the two accounts reached an equilibrium of sorts. I did indeed play those forty games. I kept a close record of my SR gains and losses following each game, and then created a chart to show that progress.

Apologies for the low quality.
Observation #1
Though I averaged around 2600 SR on my main account over the last three to four seasons, I really struggled to stay above 2400 SR this season.
I’m not sure what factors contributed to this. There is a chance that my hero pool suffers in the current meta. I also had teammates leave in the middle of four of the twenty games I played. In contrast, I only had one teammate leave for my smurf’s matches.
Observation #2
Though I placed at 2969 on my smurf, I basically did nothing but slide the rest of my matches. Had the trend continued, I undoubtedly would have reached where my main account currently stands. This suggests that I never deserved 2969 in the first place.
Observation #3
I do believe I’m in a good spot right now given the amount of time I’m able to put into the game. I also think my SR is probably an accurate, if not perfect, representation of my skills right now.
And that’s it! I think I’ll leave this experiment for another time.

OWL Weekly Power Rankings: Playoffs Loom as Teams Struggle to Qualify [Omnic Post]
Welcome to another week of Power Rankings! While the Stage 4 Title Finals are on everyone’s minds, the real focus lies just beyond Stage 4 namely; the playoffs. With the League’s Atlantic and Pacific divisions playing a major role in the League hierarchy for the first time since OWL’s inauguration, every match seems to hold much more weight as teams go head-to-head for a chance at the million dollar prize.
While many teams still have a chance to qualify depending on how the season plays out, other teams are definitively disqualified from the playoffs, even if they win every match from here on out. As such, while excitement and hype still exist for a vast majority of the teams, other teams are seeking for more humble shots at glory.
Let’s see how everyone performed this week down below.
Hey there! If you want to read the rest, please click through to visit The Omnic Post, an online esports publication focused on nothing but Overwatch. I write for them in addition to working on this tumblr.
Enjoy!
