––––––––––––SHE’S GOING TO look over every bit of him, and then again, and once again. it’s clear she doesn’t trust that it’s nothing and wants to make sure that he’s okay. so as he starts vaguely explaining what happened, she’s filling in the gaps and feels a knot in her throat. ‘ an honest mistake ? ’ he voice cracks as she clears her throat, getting up only to return with multiple ice packs. ‘ you’re … you’re in the clear now ? ’

a  soft  hiss  involuntarily  leaves  his  lips  at  the  application  of  an  ice  pack  to  his  bruised  cheek  bone.  so  much  for  pretending  it’s  not  as  bad  as  it  looks.  “i  don’t  owe  them  anything.  the  other  guy  does  apparently.”  andrew  tried  to  laugh  to  break  the  tension,  to  ease  her  nerves  but  the  action  didn’t  land.  “i  wouldn’t  have  come  here  if  i  wasn’t,  i  promised  you  and  i’m  keeping  that  promise.”  with  his  free  hand  he’s  reaching  out  to  her,  “come  here?”

“mallory!”  her  name  falls  from  his  lips  easily.  he  always  said  it  tasted  like  honey  and  if  you  asked  him  it  sounded  pretty  too.  he  had  waited  at  his  table  in  the  cafe  pretending  to  be  busy  and  intrigued  in  his  work  until  the  end  of  her  shift,  which  might’ve  worked  a  little  too  well  because  he  had  just  watched  her  walk  out  the  front  door.  the  bell chimed  after  him,  almost  mimicking  his  panic  while  he  darted  after  her.  “mallory,  right?  from  your  name  tag?”  cas  gestures.  “casper.  i  see  you  like  all  the  time,  i  guess  our  schedules  must  overlap?  uh--  that’s  not  what  i  was  going  to  say.”  he  gives  her  a  nervous  grin,  “are  you  busy  some  time  this  week?  i’d  love  to  take  you  out  on  a  date.”

–––––––––HE DOESN’T KNOW if she will let him in. doesn’t know what she’s filling to reveal and maybe that’s the hardest. wanting to help with no context and no guarantee he will have that context. eyes go to their hands and then her face, hoping that he can find some way to get her what she needs. she needs something but doesn’t know and now he’s sitting there, racking his brain for any bit of solution. ‘ why … why can you not do this ? ’

she’s  getting  worked  up  and  she  knows  it.  stop  brook,  stop.  her  eyes  squeeze  shut  as  she  draws  in  a  deep  breath  to  keep  her  thoughts  from  spiraling  even  further  away  from  her  than  they  already  had.  “i... can.  i’m  good,  i  can  talk.”  she  holds  her  moment  of  peace  a  little  longer,  twisting  their  hands  and  pulling  his  up  to  her  lips  in  her  own  and  pressing  a  kiss  to  the  back  of  them.  this  was  as  much  about  him  as  it  was  about  her,  communication  worked  both  ways.  “because  uncertainty  scares  me.  i’ve  never  not  had  a  plan  for  anything  in  my  life  and  then  you  came  along  and  you  were  totally  unplanned.  and  now  i  don’t  know  what  to  do.”

he’s  past  fumbling  for  his  keys  which  have  long  since  landed  on  the  ground.  there’s  no  denying  the  bigger  they  are  the  harder  they  fall,  which  is  why  he’s  adamant  about  staying  upright,  despite  tripping  over  both  of  his  feet  in  an  attempt  to  close  some  of  the  distance.  he’s  nearly  popping  up  straight,  shoulders  back,  as  if  he  could  ever  recover  from  that.  a  cheesy  smile  fills  his  face,  leaving  no  room  for  embarrassment.  “i’m  sorry  i  didn’t  catch  your  name?  or  your  number,  if  you  wanted  to  share  that  too.”

don’t  shut  me  out.  his  pleading  wrenches  her  heart.  she’s  fighting  instinct  for  him  here,  if  she  had  any  of  this  her  way  this  conversation  would’ve  never  happened,  she  wouldn’t  have  been  struggling  for  words,  or  called  out  for  crying.  ‘he’s  safe,  he’s  trying,  you  need  to  try,’  she  tells  herself.  brooklyn  tried  to  steady  her  hands  against  his  own,   “i  don’t  know  if  i  can  do  this.  i  need...  something  i  don’t  know.”

NOTHING would mean he wasn’t showing up at her door covered in bruises. nothing wouldn’t mean, what she assumed was, lying about what happened. ‘ what do you mean in the wrong place at the wrong time ? ’ the worry doesn’t leave her voice, instead she’s gently tugging him to take a seat on the couch to see how bad the bruises really are.

he  let’s  her  lead  him  to  the  couch  and  start  looking  him  over,  knowing  full  well  that  she  wasn’t  going  to  stop  until  she  had  inspected  him  thrice  over  and  gotten  actual  answers.  “i  had  stopped  by  the  bar  for  a  quick..  business..  transaction.  they  said  they  thought  i  was  someone  else,  honest  mistake.”  the  explanation  was  vague  sure,  but  detailed  enough  that  she  could  hopefully paint  a  picture.

“it’s  nothing.”  he  looked  over  his  shoulder  as  she  closes  the  door.  “i  promise.”  he  promised,  but  he  wasn’t  sure  how  true  that  promise  was.  andrew  finally  looked  her  in  the  eyes  and  his  shoulders  relax  despite  his  heart  still  racing  in  his  chest.  he  sighed,  trying  to  regain  some  composure.  “i  was  just  in  the  wrong  place  at  the  wrong  time. “

modern&dark plots based on animated movies

HERCULES – muse a is a rookie cop who’s just looking to prove themselves in the department, especially considering the rumors swirling around that the only reason they managed to pass the exam was because their parent is the former chief of police. desperate to show their worth, muse a volunteers to take on the biggest case the city’s seen in years, a drug ring that’s going to lead to drug bust right within the city. surprising many people, including his older and bitter partner, muse a has a knack for finding out what’s going on and begins to put together the pieces of the case - which doesn’t bode well for the kingpin who wants to flood the city with their drugs. enter muse b, a wise and street saavy escort who begins to cross paths with muse a multiple times on their different assignments. muse a is taken by muse b’s humor and intelligence and independence. muse a finds themselves taken with muse b, their energy starting to drift more on them than the case. unknown to them, muse b works for the very kingpin they’re trying to take down.

ANASTASIA – muse a was born into a wealthy political family, the youngest child in a long line of people who had the courage to speak out against what was wrong - and in return, earn a long list of enemies along the way. one evening after speaking out against a violent one, the entire family of muse a finds themselves as the victim of an attack on their estate. muse a and their grandfather attempt to escape the burning house, but are separated, muse a swallowed up by the crowd. hoping the child is safe, the grandfather continues on, thinking that muse a will find them eventually. however, years go by and nothing. meanwhile, muse b is a petty thief and scammer who looks to make quick cash in the easiest way possible, and happens to come across a paper that boldy claims five million dollar reward for anyone who can restore muse a to their family. with a trick up their sleeve and enough knowledge about the former family, muse b knows that money is as good as theirs, all they need to find is the person to play the part. in comes muse a, who’s spent the last ten years of their life in a dark cloud, the only memory of their life being their first name. 

FINDING NEMO – since muse a’s child was born, they’ve been a nervous wreck. the birth of their child led to the death of muse a’s spouse, and because of that, muse a has been desperate to hold onto their child and keep them as close as possible. when their child turns five and it’s time for them to go to school, muse a is forced to let go of the reigns a little bit, despite their best intentions. what they’re not expecting is for their child to be kidnapped during the first time away from home. the police can only do so much, but muse a can’t sit back and do nothing, taking matters and clues into their own hands and setting out to find their child. on the way, they end up picking up a forgetful yet charming hitchhiker, muse b. initially just planning on driving muse b to the next exit, muse a finds themselves saddled with muse b who can longer remember where they were going, but begins to provide help to muse a in their journey.

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY – muse a and muse b are both classmates in the same university, but the two of them come from entirely different worlds. muse a is a scholarship student, spending every waking moment working and dreaming of the career they can’t wait to start. muse b is a legacy kid, riding on the family’s name and doing just enough to get by, looking forward to partying more than studying. the two of them are pledging for the same club/fraternity/sorority, and as a result of meeting each other, immediately get off on the wrong foot. jabs and insults come off their lips easily - perhaps a bit too easily. due to an altercation in the middle of campus, the two of them soon find themselves on probation, kicked out of the dormitory where they lived, and with nothing left to support them. with everyone now expecting them to fail and the two of them the laughing stock of the entire campus, they end up having to put their differences aside and work together - and even live together.

muse a is a nervous person and the thought of moving away to university terrifies them. they end up living in shared accommodation and muse b is in a flat across the hall. they chat online in a group chat for the flat/building for a while then begin to talk privately, and muse b soothes their nerves about moving away and having to meet now people (cute things can pursue)

“hey i’m late on our first day and oh no, the only free seat is next to you. wait do you have a pen?”

sad exes plot as per usual. muse a was the reason for their relationship’s downfall; neglecting muse b, failing to communicate, etc, and throwing every second chance they were given down the drain. eventually, muse b had enough and finally called it quits. later, muse a bumps into muse b again for the first time after their breakup, only to find them with someone new. muse a is hurt over how quickly muse b has moved on, convinced that their breakup came out of nowhere, while muse b insists they gave them multiple chances to change their ways before deciding to leave. whether this causes muse a to see the error of their ways and attempt to make it up to muse b or if they continue in a toxic cycle is up to u

illicit affairs — don’t call me “baby”, look at this godforsaken mess that you made me

this could go a few different ways!! an average cheating plot where muse a and muse b are instantly attracted to one another, starting an intimate relationship before muse a reveals that they already have a significant other at home. despite this, the two continue hooking up in secret, but with each day that goes by, muse b becomes increasingly frustrated with muse a stringing them along. OR!!! a secret romance type plot. could be a forbidden love romeo/juliet scenario or something more simple like “hey, you’re my best friend’s sibling and i think we should keep this under wraps for now” or “we’re two celebs in love but we want to keep the media out of our business” but as more time passes, muse b keeps urging a reluctant muse a to let their relationship become public knowledge.

more exes! or just an old friendship if that floats your boat more. muse a broke up with muse b during a rough patch in their life (be it they were struggling with alcohol, drugs, etc) and the two lost contact. flash forward a few years and muse a is sober and on the straight and narrow, showing up at muse b’s doorstep to apologise for how they treated them. muse b could be in a new relationship, refuse to speak to muse a or hell maybe they’re more than willing to take them back idk it’s your decision guys

soft and fluffy! could even be a soulmate kinda thing if you’re into that. muse a and muse b are strangers dealing with their own shit who constantly find themselves running into each other over and over again, be it at the grocery store, at the emergency room, in the street, at a party, etc. after the third or so time, they strike up a conversation because “hey, are you following me or something” and form the connection that was destined for them all along. maybe they even discover that they met before when they were young or were even just in the same room a few years ago without even knowing it. that’s fate babey

her  hands  went  to  his  hair ,  running  her  fingers  through  the  hair  at  the  nape  of  his  neck ,  advancing  in  her  eye  contact  tactics .  jealousy  could  be  a  little  green  monster ,  she  had  seen  and  experienced  her  own  fair  share  of  it .  part  of  her  wants  to  believe  that  he’s  exaggerating ,  that  whatever  feelings  he  thinks  her  ex  still  holds  onto  aren’t  there ,  but  a  gut  feeling  tells  her  he’s  right .  “ his  feelings  don’t  matter  to  me . ”  her  words  are  reassurance  to  him  and  a  fact  to  her .  the  relationship  had  ended ,  it  wasn’t  her  fault  she  could  move  on  and  he  couldn’t .  her  teeth  sink  into  her  bottom  lip  while  she  struggles  to  find  the  perfect  ‘ right  thing ’  to  say .  “ i  wouldn’t  be  standing  here  otherwise . ”

–––––––––––SHE’S EASILY DISTRACTED on her phone, scrolling through some stupid instagram feed, too invested in pictures of people she barely knew. simply waiting for her to reach the front of the line so she could order and move on with her day. she’s barely paying attention to the world around her, at least until she’s hearing a question directed towards her and an elbow on her shoulder. startled, she jumps softly, looking up at the person who’s leaning on her, a too large smile emerging on her lips when she realizes and registers that it’s brooks.             ‘ you’re close. i’m an iced latte sort of person. ’       she teases, rolling her eyes as she reaches up, no longer giving a damn about who was on her feed, an arm easily wrapping around him.          ‘ look at you just popping out of no where. ’

“ you  know  i’m  good  for  socializing . ”  he  grins ,  his  hand  now  tucking  blonde  hair  back  behind  her  ear .  there  was  a  large  soft  spot  for  her  in  his  heart  and  he  could  never  really  explain  why .  the  two  of  them  ran  in  different  circles ,  their  paths  hardly  ever  crossing ,  and  when  sho  finally  appeared  in  his  line  of  view ,  brooks  found  himself  desperate  for  her  attention .  “ are  you  planning  on  staying ?  or  is  this  more  of  a  disappointing  coffee  run ? ”  his  words  are  hinting  at  his  wanting  her  to  stay ,  to  sit  and  catch  up  from  the  last  time  they  sat  and  talked .  his  hands  are  still  lightly  playing  with  her  hair ,  his  smile  softening  the  longer  he’s  gazing  at  her .  “ what’s  your  order ?  my  treat . ”
